Ok, so hear me out....Bonus Gens!

Your team rocks. You’ve completed all 5 gens. So what now? Open gate and leave, right? Wrong! There are still 2 gens that were never repaired!

What of they remain unblocked, and we have the option to work them for bonuses!? Killer can still open gates himself if he wants, but maybe he’ll try to use your greed as an opportunity instead!

So this begs 3 questions:

1) What should the rewards be?

2) Should you still get the bonus reward if you die?

3) Can we implement a similar bonus system the killer as well? You know, to keep things fair?

Here are my opinions to answer these questions:

1) I think each completed bonus gen should provide a 25% post-match bloodpoint bonus to each category, for a max of 50%. (Another option would be to earn a random, high quality item for each bonus gen)

2) I think the reward should apply to ALL remaining survivors, and should be lost if you die before escaping.

3) I think the killer should earn 25% post-match bonus points to all categories for each bonus gen that is NOT repaired. The points will NOT be earned if the killer opens the exit gate. He has to actively keep survivors off the gens and sacrifice or run them out - not activate the EGC timer to apply the pressure for him. (If you think this is too easy for the extra points, please offer up suggestions!)

This will often extend matches, give a fun new element, reward risky behavior, and provide the opportunity for extra booodpoints every match!

Even though I think this is a great idea, I guess most people will be willing to just leave the trial because by the time the 5 gens are done, these things will happens:

Balanced match(Both Killer and Survivors are good): Most survivors will be on death hook and the map will be a huge deadzone since there won't even be pallets left anymore, which means that's free down for the Killer.

Unbalanced match for Killers: (Bad Killer vs good Survivors): Free points for the survivors, which will milk most of these 2 last gens while someone is toying with the Killer in a L-T.

Unbalanced match for Survivors: (Good Killer vs bad Survivors): Free points for the Killer since they won't be able to complete 5 gens.

But the most common problem between those is that all pallets will be gone, so no way to escape chases.

Well, you’re absolutely right. But this isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

As we all know, well-balanced matches are not all that common. But if you get one, then you typically earn a pretty nice score anyway. Lots of killer-survivor interaction there. The bonus is still there, but it’s optional in case things are too intense or risky.

When the game is unbalanced, the winning side typically scores less than what feels fair because interaction was too limited. This gives them a chance to get a nice bonus for doing so well.

That said, you have valid concerns. But I don’t think the fear of unbalanced games, which are going to happen regardless, should deter us from adding in optional bonus objectives. Especially when something like this would be so easy to program in with some minor edits to existing code.

Anyway, they probably won't lose their time doing anything the community wants, if no money is involved, you can forget it, they won't do it.

You could repair last 2 gens back in 2016. It gave nothing but repair points.

Not sure if this feature will comeback. It's an interesting concept though.
