Need To Get Better But How?
I'll be real with you buster, I'm 1K hours in and I'm still laughably terrible at this game. But I want to get better. I'd consider chases my weakness, single handily costing my team many, many games. How can I get better? I've tried watching content creators to learn new ways to run loops but I still get caught easily. I don't want to be a burden to my teammates anymore

Assuming you're exclusively talking about the survivor side, the biggest advice I can give is play killer a bit. Try getting better as killer, see other survivors, and methods they use to outplay you. You'll eventually see some really strong survivors and their strategies in action, and get more of an understanding as to 'why' those plays work.

Blay both sides. You learn a lot about killers, their strength and their weakness. You can choose a killer you have problems with, you will learn how to play against them.

Pretty much this. Try it all. See how others loop, try to mind game them. I sucked as killer until I started doing 50-50 survivor-killer and got a feel of what survivors do.
And don't be afraid to lose. No shame in it, just another lecture.

Run object of obsession, resilience, dead hard, spine chill. You will die a lot but getting the killer to chase you all the time is good practice.

Well I’m learning chases too and I’m slowly getting better at it. I’ll share what I’ve been learning lately since I’m still practicing it and it’s fresh in my mind.
When running jungle gyms, you often lose sight of the killer. You need to know where are the safe places in the jungle gym to stop and wait for the killer to appear, and then where to run from there. I used to wait at the worst places when I lose sight of the killer because I didn’t know the jungle gyms well enough and didn’t know how to run them, so often I was out of position and the killer could just catch up and M1 me.
Many of these locations take advantage of the fact that no matter which direction the killer appears from, you have enough time to react and run the other way and reach a safe spot (pallet or window) without the killer catching up to you and getting a hit.
Edit: Thought I would add, this is not something necessarily you could learn from playing killer because many of these locations take advantage of the third person view of the survivor, where the survivor can see the killer but not the other way around.

Play both roles, understand the counters to each killer as each killer changes how you need loops and the routing you need to take. Other than that load into a custom match 1v1 check out the tiles and layouts of the maps, alot of structures like killershack, building dont move. Knowing the maps is huge but doing a 1v1 allows you to slowing check out all maps and loops against each killer. Perks like spinechill help, dead hard will as well. Kindred and borrowed are great for you and your team. But YOU DONT HAVE TO BE PERFECT AT CHASES, like seriously I can run killers for ages without perks and I could still die, the important things is you last as long as you can but do good saves and do gens, most games that go bad are due to alot of people going for saves instead of gens etc. Escaping means little though, just have fun tbh

Essentially, you want to learn the most effective ways to go around loops. You need to learn how to read killers, because a misdirection can cost them a good 10-15 seconds and let you get into a safer loop. You need to understand how to route tiles together if they're close enough together (e.g. a lonely pallet right outside a jungle gym). It also helps to know what killers are most likely to expect from you

What I do is have an Escape Route planned before I HOP on a gen so I know the exact route I plan to take. I'm not expect Aguilar Survivor by any means I play mostly killer I'd say about 70% of the time. I have terrible luck is killer I only seem to get three Maps Haddonfield, Auto Haven, and McMillan truthfully I hate all the maps the only ones I get excited for or Hawkins at midwich because I see them so rarely but I noticed when I started Chase maybe it's just my luck but I feel like I have to eat seven pallets a Chase I know if I'm using my top three killers not that big of a deal they're built for it oh and I use the other 90% of my roster it becomes a problem when I have this bad RNG this game I just played it was probably the worst I've ever had hey baby Meg could have ran me through that map for 30 minutes I feel like. I suck as a survivor and I'm finding it easier to run killers which tells me that there are much more resources being put into the maps.

I know Windows of opportunity helped me a lot to track down resources throughout the map just a thought help me a lot when I was learning Survivor I still use it from time to time.

To be good at chasing you gotta understand the map and understand which Killer you are fighting and how they will go about It.
The best I can say is focus on seeing where pallets are around you before you do anything and any windows in the area. Next, when being chased try not to keep the killer on you as much as lose them, If you stun them or they break a pallet quickly try to find a spot to hide at..Not, a locker however they will hear that. When going to the spot make sure you walk to It..or Better yet run away a bit more then find another area to hide, by the time the Killer finds your marks they might be faded or you will be long gone.

Play both killer and survivor is my first point if you allready haven't.
Try adjusting your builds a bit maybe?
I'd suggest to run then Windows of opportunity and kindred.
That way you see what pallets are still there and extent your looping more.
With kindred you can play your routing easier when going for the unhook as well as finding your teammates.
And they can get a lot of info when you're on the hook as well

Remember that you as a survivor are in control at most tiles against a lot of the killer roster. The killer can shorten the loop or mindgame to an extent, but most loops are safe to varying degrees. If you aren't already doing it, you need to look behind you while running and pay attention to what the killer is doing. Don't just put your head down, hold W, or start panic vaulting a pallet.
