Something I've noticed about the strong killers

So I've spent some time looking at the a killer tier list when I realized something. Most of the top tier killers have poor counterplay against stealth with the exception of Compound 21 Blight, Glowing Concoction Huntress, Oni, and Willow add-on Hag. On my quest to escape rank 4, I have been hindered by sniper huntresses, quick scoping slingers, and good nurses (Who mainly screw me over whenever I'm not bringing Dead Hard). Interestingly enough, I rarely see Doctors and Legions. So in my attempt to reach said rank, I decided to use this build.

Off The Record, Kindred, Technician/Q&Q, and Calm Spirit

Needless to say, it worked surprisingly well. It was even better when I got paired with an adept Steve since it meant losing blood, scratch marks, aura, and injured noises after an unhook. With the exception of that double iri doctor and that Slinger who brought 3 information perks, I managed to survive a good amount of times to reach rank 3...

Anyway, personal experiences aside, many of the killers this community really hates are pretty lacking against stealth. I can argue that those urban evading blendettes would be great against Hags and Huntresses if they weren't so allergic to gens, rescues, and running. Is it fun for killers? Not really but so isn't DS/Unbreakable and besides, everyone equips BBQ and you can just play double iri doctor.

TL;DR : Once you reach the rank where nobody plays Doctor and Legion while everyone plays Nurse, Slinger, Spirit, etc, it's time to go back to your roots and do stealth

Stealth is one of the most reliable counters against most killers, but the problem is that it's not easy to progress if you spend too much time hiding.

In theory, sure. In practice stealth has a pretty big flaw. When you are on the hook, the Killer knows where you are. Then after you get unhooked, it is much harder to disappear than the person who rescued you for a multitude of reasons. Then if you get hooked 3 times quickly, your team is basically doomed.

That's why the Survivors Meta is what it is. It is specifically for trying to get the killer to switch targets as often as possible by giving them "better" targets. Even though doing so is not in their best interest.

The game's meta has primarily coalesced around chasing and etc and away from stealth playstyles. Mostly because Survivors, with good objective prioritisation, can afford to loop the Killer and get every gen repaired, so it makes sense that's where the meta ended up going.

Generally speaking though, the best counter to stealth survivors are perceptive killers with good gamesense. As long as you're still working towards objectives, a good killer can and will find you.

As a tangent, I would personally classify Hag as not weak to stealth. Her traps can be numerous and force players to destroy them or trip them (either way revealing their location) to pass, and more importantly she's the best Killer in the game at locking down an area of the map, meaning Survivors HAVE to show their faces against a good Hag to force through her reinforced zones.

I know Hag isn't bad against stealth, I already put her as an example of a top tier killer who wasn't so bad against stealth. It's Urban Evasion that annoys her

I once had a game as Hag where I had to deal with a pair of urban evading blendettes and never have I wished that I was running Mint Rag more than that one match.

I will say that Behavior could potentially make stealth much better than it currently is for Survivors. Like... Killers have the Undetectable status. It blocks every method of revealing the killer except eyeballs, spinechill, and premonition.

Why don't Survivors have any stealth perks that are on that level? I can't name a single perk that blocks all methods Killers have to track Survivors. Off The Record doesn't stop scratches or blood. Babysitter doesn't stop aura reading or injured noises. Distortion doesn't stop blood or injured noises and has way too few tokens besides. Everything else blocks even less.

If we want stealth to be better, Off the Record and Babysitter at least should get buffed to block everything. Though for OtR maybe not for 80 seconds anymore.

Stealth and avoidance work against every killer. Unfortunately some survivors refuse to use the tactic because "lack of fun", but then complain killers are to strong.

Its like chosing to starve because you don't like what's available.

I think the reason they haven't done that is survivors are much smaller than killers, harder to see and have a 3rd person camera to look out for killers. It's much more difficult for killers to visually find survivors compared to the opposite. Then even after finding the survivor the killer will probably still need to chase the survivor. Adding in a single perk for all your stealth needs let's you have stealth plus other options that might be a bit much especially across 4 survivors.

I do kind of see where you're coming from with that, though I do think there might be exceptions. It actually wouldn't surprise me if Jeff was larger than any of the Legion members or Hag.

That said... Off the Record and Babysitter are literally trying to be the stealth variant of Decisive Strike and Borrowed Time respectively. They are... not up to the task. Not even close. I definitely don't think every Survivor Stealth perk should get their version of Undetectable, but those two might actually challenge the two perks they're competing with if they got it. Also connecting that new mechanic to unhooks heavily limits how often it'll actually get used.
