Why is coup de grace still not activatable on button.
Like seriously? This perk has so much potential but its just completely destroyed by the fact that it again has plenty of requirements like every other killer perk...

You’re talking about a perk that can 100% guarantee 5 hits throughout the match (unless the killer is terrible).
Of course the requirements will be strict for something that absolutely guarantees a hit on a survivor.

Coup de Grace shouldn't consume a token if the lunge doesn't exceed the default lunge distance. It's a simple QoL change and makes the perk a little better with killers like Myers and also counters dead hard directly (maybe).

I feel like you might be over estimating how strong of a perk it is

Here's a better question: Why was it even nerfed in the first place?
15 -
I mean , it costs a generator to use. It's better than fire up but a gen is a pretty big price for just 1 hit.

Honestly I wish they'd scrap the amount of uses in the first place.
Just decrease the percentage and make it a permanent passive increase to your lunge distance as the game goes on.
Currently it's just a trash perk.

I’d prefer this as well, kinda like Fire Up.

Basically.
They could also make the tokens work like DH if they wanted as well. IE it rewards you for playing in a way that's more fun for survivors since you're leaving the hook and letting them rescue. I like the idea of more perks that give incentive to "fun" game play.
They've got some options with coding that already exists.
Side idea. Reverse Fire Up. You start the game with max tokens and lose them as gens get completed. Interesting thought.

I’m pretty sure it doesn’t. I’ve done short range lunges before and didn’t lose my tokens for it.
As for the perk itself, I kinda like it on killers who mainly M2. Huntress, Billy, Bubba, etc. So you have a tendency to have a few stacks saved and can dump them into a bad chase to quickly end it or clutch out a hit you really need.

Because then killers would have something akin to Dead Hard.
2 -
What button do you suggest for console? A button not dedicated to a power on some killers

1 hit per generator that is not a good trade-off
It takes two hits to down a survivor if if they heal up again and you managed to hit them down with no interruptions for example a save and hook them it takes 6 hits altogether to to kill somebody.
There are four survivors making that a total of 24 hits altogether.
5 guaranteed hits means nothing especially when you practically have to throw the game to get them.
Hell even as a killer who mostly uses their power like huntress or Billy it's not worth it you'll either just end up doing your job with their power and barely needing to basic attack to make the Perk slot worth it or you will have to force out their heads at which stage you're not getting any file you because you could just play normally

Because you can already save stacks by doing a short lunge and getting closer up to the survivor. There's no need to make it activation and it would take the counterplay out of it, as you would never be able to tell when a killer is about to use it.

It's amazing! Almost as useless as Monstrous Shrine. Yet it got nerfed on release.
But at least they started with the perks being terrible on release instead of having good perks for a few months, only to nerf them so hard, that no one will use them ever again.
So that's a plus, I guess.

I think it’s pretty good on Myers. He is typically gonna lose a gen for his first tier 3 anyways and the lunge goes ridiculously far. If he gets 2 downs in a row he can end the game off it.
No matter which way you slice it the coup lunge is extremely strong anti loop. It’s also very satisfying to use even if it ends up being a flex perk sometimes.
0 -
that's not entirely true, whenever I do lunges with coup de grace regardless of if I exceeded normal lunge it automatically consumes a token.
0 -
Well it's fair enough but being you're depending on losing to get it's full effect.
If you're used to killing people and coup de grace with 4 to 3 gens left this perk is useless

I mean sometimes I don’t feel like sweating too hard and want to run some meme/fun perks instead of the meta; especially against console solo Qs where half the team is probably going to be incompetent at looping anyways.
I have been playing a fair amount of coup / endfury Myers and honestly I win most of my games without needing either.
But it’s still hilarious to lunge halfway across the shack at somebody, get a pallet smashed over my head, spirit fury it off, and then make another massive lunge to end the game.

Kek.
You got me there can't deny I do love my meme builds. I'll have to try out that Myers one

I just wish it increased the speed too. It feels so weird.
I think it can be a decent perk but with only 5 uses in a losing match their isn't much room for experimentation.
0 -
Also it would probably be very awkward to press a different button to lunge only 5 times per match when some killers already have all their controller buttons used(clown Freddy etc)
0 -
just like deadhard guarantees an escape when you failed at looping? or extends the loop by another 1-2 runs just by pressing one button
0 -
thats what i wanted in the first place, but in the end why should it not be on a button, deadhard user can decide when to use it but with coup de grace, which is literary the equivalent for killer, the killer has literary 0 control about the perk

This is the buff it needs. Maybe something else too but this is a great start

You'd have to ask someone who develops the game to ever rework a perk this into something usable. I think Almo is dev so good luck convincing him to change this perk.
I can think of numerous variations of this perk that could be used.
1 - Obsession perk that works like Remember Me, Every time you hit the obsession gain 1 token of 60% lunge distance, every time you hit non-obsession, lose 1 token. If he was concerned about Legion using this perk, he can put basic attack condition on it so legion can't farm tokens (no clue why this would be problem though).
2 - Works like Unrelenting, Passive increases lunge distance 20,25,30%.
3 - Works like Pop goes weasel, Every time you hook a survivor, gain an increased lunge for x seconds(45?).
Current variation of the perk. I think only one killer can really use it and that killer is deathslinger. Its because he can pull survivors towards him so he can consistently get baby swings from hitting his gun and when he hits a shot on a loop that he can't pull, he can consume a stack to get a hit but it is not really worth it.

This was my exact thought for this perk. I think it keeps the perk nice, simple, and consistent - as well as giving it a fair improvement.

I'd actually prefer for it to only use a token when it extends the lunge. If you do a normal or shorter lunge, it shouldn't be used.
