The Evil Within Chapter Idea
Map: The Victoriano Estate, Stem
An indoor map, full of secret passages and twisted secrets that are slowly revealed as the match progresses.
Killer: The Keeper
Base Stats:
32m terror radius
Tall
115%
Power: Psycho Punishment
The keeper can place various traps during a trial. The Keeper starts with 8 tokens. Placing a trap consumes a token and after a trap is disarmed or activates, The Keeper regains one token.
Special Ability: Tripwire Trap;
While facing a wall, hold the power button to start placing a tripwire. Hold the power button again, while facing a different wall to place the tripwire between those two points. If a survivor touches a tripwire, it explodes, damaging the survivor.
Survivors can disarm the trap by performing a short channel at one of the two points.
Special Ability: Proximity Trap;
Hold the power button while facing a generator, totem, exit gate, or chest to place a proximity trap. If a non-crouching survivor moves within 8m of the trap, it explodes, damaging all survivors within 8m.
Survivors can disarm a proximity trap by performing a very difficult skill check. Failing this skill check will cause the trap to explode
Special Ability: Safe Teleportation
At the start of a match, 10 safes will spawn around the map. Hold the active ability button to teleport to a safe.
After teleporting to a safe, it will become unusable for the rest of the trial.
Add-ons
UR Add-on, Iridescent File;
Safes become usable again after 60 seconds. When stunned, you will teleport to the nearest safe.
UR Add-on, Brain Collection;
Reveal the aura of all survivors within 12m of an unused safe.
Perks
Perk, Kleptophobia;
If a survivor interacts with a chest or picks up an item, they become exposed for 20/30/40 seconds.
While a survivor is holding an item, exposed status effects last 50% longer.
Perk, Unbridled Rage;
Whenever you are stunned by a survivor, that survivor becomes exposed for 15 seconds.
Whenever you down an exposed survivor, all survivors in your terror radius become exposed for 30 seconds.
Perk, Cruel Decline;
When you damage a generator, gain a 10% stackable bonus to bloodpoints gained after the trial, up to a max of 50/70/100%.
When you damage a generator, that generator immediately loses 5% progress.
Survivor: Sebastian Castellanos
Perks
Perk, Hard-Boiled;
If you would go from the healthy state into the dying state, you instead become broken for 100/80/60 seconds.
Perk, Handyman;
The first time you plunder a chest, you are guaranteed to find a mechanic's toolbox.
Increases the speed at which you interact with killer’s belongings and cleanse totems by 10/15/20%
Perk, Safe Haven;
While injured & in a chase, Safe Haven gains a token every 20 seconds, up to a maximum of 3/4/5 tokens. While outside the killer's terror radius, if you or another survivor starts to heal you, gain 10% progress for every token and then lose all tokens.
Notes
- Hard-Boiled is inspired by a scene near the start of The Evil Within, where Sebastian is after being cut by The Sadist’s chainsaw and has to run away. Chainsaws are an instadown in DBD, so a perk that lets you avoid being instadowned seemed apropos.
- There must be at least a 45-degree angle between the two points while placing the tripwire. You can’t just place it on both sides of a window.
- In comparison to the Trapper, The Keeper has an easier time blocking off sections of the map, can more easily set up traps at the start of the game, and can more easily slow down the game.
- The Trapper can hide bear traps in the grass and around corners to more easily catch survivors by surprise, and they use their ability mid chase to block pallets. They can also use their ability to block off windows and doorways which wouldn’t be easy to place tripwires.
- While purposefully similar killers, I feel there is enough distinction in their kits to make them both fun to play for different reasons. Think of it like Cannibal and Hillbilly or Ghostface and Shape.
