Key unable to open hatch

Map: Crotus Prenn Asylum

Character used: Ace

Issue: I found a purple key in a chest during the match. When there was just one other survivor and I (1 generator left), I attempted to open the hatch with the key and no prompt showed up. I dropped the key for the other player to try and he could not open the hatch either. We both ended up dying because the key didn't work.

Do you have any more information on this, for example hatch location on the map etc
