What does the data say?
I see a lot of threads about how one side or the other is over powered and, I've been curious for a long time.
What does the data say? How many games end with a Killer 4k as opposed to all survivors escaping?
I highly doubt the dev's would honestly answer this question and, I think we would all be surprised by the actual answer here.

I can only speak from my matchs in EU solo queue and unless a survivor suicides or disconnects, its a easy 3 or 4 man escape. Gens fly so fast that when a killer gets his third hook, the survivors already completed the 4th gen.
The devs said once on a stream, that they haven´t seen an increase in suicides. So i hope they filter the matches with suicides from the stats.

I believe in red ranks the average kills per game is about 68% (These were released before the release of Twins).
Take this number with a grain of salt however, as these stats state Nurse is the weakest while Pig is one of the strongest. I wouldn't look at these stats as a sign of balance at all.

Does it really matter? People will just make excuse why certain statistic is that way and invalidate it because it doesn't fit their agenda.
It is pointless. But yeah there is some data already you can find online.

Those stats were also before the Mori nerf. So i doubt they are as high now, as back then.

In my experience playing US CST. I would say 1 or 2 survivors escaping is the norm and, that makes sense, it's closer to a tie.
In games where all survivors escape or Killer 4k's. It's often a one sided match where, one side is clearly out playing the other.

I'm still surprised it's so low... 56% kill rate for all ranks, which is even more surprising. That includes the red rank stats. Although, I kinda would like to see how many killers are actually in red rank. I assume not too many based on Steam achievements being the upperbound.
It defies a lot of community assumptions. The general logic is that noob killers have an easier time compared to noob survivors and if survivor skill is equal to killer skill the killer should win.

Well, even at 56% this implies a slight skew towards Killer. The before mentioned 68% at red ranks pretty vastly favors Killer so...
I would like to see the kill rate after this update, lol!

I wouldn't reccomend looking at Steam achievements for overall red ranks, as many people would've played on a free weekend, played a few matches and didn't like the game or are survivor mains.
An example of how achievements can mean nothing, a game I play called Celeste (I play it on Xbox) has 41% of players complete the first level which only takes about 10 minutes.

You also need to bare in mind, that the red rank kill rate refers to red rank killers. But it doesn´t mean, that those killers played against red rank survivors. With the rainbow matchmaking we have, it wouldn´t surprise me, when those overperforming killers were matched against yellow or green ranks.

It's still good for an upper bound. The actual percentage doesn't really matter as much.

The data suggests killers are grossly overpowered.

But that's the thing if it's at 56% with all ranks, including all the ppl doing challenges (one survivor can skew things heavily compared to one killer getting one to 2 kills even with challenges), farming, general solo queue and nooby survivors. Plus, it includes the 68% from red ranks it kinda paints a different picture once you think about things.
Just imagine if the devs brought down the red ranks to 50% and let's say that they managed to do it without bringing general kill rates down in other ranks by more than 2% (probably not going to happen), than wouldn't the kill rates be hovering around 40%?
Of course this assumes that bad killers don't quit.

The data is useless because there are too many variables that can alter it, suicides count as a death and I believe dc does also, not to mention the people who have smurf accounts and when they do have bad games they just have a couple buddies switch accounts to throw matchmaking all over the place and have a squad of red ranks facing noobs from rank 20-12

Exactly!
It would be nice to have access to live stats and to be able to filter things like DCs, suicides, moris, keys, afk, etc.

My guess is they know the gens will be exposed as the problem and they don't have a sure fire way of addressing that even though its nearly five years into this game, they need to start using PTB more often to test ideas out on a larger scale, like have a constant going PTB that is always testing out ideas BHVR has for the game and collecting data, I think pub g has something similar with test servers

Moris increased kill rate, keys increased escape rate. Survivor dc’s increased kill rate, killer dc’s increased escape rate. And so on and so forth. Why do you lot always think these stats are skewed to show killers are doing better than they actually are? It works both ways

I started making screenshots of my matches, whenever the 4th gen was completed. It´s a grim collection of killers getting 0 to 4 hooks in that time. (0 was a Trapper who got some more hooks after all gens were completed. But its just sad.)

The average killer is a lot stronger than the average survivor. At high levels, survivors become nearly invulnerable, and even the strongest killers can only hope for a 2k.
You don't really need stats to understand this. You need to just make changes that will make it easier for average skill survivors to survive, and to make it harder for higher skill level survivors to survive. Ranks actually don't mean anything, if you understand the game and how it is played, after a few hundred matches of your own, you should be able to get a feel for what the changes have done. It's quite easy to tell a bad player from a good player on this game, from both killer and survivor perspective.
It's a nuanced approach that the devs just mostly ignore because they think they know what's best for the game and ignore anything said otherwise.

The data we do have is basically irrelevant as there are a multitude of flaws with it that aren't taken into account which is why the devs state regularly that the data shouldn't be used to draw any conclusions.
You're better off just assuming we have no data essentially.

Honestly can say most of my solo matches are 3ks to 4ks. Mostly because there is a weak link and the killer will abuse that
