About those new survivor animations
After playing a couple of games as killer and survivor, i kinda see what everyones talking about now. In my honest opinion, i still like the new animations and personally think that they should stay; however, they still need some polishing and the movement should be a bit faster cause it feels kinda slow at times, but that thing where they stop to turn the other direction is actually pretty good and helpful. It should stay in the game tbh, I always hated how they had those crazy fast turns when running side to side during a loop.
Hitboxes are a bit weird right now as well, so they need some work too, especially at pallets. But i think i know whats kind of going on with some of those crazy ass hitboxes that people are experiencing, i think it has something to do with both the killers and survivors perspective. Like, maybe on the killers screen, you’re actually a lot closer for him to lunge at you and then on the survivors screen, it just looks like he’s further away from you and shouldnt be able to hit you but he’s actually REALLY close to you. Another thing i’ve noticed is that after you down a survivor, they launch forward like 3 feet away from where you hit them and that makes it seem like hitboxes are incredibly broken.
What do you guys think? Should the game still be reverted back to those crappy animations that we had for over 3 years? Or should we try and improve the current ones we have? Let me know what you think.

I feel like I'm chasing headless chickens.

I do not like the new animations. They look stiff and unnatural. The way thier legs move and the face thier back never bends or moves just makes it look very off kilter. It looks a little better from survivor perspective; but I think that shows thats all they took into account when designing these new animations. They should revert to the old fluid animations, they looked great and I see of no reason they changed them.

I'd prefer that they improve the current ones, I actually think they look more realistic than they did previously, including the injured run.
(Going off on a tangent here because I really hate when people say the new injured running animation looks goofy) In real life, if you had a wound on the side of your abdomen so bad that you had to keep a hold of it to stop it from bleeding, you would not be able to take large steps while trying to move, that would put strain on your abdominal muscles and cause agonising pain. Taking small, quick steps however, would not put as much strain on the abdominal muscles and would cause much less pain, and would therefore be a more achievable way of moving in such a situation. You might think that the animation looks goofy, but in the situation that survivors are in, it is much more realistic.

Thank you for saying this. The new animations are better and make more sense

100%
The old animations were clunky as all get out and didn't make much sense. Your survivor was perpetually hunched over for no reason. People are just adverse to change especially since the old animations have been used for so long. Same thing with the UI changes.
People are just adverse to change.
The hitbox detection is my only real gripe this patch

The problem isn't the new animations, it's that they promised that they wouldn't change the core movement of survivor and then significantly changed it. I could care less if the animation looked like a potato flopping around, as long as gameplay didn't feel clunky.
People who don't have a lot of hours on survivor likely won't feel the difference, but for many veterans who have invested a lot of time into mastering movement, the new system is just significantly worse with only debatable graphical benefits.

The new animations look more realistic for movement, and hopefully theres a reason for the change besides cosmetics......like a new game mode? I dunno. I'm personally not that bothered by the animations since survivors no longer look like they're ice skating.....which is a good thing.

Idk why so many people care about realism. I play this game because it's fun not because it's realistic or has stellar graphics. I'd much rather have less clunky movement if it means looking a bit more silly.
And why are we bothering with this anyway? Surely balance and gameplay should take priority over animations. As 1000 people have already said, don't fix what isn't broken.

Whether it is realistic or not (and I don't think it is), this game isn't about realism in any way, shape, or form. It is a contest between abducted humans, some of them empowered to kill by the entity, others given the task of escaping them. It is another realm lorded over by an eldritch abomination who's motives are incomprehensible by mortals. So 'realistic' is not something should be measured by to determine its aesthetic appreciation. It should be what looks ######### good. And these look like trash.

I don't recall where we were told to argue amongst ourselves who was right or wrong. You're entitled to your opinion, I'm entitled to mine, get over it.

Old survivor movement was easy to get used to and satisfying to look at. The new ones look like they're going out for a 6 AM jog.

Once the hitboxes are fixed I'll start playing again. I can play with the HUD stuff, as much as I hate it, as long as they update it a bit in the future. It shouldn't be spread out so much, but I love how smooth skillchecks are.
