Chest high walls have always been able to be attacked over its just there are very few ones thin enough for the killer's attack to actually reach to the other side.

There are actually a whole lot of objects in the game that killers can swing through, but most of these just never come into play

Doesn't help that objects also have this like extended box beyond their physical actual shape so most people don't even try because you often just hit air and go "thunk"
