How does the lore explain that killers play in 1st, survivors in 3rd person though?

That has nothing to do with the lore , that's the gameplay mechanics . its like saying Dwight has eyes on her shoulders O_O

I think it can be chalked up to the Survivors having heightened senses in the Realm.

The heartbeat for instance, is not the Survivor heartbeat but rather the Killer's heartbeat that the Survivors have fine turned their hearing for. Benedict Baker explains this in his journal.

By extension, you could assume the Survivors are capable of know their entire surroundings due to increased survival instincts.

But why does the killers heartbeat need to sound like he is about to get caught doing something he shouldn't? It sounds like the heartbeat is the survivors hearing their own heart instead of the killers.

Couldnt answer that for ya buddy. I would chalk that up to gameplay mechanic, but I suppose maybe the survivor is just "hearing more beats." I'm just telling you what the canon says haha

If you watch some of the earlier videos on the DbD YouTube channel, they e plicitly state that the heartbeat is the survivors. I’m guessing that since the survivors have all these aura reading abilities that the entity has granted them some level of psychic ability that they all share with each other and the killers at different levels.

The heartbeat rising could be them just KNOWING the killer is getting closer and that thought is causing their heart to beat really fast

I dont have to watch videos on YouTube because I read Baker's journal where it explicitly states the heartbeat belongs to the Killer.

The Terror Radius emanates from the Killers.

That’s exactly what I was thinking, and I wasn’t sure if it was done because mechanically it was easier, or if it was a misspeak in the lore, I’ll have to sift through the videos and QandA to be certain because I believe I saw it in one of those!

It said it in Benedict Baker's Journal, which is now erroneously gone from the DbD official website. Hmmm.

“Maybe it is the will to survive that makes me even more alert to sounds. Sight is limited in this darkened part of the world. In this case their Heartbeats. Not my own, but instead the Killers’ as they close in on me. I just hope that they do not pick up on mine as my heart races for every thump I can hear even clearer. "
    ~ Benedict Baker's Journal, Nov. 1896

"Again, my senses have proven to be the keys to my survival. If my heartbeat rings in my ears, the Killer is close. If I see the "red stain" in my surroundings, the Killer is even closer!"

I found these two quotes on the Dead By Daylight wiki, and they are contradictory statements about the Lore.

This is the description about the heartbeat:

"The Heartbeat, as the name states, is a heartbeat sound effect heard by Survivors within the so-called Terror Radius of a Killer. The Terror Radius is set at a default range of 32 metres, that can change from Killer to Killer.

The Heartbeat is intended to induce fear and anxiety into the Survivors, but also acts as a warning sound effect for an approaching Killer.

According to Benedict Baker's Journal, the Heartbeat heard by the Survivors is not their own, but the Killer's. However, this is contradicted by a Mysterious Note found in The Fog, which states that it is indeed the Survivors' own heartbeat that they hear."

It doesn't cite where the two quotes were found exactly. Be they both from the website, or the game itself.
