Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Make Deep Wounds actually matter

As the title says I don't think that Deep Wounds as a mechanic actually matters. All it does is add a bit of healing time, which I can get just fine from Mangled. The only time I have ever seen Deep Wounds actually down someone is when I was the Killer and I was being "nice" and they didn't need to heal and just did the gens.

That's it. I have, in my admittedly short amount of time, never seen someone go down from Deep Wounds via normal gameplay.

There is just no danger to it. If you've got Deep Wounds you can run around the entire outside edge of the map till the sun goes out and it doesn't matter. As long as you are running it doesn't matter. And that's my main problem with it. Just make the timer keep ticking when they run. Stop it in the middle of a chase like with the Pig's trap timer and it gives the Killer a reason to go after someone else.

I just don't really see the point of Deep Wounds as it is now. If it is meant to add time to healing just swap it with Mangled. If it is actually meant to be a danger to Survivors then don't let them run forever when they have it.

Well. If deep wound could down survivors more often, legion would be hated even more than now. And survivors wouldn't farm with BT like it's a easy free points.

I actually get someone downed while hiding with deep wound active. He probably didn't noticed he have deep wound to mend.

When i played against Legion for the first time, i had no idea that i needed to mend.

And I was confused to see the timer until i was on the floor.

I think it should stay that way, for new players and for stressful situations.

If we think about a situation where The legion is chasing a survivor while they have Deep wounds, and the timer is still ticking.

The option left for the survivor is to run and try to break line of sight. it's not easy for everyone and they will end up on the floor while being chased. Deep wounds will feel very annoying and quite unnecessary.

You see, there's a VERY good reason that Deep Wound isn't tied to chase mechanics anymore. A (way too common) scummy tactic was to hit someone with Frenzy and moonwalk, following their blood with Bloodhound. The game wouldn't count it as being in a chase, but they were still being followed. They'd either go down to Deep Wound or be forced to mend where Legion could just hit them anyway.

Deep Wound does matter. It's not really a threat but it does matter. You mention that you can just run Sloppy to add healing time. You can do that, but here's the thing. Mending takes 12 seconds while Sloppy only adds 3.2 seconds to the standard heal time. That's (almost) 4x longer.

Don't view Deep Wound as lethality, view it as slowdown and it looks a whole lot better. Deep Wound is literally the only reason Legion works as a Killer. Otherwise their downs would simply take way too long.

I guess my main problem is that I have been thinking of it as a "delayed down" in and of it self instead of the slow down aspect for it.

I've just been playing a lot of Deathslinger recently and was finding that the Deep Wounds wasn't being overly helpful. That and the fact I ran into three sets of four BT in a row (not the same group three times, three individual games where everyone had BT). One of which also had a DS + Soul Guard + Unbreakable Survivor so I wasn't feeling very chartable to Deep Wounds.

I'd say "Tie it to Terror Radius" but there are means of reducing or eliminating that mechanic so it's not viable either. I wish we had a "Proximity to the Killer" mechanic that couldn't be circumvented by either side so things like Deep Wounds or hook timer could be tied to it. But that's a larger mechanical change which will probably never happen.

Got to agree it is very underwhelming. It needs a downside for the affected survivor besides just removing it.
