No, Iridescent hatchet is not toxic you are.

Often when I use Iri Hatchet I'll get messages from survivors, a few of them disconnect, and their message is the same. They call me toxic or trash and seem to be outraged. Who is being toxic here? A killer, by nature, is automatically perceived as toxic because, yes it is my mission to slice you and hook you until you die. So survivors see themselves as saints sometimes and the hypocrisy just gets to me. I'm just playing the game and using add ons offered in the game. I'm still at a mid level with huntress, so if I go in with no good perks or add ons, gens pop instantly and if they are high level survivors, by 4th gen I'll probably have 1 hook if that. So, if I get a 4k with my perks and add ons and 4 or all gens have been completed, then it was a good run on both sides. What is toxic is directly contacting your opponent to spew your insults and then claim it is they who are toxic. This game is a great insight into humans and monsters, so we should look at ourselves in the mirror and ask, am I the monster?....

I have fun most of the time when I'm a killer but get weird messages sometimes from survivors because the "sensed" I was mad and I should "git good". If i was not tunneling or camping, just don't. Any other killers out there having good times then suddenly a survivor thunder cloud enters your dms?

It's busted but toxic is tunneling and camping, but Iri Head is getting changed.

Well I do agree that they were toxic, it should be known that depending on how long you’ve been in this community, it should be very obvious that at least one survivor would send a hate message for iri head. Most if not all, survivors dislike and find it unfun to play against it. Thus, even if you’re not obligated to cater to the fun of survivors, it shouldn’t stated that you would be berated for your choice. So really the only thing you can do is ignore the messages and/or (depending on the severity of the messages) report them. Unless you can somehow make gameplay with iri head fun for survivors or seem “less toxic” as they say. I wish you the best of luck in this and hopes you can understand.

It's not bait. It's arguing the definition of toxicity. Which apparently either means not fun or doing something people don't like. Pretty much Dbd in a nutshell.

I don't find it toxic btw.

Toxic? No. Easy 4k without any effort? Yes. You have to be absolutely terrible as killer to not get a 4k (or 3k + hatch) with iri hatchets.

You can play how ever you want it's never toxic. Toxic is messages people write and these people should not be allowed to play games at all since they can't handle it.

  • No chance of winning is not true. You can beat them easy, admittedly if the Huntress is a bad aim.

That said I played her with iri heads once and I wasn't missing too many shots, but there was like an unbreakable, a kobe and a deliverance which reset the game 3 separate times. It was crazy and I would have lost to survivor perks no doubt without Iri head. The whole game is just becoming a battle of crutches

Personally I like going against IRI, I think huntress is one of the most fun killers to vs due to her turning traditional looping on its head. Very similar with nurse. They actually require a separate skill set to play against that no other killers do. I will always enjoy playing against skilled killers, I don’t want the game to be perfectly fair, I want it hard, and difficult to win.

Iri heads are not toxic - as they are a legit part of the game as it stands - but they are not fun for any survivor.

What is toxic is giving people grief post-game because of the ingame tools you used.

That can happen but very rarely will a Kobe happen. As for unbreakable I’d imagine you were slugging with iri head which is very common I guess it’s deserved

Correction: voice-coms on its own is far, far, far worse than any one-shot hatchet.

The same way that voice-com isn't going to do much help for people who can't play for ######### anyhow, a one shot hatchet isn't going to be much help for people who can't hit ######### with it anyhow.

The key difference is that players still use the in-game mechanics to dodge that hatchet same as the others, or hide, or rush. Their ability to hit you as to be better than your ability to deflect. These are extensions of the game that exists.

Meanwhile, you can't combat an external program operating beyond the games control or mitigate the massive distortion of the game's inherent operating conditions & assumptions by providing players unreasonable/unbalanced amounts of communication and coordination in a game that's designed assuming those two players couldn't even type a message like "jane coming for the save, stay on the gen" or "trap right there" where getting such things wrong can snowball in consequences.

My point isn't about irri being cool or fun---it's just a reminder that voice communication is straight bullshit and will always be de facto cheating in this game no matter how much better it lines the devs pockets to pretend otherwise.

  • It's unfair and overpowered.

It's not toxic, but most toxic people tend to bring things like that and tunnel and whatnot.

So correlation does not equal causation however there are connections none the less.

So many other killers can insta down you. Bubba.. ghost face.. clown.. myers.. and bear in mind that iri heads are very rare add ons.

Majority of huntresses unless they are pro, will miss many shots. Just adapt your play style like you would around ghost face and bubba. Be more sneaky. Sick of hearing survivor mains wanting an easy game. If thats the case go and play Mario Kart or something.

Those other killers can't do much against pallets and vaults whereas huntress can hit you through them.

Her iri heads being ranged does make a difference.

  • Amy095
    Amy095 Member Posts: 96

As I said.. only very experience huntress mains will consistently get you with iri heads. In my experience of over 700 hours game time, I have perhaps come up against 1 or 2 iri head huntresses. Its not that common.

The same argument can be made against nurse. An experienced player with her is doomed and windows, pallets etc don't help. Shall we nerf nurse even more to? People forget that the average player on this game won't be able to hit with hatchets all the time. Here we are talking about the top 1% of players, which is a pointless argument.

Also, juking and crouching at pallets is a thing... can help against huntress.

  • CriticalWeasel
    CriticalWeasel Member Posts: 378

It's basically a ranged Tier 3 Micheal Stab, the only issue is there are lots of ways for huntress to trap you and guarantee a hit especially with short loop pallets. Also considering the actual damage hitbox of the hatchet is basically a big basketball you can be downed in rather bullshit ways.

The major difference between a Nurse and a Huntress is you still get a second chance when struck by a nurse but with the Iridescent Hatchets, you basically cut the chase in half cause you only need to land one throw. Which forces survivors to play as a mega scumbag when dealing with it. Crouching at pallets doesn't work if she aims it slightly low, the corners of the pallet won't save you because the hatchet's damage hitbox is bigger than the collision hitbox.

Lol, even with how big the hitboxes are, if someone gave me iri head, I'd probably still only get a 1k, lol

  • DeadByName
    DeadByName Member Posts: 9

Is it aiming though when you're not aiming at the survivor? I can't simply aim and release, I'd never hit. I have to predict where they will be or which direction they're going to dodge. A method I often use is aim away from them then quickly turn to them as hatchet releases to get the hit. It's no easy task on a controller. I was watching a twitch steamer after I played against them and he kept saying I was missing. I wasn't missing, he was dodging them very well, it's a huge difference.

Mmm when it works but you have to loose about 4 gens to get it so you know.

I just suicide on hook when i see theres iri. No interest to waste time on a game already lost especially if 2 people DCd the 1st minute

You are thinking of Judith's Tombstone + Tuft of Fur. Tombstone Piece is a purple addon.

Tombstone piece while does make you take longer to stalk to EW3 the first time, allows you to instant mori the survivor at the cost of immediately leaving EW3 without any movement speed penalties like Judith's Tombstone.

Basically you can just immediately remove a single survivor from the match making the game a 3v1 and continue normally as there is no movement speed penalty that Myers has to deal with.

I understand what you mean, but it's not my situation at all. These survivors do a pretty great job at dodging my hatchets. Using iri heads forces me to make sure I am utilizing them well, so I'm not the killer that just finds you and downs you. It's a good back and forth. When I don't get that clean shot then they just run around in one case a truck and I can never catch them so I have to move on. So I'm a killer that isn't great with the hatchets and gets looped rather easily. I think some players just see iri head and auto response with "Toxic Kilker!" Because in my case, it's never a quick 4k game. Never, unless they really F up ofcourse which is very rare. And even then I'll give them chances. And in cases where I accidently down a just unhooked survivor, I let them be healed back up. Yes, I'm using iri as a crutch, but crutches are necessary when your leg is broken.

oh Right! Sorry its late here in the uk lol. Yeah its pretty nutty. Iri head removes everyone tho makes them come down with DCsyndrome

  • DeadByName
    DeadByName Member Posts: 9

Nope. And I don't use iri just to get 4ks,it's been a good game if I get a ton of hooks. And honestly, there have been games with no kills and very few hooks when I use Iri. If I'm playing and my mind isn't in it 100%,then I can't land hatchets with a controller.

  • DeadByName
    DeadByName Member Posts: 9

It's not a homing missile. Suicide on first hook is agitating as a survivor, as a killer well then I feel bad for the others because their teammate decided to give up. I've been in 2 games where 2 people DC, and in both times me and the other 2 survivors go back and forth on gens hits and heals. We all get points and they get to live to see another day. You should think about your team, otherwise why play survivor?

  • Amy095
    Amy095 Member Posts: 96

I didn't say huntress is hard.. I said.. the average player does not hit consistently.. ie. 100% of the time. Iri heads are only OP and annoying in the higher ranks.

I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain my original point to you.

  • GodLikeTerror
    GodLikeTerror Member Posts: 1,054

Pinky finger is busted if you have good aim also. Whenever I run it for fun everyone just dc's or quits on hook, because they don't stand a chance.

Some of these people play on controller. Op included. So it could be harder compared to pc. I don't play huntress but as a survivor I noticed pc huntresses aiming much better and doing all kinds of tricks.

Edit: I don't mean red rank. It is easy on console too. I just meant aiming as huntress.

It's toxic. You know it. I know it. Everyone knows it. It doesn't take skill to use it (melee hatchets are a thing). I can understand MAYBE a brand new rank 20 killer who barely knows how to throw a hatchet to equipment it, but if you have more than 10 hours in the game there's really no good reason to equip it. It's just not fair, especially as a pc huntress.

  • GodLikeTerror
    GodLikeTerror Member Posts: 1,054

Most average players are in red ranks. It really isn't hard to get into red ranks on both sides. I got rank 1 killer in 80 hours and rank 1 survivor around 300. It doesn't take much skill to get into red ranks.

It's not toxic, you're right, but it's definitely unbalanced. You can play how you want though, nothing's stopping you (until the Huntress addon rework comes out).

Okay, apparently your a prestige legacy 2 nurse.

But your account is only 6 days old.

So you're telling me? You haven't made a dbd forum account for nearly 3 years? Forums where more devoted players are. People have been providing feedback for all of this time.

You were just dead silent over all those years? Until now?

If you say so. But I still find pc huntresses more tricky for some reason. Just my experience as a survivor. Maybe there are less good huntresses on console for some reason. Nurse is another example but that is very different. Before crossplay I never played against good nurses on ps4.
