Killing Three Birds w/One Stone (Gen-Rush, Survivors Ignoring Totems, & Complaints about NOED)

I have a suggestion to make, and I know some people will be horrified. However, I think it would solve three issues all at once, hence the title of this thread. I think that NOED should vanish as a Perk and become, built into the game. The purpose is to make sure that all Players know and understand the purpose of Totems. Is it harsh? Yes. Is it heavy-handed? Yes. But it is getting to the point where it might not be a bad idea. Also, for the record, I think NOED is fine as it is designed now. The following suggestion is made because I do think there is an issue of Generator speed that would be affected by having the Survivors spend more time on Totems, and I'm sure all of us are sick of the endless posts about NOED.

  1. NOED would be removed as a Perk and become a basic game mechanic.
  2. Once the required Generators are powered, if there is an unlit Totem, it lights up and become NOED, i.e. built into the game. It has the following changes.
  3. Any Survivor who has not cleansed at least one Totem (lit or unlit) by this point is Exposed.
  4. The switches which allow one to start opening the Gates are blocked by the Entity for an amount of time based on how many Totems are left. 5 Totems = 60 seconds, 4 Totems = 45 seconds, 3 Totems = 30 seconds, 2 Totems = 20 seconds, and 1 Totem = 10 seconds.
  5. Finding and cleansing the now lit NOED will end all the negative effects immediately.

This approach would punish Survivors who ignored Totems more than those who do not. It would still affect the entire team, which pushes home the need for everyone to consider doing Totems. It is possible to still get out even if you never cleanse the NOED, but it will slow you down (more if you didn't do any). This built in pressure for every match would take some pressure off the Gen-Rush because Totems are now an equal objective for consideration. Last but not least, being a built in part of the game as an objective removes the need for complaining about the Perk.

I mean they had a perk that made survivors have to cleanse totems with undying but they're nerfing it because survivors doing anything other than gens is bad so...I like the suggestion but they won't do it.

i actually really like it, it's like a side objective that actually make you bother about totems because if you do not, you get punished for it i'm rank 1 killer and rank 1 survivor and actually i think the game will be better

Damn, you went hardcore on this. NOED basekit!!!

If this gets a lot of up votes, it will only confirm the alleged killer bias of the forums, lol.

Honestly, it is not a bad idea. I would say maybe not lock the gates tho. You have earned the right to open the gates if you finish the gennys. Sure there will be the risk of NOED, but if you get the gate open and choose to leave, you should be able. The gates locked with NOED would make Blood Warden god tier.

I think the other problem you will run into is it will be a Noob stomper tho. Salty dogs will adapt, it will make for interesting end game plays. But noobs will just be crushed with the extra time in game, doing totems and the NOED endgame.

But I like where you are going. Thumbs up from me.
