An easy solution to brightness setting's

so I have came up with a very simple and easy solution regarding a brightness setting.
why not just cap the games brightness at what it is now, and have the brightness slider only be able to make the game darker? Also why not have the "recommended brightness" like every other game has nowadays?
for you people who somehow don't know, the recommended brightness thing is where you boot up a game and it says "lower brightness until so or so logo is barely visible" and then the inverse? it would solve the issue of the devs always having to brighten up maps to the point of it being unpleasant to look at.
