Coming soon: Emojis?

Now that we are getting chat filters emojis are the next logical step.
Emojis being sold in the store.
Emoji codes for streamers.
Emojis as event rewards.
Emojis in the battlepass.

If you mean emotes then idk. Make them only cost bloodpoints or shards. We don't need them to become Fortnite where emotes are everything. Basic stuff would be nice like something that could be useful for stealth or trying to get the killer to chase you. Imagine that you would run out in the open with your arms flailing around.

How are these two things even related. Most online games have chat filters and don't have anything like emojis.
If you're upset that they decided to implement chat filters, then you're part of the reason why it was implemented in the first place lmao. The only valid criticism against this is that the game is currently buggy as heck and they should probably fix that before adding new stuff. But nothing is wrong with chat filters per se. In fact it's something that the game should have had since long ago.

If getting a chat filter means I don't have to report anymore racist, sexist and homophobic comments from the post game chat because they are going to be automatically detected it's a more than welcomed feature, idk what you are complaining about 🤷🏻♂️

As long as they don't forget the ez emoji

Clearly this is what the devs should be spending their limited time on, and surely they won't be breaking anything

The chat filters are almost certainly rule-based and will not be used for automated bans as they will have a huge amount of false positives. Automated chat-based suspensions could be done without any chat filters.

Fix gamebreaking bugs? Lag-Switches? Valnurability against hackers that can do anything they want in-game?
Naaaaaah! We better fix this disgustingly unfair, gamebreaking outfit exploit ASAP. And we also working on a very important feature: Chat Filters, since chat is a most important part of this game.
I was defending the devs, but now im pretty sure that they are just lazy, doing minimal work just to justify their salary.

That chat filter will essentially block out the bad words - you can still report things that you believe are threats etc with the in-game report feature (no need for tickets for this), as the team will still see the unfiltered chat logs.

Can we turn off the filters for our own feed? IE only what I see.
I don't want things to be filtered on my own screen which is why I ask.

Well I didn't mean to say "automated bans", of course there are going to be false positives, but starting from this they can at least gather a pool of chat logs to check and eventually ban racist and ######### people 😊

you won't be able to turn them off no

Is there a reason the team didn't want to allow this?
It feels like having the child lock on the tv and being unable to turn it off. I get the option to protect sensitive people, but its detracting from genuine conversation for everyone else.

Yaknow what I'm very, VERY surprised BVH didn't implement in the game yet?
Actual emotes.
The two we are right now are fine and all, but there's still a couple that are sorely missing to this day.
The first being a simple "Thubms up" (thanks), I dont know about you, but quickly tbaging to show your appreciation to a teamate after a heal always felt kinda stpid, but it's the only "emote" available to conveil the feeling.
And the second could be "OK" hand sign (the first one saying it's a racist sign get a kick in the nuts) to just be able to respond to the other emotes. it's a very handy sign that is higly contextual, going from Ok to Understood or No Problem.
Point the hook -> Understood
Get healed -> Thanks -> No Problem
And for our lovely survivor main, thos two will also make for way better BM moves than a Tbag or pointing at the killer.

am not sure of the full reasoning behind that one I'm afraid @Blueberry not even sure if it would be an option with the interface that's being used.

And what should they work on? Fixing bugs, of course, but I doubt this feature is going to be released tomorrow or next week
Plus, I think in a past interview Cote mentioned they were going to hire an external company to work on some chat features? This might be the work of an external company, not BHVR

I assume that writing ****head with asterisks (four * and then 'head') is not a violation of the rules.
Writing a word that gets censored and replaced with ****head in the chat produces the exact same message though, and would be a rule violation as I understand it. Why would the second case still be punishable if other players see the same non-rulebreaking message in both cases in the end? (Replace the example insult with any insult(s) that would result in a ban)
I can understand that not all hateful messages will be caught by the filter, and reporting those still makes sense to me. I just don't see a reason why reporting a censored message would ever result in a ban once chat filters are live.
Can you clarify this please?

If you're insulting someone in a particular way, regardless of whether or not that person can see the words - then it can result in a ban. If someone wants to use racially offensive terms or homophobic language, death threats etc? Why shouldn't they receive some sort of ban, be it temporary or permanent?

So instead of giving people an option to simply disable chat, like many have asked...they are coming up with filters. Also this will work on pc only. They sure seem to have a lot of free time on their hands. Too bad they don't put any of it to good use

Thanks, I think I understand now - if from context it's clear that it's hate speech / an insult it still makes sense to report.
This exists, you can close the chat box and it will stay closed unless you open it again (on PC at least).

I understand, thank for responding nonetheless. Hopefully we might have the option in the future.

exactly.
You're still going to be able to swear, it's just going to be context basically.
