Doctor is great for this game
Let me explain what I mean. Besides learning how to do generators, survivors need to learn these following things in order to progress in the game.
*Loop a killer without vaulting or stunning them
*Unhook safely without losing either you or the hooked survivor
*Not hide in a bush the entire game
*Perform difficult skill checks
Doctor teaches survivors all of these things. You can't vault since that is an animation which can be interrupted by a shock nor can you camp a pallet since Doctor can just shock you before hitting you (This teaches survivors how to deal with PH and Clown). He can also zap you if he's still around to interrupt an unhooking process and prolong it for a bit (Just a reminder that he can't spam it anymore but it can still prolong it for a bit. This teaches survivors when to unhook when dealing with long-ranged killers).
The third point is self-explanatory and can be improved with Restraint add-ons. The last one is to me the best one since it teaches survivors an element of the game which is present in all things. Also because Doctor is the only one who can run impossible skill check build really well. Besides Discipline add-ons, there's not a lot of things which are problematic for Doctor.
Also I propose a fix for skill-check affecting perks so that they don't affect DS but still affects powers for killers. Simply add this sentence at the end of the perk :
This perk affects any skill checks created by the killer's power.
That way I can play impossible skill check Pig and impossible skill check PH.

Solid points and I agree. When played well he requires survivors to have honed basic skills and think about routing rather than blindly running from loop to loop.

I definitely think that especially after his rework, Doctor serves a good purpose for the game and I agree with this thread. He's a wall for new Survivors, but he rewards Survivors who figure out how to counter and deal with him WHILE still managing to have enough depth on the Killer's end to remain viable.

He's also just good to start learning killer which helps new players too
