The new injured animation isn't bad at all
This is something that I think people are complaining about simply because it's the hip thing to do, which is get mad about anything and everything BHVR does. But that's just my best guess because I really don't know what's going on in people's heads. These new injured animations... there's simply nothing wrong with them. I don't know what else to say. Would you rather it be less realistic and the survivor not hold their side? And this is not like the UI changes where people don't like how spread out everything is, which is a legitimate reason to hate it. This is literally a case of something new that will grow on you in time.
I think the best refute against the injured animation haters is a reference to another horror game: Resident Evil. The Resident Evil series also has a healthy and injured run animation. And guess what the injured state looks like:
Seem familiar? Hand on your side, limping? It's the exact same thing as the new DBD injured state. And NOBODY has ever complained about Resident Evil's injured state, so why are we?

I personally love the new injured animation because not only do you limp, but sometimes your character will stumble over themselves while running. Definitely more realistic than the old one.
10 -
But why do they run, like they are desperately looking for a toilet?

I hate to break it to you but using resident evil remaster isn't helping your case. The animations aren't good in those games but they get a pass cuz they're old games.
13 -
The issue is not that their are holding their side or whatever, I think the animation looks really stiff and robotic, not really natural.
Also one more thing that kinda breaks it for me is that the Survivors while moving can no longer look up or down, which doesn't help with the realism at all.

Because you are in pain?

I like the walking while injured animation, but the running while injured just looks like they have a cramp from running too much.
3 -
I agree, the walking is actually pretty good! But the running and idle animations really need some work.
0 -
Thats not how you run while in pain.
6 -
Sure, you keep telling yourself that.
First off that's a two-decade old game. People have been saying that the animation we ot in the patch is two generations old in quality. They're wrong. It's FOUR generations behind.
Second off the injured running animation in Code Veronia was actually singificantly better than the poop we got here in DBD 4.5.2. Code Veronica came out on the Dreamcast, a console 4 generations behind where we are right now. And heck it isn't even as good as what Capcom did 20 years, four generations ago!
That's how bad it is.
But sure, keep telling yourself that it's not bad at all.

Is that Remaster? I thought it was Code Veronica lol. Either way.

Then how do you? You wouldn’t limp like before unless your leg got hit. I’ll agree it’s a bit stiff but it makes sense for them to run like that
4 -
Well it would look different. The steps they make are to small.
1 -
can we stop acting like these are facts?
If plenty of people dont think it conveys the story of being injured then perhaps its not good enough, if you like it thats great, but if the majority does not then change is in order right?
4 -
My only issue with the animation is that it isn't too different from the healthy one, which makes me have to double check every time by the blood on the floor if someone is injured, or having to look at the HUD, which honestly, I'd rather not have to
1 -
That’s to make speed boosting perks look a bit better

It looks like they gotta take a #########, and soon.
0 -
None of the animations are bad. People just aren’t used to it that’s why they’re complaining. I guarantee you if the old animations would have been the new ones everyone would have still complained. Same thing about the HUD.

The new animations are atrocious.
While in healthy state and being chased is like you're going for joking without worrying about anything. Chilling.
While injured is like you're going to take a s**t.
And the idle and nodding animations...ohh god. Terrifying.
2 -
Because that's how you choose to see it. People who say that just have a dirty imagination.
1 -
So double standards. Got it.

Running in pain - in my mind’s eye I see as an unsteady, uneven gait. Mostly quick steps with some longer steps mixed in at uneven intervals. The longer steps should look unstable, like you’re falling forward or tripped, but just barely managed to catch yourself.
Anyway, just my opinion.

I like them and I noticed as well, that they don't look far different from other games.
But it is a question of taste. And when 90% of the playerbase don't like them, than it is not the best option to ignore these complaints.
Besides, they could look better for sure. Maybe a little bit more wavering of the upper body or little more stumbling. Something like that.
Humans are creatures of habits and changes after 4 years needs to be better to be accepted.
I just hope for myself that the solution of the devs can satisfy me and the commutiy as well. Because the shitstorm gives the forum a very bitter smack.

Or, spoiler, you can see if they're bleeding and making groans of pain.

I'm not bothered by them at all.

i agree, personally i think the uninjured animations look like #########, especially the idle animations.
if i were to change it, i'd make the survivors look around and tremble, y'know
like they're scared of the killer

Thank you for trying to dictate MY opinion.

I am not a dictator. I am a persuador.

Just because a static screenshot of what looks like an offspin of the (very uneven) Resident Evil series looks kinda like the new animation of DbD doesnt suddenly and magically means that animation is perfect!
What kind of twisted mental gymnastic is that?!
1 -
probably because they are two different games.
0 -
Well I think I made that point clear but I'll say it again. We are complaining about an animation that is the same animation belonging to one of the most celebrated videogame franchises of all time, in which players have zero complaints about the injured animation. People are being blinded by nostalgia and hating on the new animations just because they don't like change. "It's looks like they have to go to the bathroom!" What a bunch of 4-year olds!
1 -
No imagination. I´ve seen people run like this in RL.

I dont think you've read my post, so I'll have to repeat myself :
1) What you shown is a static screenshot. There's not "animation" here, just a pose.
2) Resident Evil is a very, VEEEEEEEEERY uneven series that has way more bad games than good.
Also.... how the hell people could be "blinded by nostalgia"... like... what? You mean people are blinded by nostlgia and dont see how bad RE animations were?
But you know what's pretty funny? The way you didn't show... yaknow, the most recent R2&3 Remake wounded animation....
It's as if, thos actually great animations wouldn't fit in your pretty stupid narrative that "RE GOOD, RE SCREENSHOT LOOKS A BIT LIKE NEW DBD ANIMATION, SO NEW DBD ANIMATION GOOD" (see how stupid that sounds?)

Something seems off with it.
I’d like to see it go through another iteration.

I don't mind them, personally. I prefer the old ones over the new ones, but it's easier for me to look past the animations when there are far more atrocious things in the update.
However, I do think they should bring back the limp, since I feel that would convey the injured state more and help make them not look so constipated.

Different game. This is a very apples to oranges comparison imo
RE is a slower paced game, often you're running to get around faster or running from a slow moving zombie. Chris doing a little jog is ok. In DBD you're more often than not being chased around the map by a huge scary killer, they look like they're kind of jogging. I think I get what they were going for but it looks a little off. Just like the new idle animation they look so....unphased. A little more urgency and fear in the survivors is all it needs.

They're not that bad, they're better than the previous ones
It's just funny. They look that they really want to ######### and can't hold it lol
0 -
I hope someone puts together a montage of the animation now before it gets changed because watching 4 injured Bills running around or an injured urban evading Nea looks really damn funny.
0 -
You are thinking backwards. You say they don't complain on that game which is almost 20 years ago. And what? That makes it the perfect animation cause none of the players complaint back then. But you are missing the point we had so much better animation and they are taken away for no reason. Improvements shouldn't get complains, but this back-in-time animations totally deserve a big ass complain.
0 -
That’s fair but your survivor already takes small steps and almost trips during the animation

I love all the new animations 🤷♂️
