Is the Undying+Ruin nerf going to be worse for survivors?
Today I came across a streamer talking about the changes to Undying, and saying how it's actually going to promote gameplay that survivors dislike most, which is camping. The way Undying+Ruin is now is heavily promoting the killer to move around the map frequently rather than stays sat in one area, and I think he is correct, and I'm starting to think the streamer has a point, but wanted to discuss it. What do you lot think?

No I don't think that. Even If more Killers now think they have to Camp there is a simple answer for that, punish Camping near the hook.

I don't see why the undying nerf would promote camping? You never needed to camp before this perk came out so I don't know how it'll be any different unless those killers became reliant on the combo. Pop and corrupt will probably become the standard again, and you need to FIND gens to actually use pop, so constantly moving away from the hook. And a lot of people are probably gonna try devour+Undying, which also encourages and rewards you for not camping the hook.

Survivors will get longer queues and more campers. Just watch how the forum will complain about those 2 things after the patch dropped.

From my assumption, the way undying and ruin is different than corrupt and pop is that pop can be worked around whereas ruin and undying somewhat cannot, especially for high mobility killers
With undying and ruin all the killer has to do is run someone off a generator. Especially with perks like Surveillance they just go across the map and regress gens and amidst that down people
For pop you may not be able to regress gens that easily in comparison, especially when there are two generators being repaired. If I was a Freddy for example, in the instance of Surveillance and I see two generators being worked on and tinkerer activates, if I had undying and ruin I can basically be in two places at once and regress both generators very easily, whereas if I had pop I would only be able to defend one generator and not do much else about the other, and I'd be more paranoid about the generator with more progress (even if I had pop) being done if I'm going across the map after my pop is gone, so I'd try to stay relatively near unless the gen is simply not worth defending

I'd argue that many campers felt comfortable camping because they had ruin undying.
No you will actually have to apply your own pressure, and not have a couple of perks do it for you.
Not you as in personally, killer in general.

Survivors were complaining about ruin even BEFORE undying came out. Undying + ruin will still be a solid combo or if you want to use ruin solo then you can.

Every slowdown Perk which promotes healthy gameplay gets nerfed.
With no slowdown, you have to slug and proxy camp at red ranks most of the time. It's boring but necessary because the Devs always nerf any slowdown Perk which promotes healthy gameplay.

Nope slowdown perks are unhealty because you have to do gens even longer. (Press M1 more... Wow great gameplay)

By Q times were already instant during the day before undying, why do you think it will change? See s by your comment, that only new killers who werent here before undying were actually being carried by it? Weird..

Old ruin was the most complained thing in this game. New ruin, not so much. I haven't seen much posts about new ruin on forums so you are right with that. I did see a lot of people say the new ruin was strong in chat/steam forums.

I have survivor queues of 5 to 10 minutes as red rank survivor.
When i open the forum in the evening, there are between 3 and 5 threads about long survivor queues.
BUT you have instant lobbies. Sure mate, whatever you say.

Many killer mains switched to survivor or started playing something else. Undying helped with the current gen speed issue. But nerfing it, will result in more killers quitting. Matches of 4-5 minutes are normal, when i play as survivor. I wait longer in the queue than what i actually play.

Queue times are also quite time related. Right now around 1pm killer queues are long and survivors short, while at the evening when there are probably more SWF online the killer queues are short and survivor long. It really depends when you play.
But back to topic. I don't think that the Undying+Ruin-nerf will harm survivors that much. KRed rank killers are already sweating and the combo was mostly strong against weaker/unlucky players. I personally think the new MMR will have a much higher impact ont he player experience in general.

Old ruin was the most complained thing in the game at rank 20. Fixed it for you.

I do have instant lobbies during the day as a red rank survivor tho. It only takes 5-10 minutes at night in UK time.

Makes no sense? If you read the dev notes of when ruin was changed, they said it was because people were having issues hitting skillchecks.
I have not once seen a red ranked survivor or even purple complaining about old ruin. They would either hit the greats or gen tap.
Can't give you a less boring reply if it was changed because of "skill checks are hard".
Old ruin was fine how it was. The game shouldn't be balanced around new players.

we'd probably see less killers = longer queues.
because a lot more killer players will feel pushed out by not having that safety net and that time to play the game without feeling like getting gen rushed. only the strongest and sweatiest or people who can adapt once again will survive.

I did say old ruin was a little bit frustrating and I still stand by it. And I was a red rank survivor myself. Old ruin was extremely passive and even if you are afk, it would work to its fullest potential. Which means it gives more time for facecampers to...facecamp more people. The current iteration of ruin fixed this issue and required the killer to be more active to squeeze value out of the perk.
Frustration that a particular mechanic can cause should be considered as much as balance. Devs said object is statistically bad but it feels frustrating for someone to have their eye on you wherever you go. It is frustrating to get facecamped. PH's zoning was frustrating and the devs did address it. Frustration is a very important factor to consider and alot of devs hire specialists for this purpose.

The problem with it being frustrating, is that it doesn't mean it's OP.
Going against doctor is frustrating and annoying, is doctor OP? No. Same thing with old ruin. It wasn't OP, and yes it was used by 99% of people at red ranks, but so is bbq, so is dead heard, etc. A perk being overly used doesn't mean it is OP, specially in this game when there are so many situational perks and perks that give you no value whatsoever.
Undying + Ruin was unhealthy for solo q. Old ruin was fine for solo Q and still gave the slowdown value that killers need.

I mean new undying is how the perk should have been from the start. A second life for your totem at the cost of a perk slot

While I agree that Ruin/Undying is not needed, I dont think that Corrupt Intervention deserves any Nerf. IMO it is one of the best designed Perks in the game, the Killer has guaranteed value out of it without any chance that the Perk will be oppressive, since it lasts a limited duration.

I have an idea who this Streamer might be. But everytime something on the Killer-Side gets nerfed (which is most of the time justified, even tho Killers like to say that things got "gutted"), they say "Yeah, Killers will do more tunneling and camping". And no, they dont, bad Killers do that anyway.

If survivor queues are slow, than my killer queues will be even faster. Since I don't use ruin/undying (I don't own either killer), its no bother to me.
It seems to me the people that are complaining the loudest about this nerf also proclaim that they get 4k's every match and that ruin undying isn't a crutch. There is a logic problem there, if you don't need it then who cares if there is a SMALL nerf. If you do crutch on it, then admit that and let's move the discussion forward and talk about why. Then maybe, we can actually fix the root problem and make the game more fun for both sides.

Yes, why? Do you think a anti tunnel, a anti slug, a douch perk and a perk which you have to earn is Not healthy? So that you can always tunneled and sluged?

DS as it is currently is not anti-tunnel, it's 60 seconds of blanket immunity to do what you want, Dead Hard can greatly extend loops, Unbreakable can essentially restart the game and deny a massive amount of pressure from the killer and Adrenaline can straight up deny a killer a well earned kill if all the gens get done, the only one I'd consider healthy is Soul guard and that's only if it's run by itself, putting it together with DS, UB and Dead Hard lets the survivor essentially be invincible, that does not strike me as healthy

If your really camping just because your totems are gone you suck XD
Ruin allows you to get a lot of hooks early game before many gens get done if you keep going after the ones doing gens, i use it on legion by itself and usually get 2-3 hooks before a gen gets completed or ruin gets cleansed.
It's a hex perk you can't expect it to last throughout most of the game not even with undying.

In my opinion, I believe that the queues of survivors will increase and there will be fewer killers and more camping and tunneling because the generators will fly again. I play with any perks but there are killers who are still learning and they will be affected.

actually I expect more "23k player on steam community in-game why I sit 23 minutes for lobby?" along with a lot of deerstalker games

At that point, youw ould see nothing but undying/ruin/corrupt/deerstalker (or corrupt/pop/surveillance or discordance/deerstalker or overcharge) doctors so they wouldn't have to worry about finding survivors while using the perk slots for that sweaty combo and calm spirit would just make survivors need to drop a second chance would be their hope. meaning choose between unbreakable, ds, or iron will to fit in calm spirit. Or drop spinechilla nd it's vault and exit gate opening bonus. I wouldn't be surprised to see blood warden/noed start showing up either with potatoheads out of frustration. Nothing is more comical than "afk wraith we on easy street" just to get suddenly blood wardened on a couple or few guys. No matter how you try to spin this, thoughts don't change reality, it's gonna be a dark winter for survivor mains. If more killers drop it'll happen through longer queues, if they don't drop it'll happen through more frustrating gameplay after waiting on a lobby hoping it's not just to be the first or second guy they find. It might be time to give civilization 6 a try if you picked it up on the last steam sale. I hear it's pretty good if you decide you need to take a break from dbd

when they're sitting and camping is the time anybody with half a brain knows it's time to slam gens against ruin, then go and find the totems once the killer is active again. ruin only does anything for a camper if the other survivors are brain dead or for some reason haven't figured out the killer is camping. If theyr eally balance the game around the most braindead players it'll definitely ruin the game in the end. Since anybody with two brain cells is going to abuse that until no one is willing to provide them entertainment any longer. I saw it happen to another game during the lockdowns last year, so event hat wouldn't save a game from one too many patches balancing around a game's downies. That's the most junk 'balance' philosophy ever and I'll never play another game that makes it's patch focus making the idgits happy again unless it's purely to abuse the imbalance to frustrate the other side for the entertainment value.
