I wonder, With The unbroken emblem currently broken do ranks actually show skill?
Just a thought, since you still have to get the other three emblems up and also escape, does it actually show skill for once? at least for survivor.
(I'm not saying it shouldn't be fixed, it should be fixed, just wondering.)

I think ranks did show skill before.

Funny joke

It is not a joke. I actually see huge difference in skill between green ranks and red ranks.

I dont think were playing the same game, playing on an alt, got up to green ranks with it and ltierally there was no difference in gameplay from that alt account and my main, (rank 1 on my main btw) rank literally means nothing

I think main problem is rank reset. If ranks wouldn't reset, players would be calibrated by ranks more accurate. Now we obviously see some gamers that don't belong to their ranks. But rank does mean skill, because you depip if you perform worse, and you rank up if you perform better.

But the criteria for ranking or deranking means most of the time ppl will black pip or pip up. It's not hard to steadily climb up in rank with enough time unless you're truly bad at the game.

I’m in purple ranks now, used to be red before the bug. I don’t mind depips because I don’t mind not ranking up, but playing among purple ranks again is very different from playing in red ranks. Not saying all red ranks are great, but in purple ranks I’ve seen 2 people go down from not mending in 2 days. There’s a great difference in skill. For context I play on the Switch with cross play off.
I don’t know if ranks more accurately show skill now, but survivors have been booking it once exit gates are open now. A lot of people don’t even bother saving. Not sure that is representative of skill.

No, with the current desync issues going on, it's incredibly difficult to show your looping skills right now. Plus it's easier to survive as an SWF and therefore easier to get that unbroken emblem, this doesn't really mean you are more skilled just that you play with a solid team.

Of course they do. Even if some survivors are deranking the quality of play between Green and Red ranks is still worlds apart.
Rank still means something even if the system is broken.

They never showed skill, after playing for a couple of years, I was always within the purple/red rank bracket, and you wouldn't be surprised how my teammates either were a three man SWF or all solo queue lost survivors who had no clue what they were doing, ranks dont show skill, its either a lot of luck for them or just being carried there by someone else.

With how ridiculous hit boxes are right now no.

I actually agree with you on this, I've never been the best DBD player, if anything it's the exact opposite. I'm struggling in purple ranks at the moment since the update. And I honestly belong here,, the amount of free wins I was giving to killers in red ranks due to my lack of skill was about 8/10.
However I look forward to trying to climb back up to red ranks and hopefully rank 1. I think they should keep the system as it is. It would make getting rank 1 slightly more meaningful as you need to constantly escape good killers. But fix the hitboxes please
Edit: Didn't clarify that I'm a dolo only player, I won't play SWF untill it's balanced should that day come

Well sometimes you get gold even after dying in a match, so no, it just ######### up the ranking 😂

Not really IMO. Yesterday I had a game with 3 Iridescent and no Unbroken, because of the Bug. This was barely enough for a Pip (12 points), but if I only had a Gold in one of those Emblems, I would have blackpipped. And without Unbroken, you have to have 3 Iridescent to pip up, this does not have anything to do with skill, this is also a big portion of Luck involved.
Also, this happened before Rank Reset (posted in another Thread as well):
I got Unbroken, because I escaped, but the game sitll said "Nah, you did not pip", despite being enough points to pip. Should have played better I guess.

Ranks never really showed skill. If they did, matchmaking wouldn't be such a huge issue and the hidden MMR drama wouldn't even be happening.

It would actually do the opposite, and thats the problem with the current rank reset. Bad players who happen to go up to the high ranks stay at high ranks, it would be much better if it was like the old rank reset, where rank 1's got reset back to rank 15, at least then the actual good players would get to rank 1 first and it would stay like that for a while, because the only time I notice a difference in player skill, is at the beginning of rank reset, and those who are able to get to rank 1 quickly, and at the end of rank reset where the majority of players are just pure dog
