Lore

Harold Wilkins, in all his altruistic ways, couldn't help but accept the pleas of a young man in dishevelled rags - asking for work and a place to stay on a stormy night. And such a new groundskeeper was hired in the Churchill cemetery in London. The young man was extremely gaunt and deformed - both physically with his wiry limbs and protruding jaw, and from what Harold could tell, the boy wasn't right in the head. Nonetheless he set him to work (for dirt cheap) as a groundskeeper on the night shift and left the fellow to his own devices. Soon however, there was a sharp increase in graverobbing's around London, including Churchill's cemetery. When people began to go missing, Harold noticed that the new groundsman had been remarkably busy with fresh gravedigging.

Harold decided to do his own digging on his 'employee', and found police reports and newspapers from nearby states of a serial killer, thief and graverobber named 'the ghoul' that began his spree with light thievery and graverobbing, before killing and defiling the victims he robs before burying them in unmarked graves.

Harold found a police profile for the only suspect, a young deformed boy (at the time of the report) named Lester Huggins, who, according to the report, suffered from severe kleptomania and dissociative personality. He was never caught and seemingly disappeared into thin air.

His profile reads as:

Highly dangerous and unpredictable; He seeks to collect whatever items he deems worth keeping or pretty, and the owners of such items pests to be dealt with.

Lester's mother abandoned him at an orphanage briefly after birth due to his deformities, likely a case of gigantism. He was raised in secret by a caring nun, but the cruelty of the disapproving coven and the outside world shaped Lester's heart into one of extreme vanity and cruelty, as his only comforts in his solitude in the cellars of the Church were the shiny keepsakes and ceremonial items they discarded down there. He then got a knack for stealing keepsakes whenever he could, and one day when caught by a church-goer leaving the pews at night, Lester greedily strangled the man over his watch, and buried him in the backyard cemetery before disappearing.

Harold took this information, namely the provided picture of the boy's profile with a deformed chin who looked exactly like his employee, and went straight to the police.

Lester was finishing up a new grave when he heard the sirens, saw the bright flashing lights and the growls of police dogs on chains and new it was time to move on. He greedily stopped to collect his rucksack of keepsakes, allowing the dogs to catch his scent and before he knew it he was cornered. He desperately jumped into an empty grave to hide, dropping his keepsakes everywhere. Lester was surrounded in fog as he entered the grave and when he climbed out he was alone and in a strange place. His keepsakes were gone.

He was just going to have to find more, and The Ghoul was more than prepared to bury those that would stop him.

Design

The ghoul is an extremely tall, lanky, pale and gaunt killer. Similar to Lurch from the Addams family.

The best visualisation I could find was from Wizard 101:

Head - Bald and bone deformities - jutting jaw, few rotted teeth, bulbous protruding forehead, wonky eyes

Body - completely tattered clothes, soil covered, mostly gone / shredded. Has one extremely soil-covered shoe that has big holes, other foot is bare. Legs and arms are extremely long, skinny and bonnily deformed. Walks like a pvz zombie with one twisted leg.

The Ghoul is a very tall and skinny silhouette

Movement

·        He walks with a limping shuffle

·        All his animations are slack and lazy like a zombie

o   Limply steps over windows to vault

o   Break action is to slam shovel head down bluntly twice

·        He makes a moaning sound as he moves around.

Weapon

·        Shovel - an old, soiled rusty shovel , used for digging graves - for the living or dead.

Attack animation

·        Drives the shovel point forward in an overhead swing.

Reload animation

·        Hammer fists the shovel, shaking off blood and soil.

Power - Gravedigger

As a seasoned graveyard worker and graverobber, The Ghoul is an expert at burying and tormenting the living.

The Ghoul's power, Gravedigger, Has 6 charges that replenish over time

·        Holding M2 will cause The Ghoul to dig a shallow grave into the ground.

o   Survivors that run over the shallow grave will fall in and become trapped, having to complete a 10 second interaction to escape.

·        If the Ghoul reaches the survivor in the grave, Instead of picking them up the Ghoul can only spend 3 tokens to bury them, the equivalent of hooking them although there won't be the bonuses of hook perks.

·        The Ghoul will not be alerted when a player has fallen into his grave.

·        Players that are put into the dying state whilst in a grave will instantly be buried.

·        Survivors can cover up shallow graves by performing interactions, however any survivor interacting with a shallow grave when the buried is activated will be injured.

·        The Ghoul can press Spacebar to take a large step over his graves

CTRL - The Buried

·        The Ghoul can press CTRL to spend 3 tokens and cause grasping hands of the dead to injure any players in or near shallow graves.

o   This gives the ghoul more damage capabilities as he can damage trapped survivors he can't reach, or injure multiple survivors freeing a trapped victim .

o   Cooldown of 60 seconds.

The idea behind his kit is that he is a map control trapper, who traps survivors in his sparsely placed graves, however he is rewarded by either getting a quick hook at the cost of tokens, or if he is smart he can injure survivors that he cannot reach.

Downsides - no map coverage, takes time to create graves, Unlike trapper survivors can escape more easily and so a trapped survivor is never a guaranteed hook - hence The buried. Also doesn't get notified. Also gets disrupted by his own graves.

So in essence he's like trapper but has to use his graves more wisely, and can get much better damage across multiple survivors by using the buried.

Add ons

Aspects that add ons can change:

·        Increased difficulty to escape from shallow graves

·        Increased recharge rate of charges

·        Increased time to seal graves

·        Decreased time to dig graves.

·        Trapped survivors can now be seen from a certain distance

·        Survivors gain a lingering effect where they can still be hurt by the buried.

·        Decreased cooldown of the buried

Ultra:

·        Survivors that fall into traps will automatically be injured - however they cannot be buried. (spiked traps)

·        Graves are now invisible, however they each cost 2 tokens to create. (fresh soil)

Mori

The ghoul impales the survivor in the belly with the tip of his shovel and hoists them high in the air over his head, looking at them inquisitively. He then slams them down on the ground and pulls his shovel out. The survivor starts to sit up concussed when the Ghoul slams his shovel into their face with the blunt side like a bat, making a dull thud.

Perks

Precious keepsakes

Upon starting a match, the entity will block all totems for 80/100/120 seconds.

Nomadic thief

Upon downing a survivor, gain the undetectable status effect for 5/10/15 seconds. 60 second cooldown.

Graverobber

Survivors that cleanse totems or open chests do so much louder. Survivors that successfully cleanse a totem within your terror radius will suffer from the exposed status effect for 5/6/7 seconds.
