3 Gen strategy?

I've noticed that if I just pick out the 4 closest together generators and defend those with a little pressure for show on the other nearby gens, that survivors will go out of their way to give me a 3 gen. Doesn't really matter if they're Rank 20 or Rank 1. They will rush to give me that 3 gen as fast as possible.

Sure I'm giving away usually 2 gens for free, but the late game makes it worth it. The survivors get cocky and start making some really dumb plays because I let 2 gens pop quickly. Sometimes they give me 3 gens that are so close I barely need to patrol. I find this strategy really effective versus teams that knock out gens super quick. They usually use up those brand new parts and purple toolboxes on the first couple of gens that I was going to let them have anyway.

I can't help but laugh at how simple this is and how willing the survivors are to give me this gift. Insidious Hag is the best. You just set up your traps and wait in the middle of your territory. Hit after hit after hit. ######### gets real, if I'm also defending a Devour Hope or Ruin totem and basement in that area.

When I play survivor I intentionally go to the other side of the map to avoid a killer doing this to us. I rarely see survivors do that when I'm killer.

What about other killers? Do you play for the intentional 3 gen strategy?

How about survivors? What do you do if anything to make sure you aren't giving this too easy. Playing both sides it appears that most survivors just do the closest gen regardless. I honestly didn't start using this strategy until I started playing survivor and noticed this behavior.

Congrats, youve figured out the best way to allow a 12 hook 4k game. Or at least 10-11 hook 3k. AND without tunneling/camping!

Ive done this strat for as long as I can remember. Start the game, pick 4 gens, forget the other 2

It confuses me when they fail to realize the 3 gen

It's very effective overall. I usually don't do it in normal matches simply because I don't have to. I can be really aggro and do fine.

For tournaments, yeah... I'm usually hooking the first person I down in a 3 gen and camping to struggle if I'm not going to throw by doing so. A 3 gen strat doesn't work against 4 coordinated survivors with Prove Thyself in the mix. 3 survivors, yes. But not 4. Need somebody out of the game for it to work.

Yes. Survivors take the Generators of least resistance MOST of the time. You can control where they go work if you desire.
