About Pyramid Head and the last changes he received
To preface this, yes I main PH but I typically play both sides equally.
Back in late September, he received very questionable changes to power. These include:
- After cancelling Rites of Judgement:
- Movement speed is 3.68 m/s for 1 second
- Further attacks cannot be made for 1 second
- Cooldown before further attacks after Punishment of the Damned reduced from 2.75 seconds to 2.25 seconds
This was supposedly to stop people from doing m2 into m1 at windows/pallets (Which was needed), but Otzdarva proved it was still possible with practice.
They also decreased the recovery on Punishment of the Damned to be faster than a basic attack. which was not the right call, as this will lead to people cornering you and spamming Punishment.
With all these changes, PH feels very mishandled and clunky.
Let's think up a scenario: You spawn in a trial as PH on Mother's Dwelling. Your first goal is to find a survivor, so you go patrol the generators. Since you are PH, you have to leave trails to get use out of your cages, so you leave a small amount of trail at most important loops in your path. But congrats! Because you decided to use your power, you are punished for it. For every loop you trap, you go 8% slower than survivors for 2 seconds. That will add up quickly, especially on big maps like the one in this scenario.
If you use your power a lot to trap areas, just imagine it as having to crouch as Ghostface for an entire 1/3 of the game.
The point is, the slowdown is extremely unnecessary and hurts PH in both strength and fun-factor. It's extremely frustrating to have so many shifts in movement speed when trying to use your power. It's not like Huntress or Deathslinger either, where they have range to make their slowdown needed, and at least in their case, it feels natural.
Honestly, just reverting the slowdown would make him feel so much better. If they are set on keeping the slowdown, then revert the Punishment recovery and let it apply Torment. Or better yet, add more range that scales with how much of your gauge you used.
Semi-rant over, I would love to hear your thoughts on the matter.

I would of been ok with the changes if they just made his wave dash come out just a bit quicker it's like reacting to a huntress hatchet but she's stuck in place if she miss

Honestly, it should be quicker regardless of other changes imo.

Yea we would have to find a balance between death slinger and huntress but I dont like being stuck in place for using my power because I would rather play huntress because part of the reason she is good is because if she misses she's still moving at an reasonable pace

Hm. I wasn't around for PH at launch, but I'm surprised at these changes. Because as it stands it's still the right play to fake your power a lot, I don't feel prevented from doing that.
Would increasing the 'Further attacks cannot be made for 1 second' even more, but reverting the slowdown be an ideal change? Would be much less sluggish leaving his trails around the map.

Yeah, the changes feel very unnecessary since they didn't change what needed changes.
That would certainly be better than what we have now, honestly doing that and allowing PotD to apply torment would land him in a very good spot.

Never bought PH. Wanted to but after nerfs announced basically on day 1 i decided against it. Problem is currently BHVR has decided that nearly every killer should be punished for using their power. Billy/leatherface overheat. Clown gives speedboost even to survivors, plague vile purge solely depends on survivor actions. Its a shame but thats what they decided

I don't think trails should cause you to lose movement, personally.

I don't think i agree. The changes imo was sorta needed. The cages gave too much camping and tunneling power especially if bt and ds didn't work with it. I could be bias but I'm speaking from the perspective of playing against him before the changes.

The changes to his M2 were...questionable. I have no idea why they changed it in that way. If anything it made his power way more spammy. Before if he whiffed his ranged attack the cooldown was enough to let you leave the loop, now you can almost never get anywhere. And the slowdown after cancelling his power does quite literally nothing but make him feel worse to play as.

Slower than survivors for 1 second at loops really hurts him. I like old pyramid better

Bad idea, because that literally will promote more tunneling than majority of PH players already do.

If you want to torment people efficiently, you'll use your power right next to window/pallet to make it less likely to be seen. This means for every area you trap, you go 92% for 2 seconds. You are punished for leaving a non-lethal, very obvious trap that has a time limit.
Also, it just feels extremely awful and clunky.

A little correction: Otzdarva proved it was still possible during that version of the game. It was later patched out in the patch after (undocumented change).
1 -
How? As it is now, you will rarely torment people, making half of his power useless.

Ah, I appreciate the correction!

If y'all wanna buff ph or whatever just let me use windows and pallets please
