Ways to reduce toxicity on both sides?

Are there any ways to reduce the toxicity on both sides?

The main problems on killer´s side are tunneling and camping. It might be a playstyle but it is kind of griefing, since the tunneled / camped survivor can´t do anything against it. "Do gens instead", yes that works for the three other survivors but the camped / tunneled survivor can´t do anything against it.

  • I know it won´t happen but just give the killers minus pips and points for tunneling and camping

The main problems on survivor side are ragequitting, farming and killing theirselves on hook. This is even more toxic since there is no reason to ragequit or to kill theirselves on hook since it affects all other survivors. Just take the down and try to escape after you get unhooked. Giving harder penalties and minus points for killing theirselves on hook would be nice, because a 3vs1 is basically impossible to win. There must be a way to distinguish between a Ragequit and a network issue.

It would be easy to give out the minuspoints for farming and and selfkills on hook. The only problem are the ragequits and a 5 minutes penalty isnot enough.

None of those are inherently toxic but shouldn’t be encouraged like they are now.

Lol you just listed how "both sides" could be fixed for survivor experience 😂.

I figured you meant the toxic gameplay against killers as well... Survivor main?

You can't reduce toxicity, it will always occur and there's nothing you can do about it.

Reduce camping and tunneling. End of the problem

Tunneling and camping has become a strategy that develops and becomes something negative.

Unfortunately it's not in our control because it's not like a chat that can be completely deleted from the game.

Same for t-bagging and flashlights and trolls.

Maybe points limitation while camping can work (?)

    But what about mean survivors?

We have to change something fundamentally if we want to stop something problematic, i guess.

Add a kissing booth to every map. Survivor and killer alike can join in on the fun

I think it is just how the game is made I have some friends who play identity V which behaviour helped make and they never complain much about tunnelling and camping. They do say it is annoying but they accept that the best way that the killer can win is by tunnelling everyone this is just a fact. I think for survivors it honestly is just getting people to learn how to deal with the camping and the tunnelling.

Killers have it way worse honestly I play both roles almost 50/50 and as killer I see so much more toxicity against me. Tea bagging flashlight clicking and all that jazz and honestly their is no way to remove that from the game other then just teaching people that maybe they shouldn't do it.

Killing yourself on hook and dcing usually happens because something un fair or broken happened or the survivor/killer sees they have no chance to win the game and instead just dc. If I as a killer see an entire lobby of keys where its all Claudettes with the same name tag and obviously in an swf and they send me to haddonfield I might as well just watch a cutscene of me losing the game because there is nothing I can do I can't even switch to some broken killer like spirit because of the lobby restriction. Yes I could just hop lobby but ultimatly that means someone else has to play with that swf.

The game would need a revamp on many of its mechanics and honestly the community needs a health patch because a majority of them are extremely toxic just naturally. I don't know how Identity V with the help of behaviour managed to solve this issue but dead by daylight has not for the most part.

Comms between killer/survivors in lobby and when in close proximity in game would probably alleviate a lot of toxicity.

Sorry, yes of course i see teabagging and flashlight clicking as toxic too, and yes i am a survivor main.

Fact is, that it doesen´t affect a killer in this way like the above named problems (but it should be punished as well imo).

If they give minus bloodpoints for selfkills on hook and also increase the time penalty for ragequitting (imo people who often have network issues should be punished as well and fix their problems, since they are ruining the game too).

Maybe the game should be able to see, if the ragequit comes right after a down or hook and increase the punishment? This should be possible...

I honestly have no problem with flashlight clicking; I only get mad at flashlights because they work at bullshit angles that make no sense and sometimes even through certain walls. If they fixed that, I could care less about someone's clicky click.

T-bagging, hitting on hook, shaking your head at survivors is just BM but it's not a big deal it's plenty easy to ignore I mean it happens in like every online game ever you can't really stop it they would just find another way and that would become synonymous with the insult instead.

The easiest way to solve toxicity in DBD is to solve the things that cause the most frustration themselves. Often you have baby killers put up against experienced SWFs in a match they cannot hope to win....well.....stop pairing them up for starters. Add an information system like Scott Jund suggested to solo queue so they can communicate almost as much as a SWF can. Things like that.

Guys, i want to say that the thing what annoys me the most is the toxicity on survivor side (ragequitting, suicide on hook etc.) because it affects me far more than the things on the killer side.

Also a ragequitter don´t get a big punish. If he don´t do it too often, he just has to wait 5 minutes. The remaining survs have to fight against a killer in a 3 vs 1. BHVR shouldn´t let their game get murdered by those selfies a**holes because it is very unfun to play such games.

Also a killer, who face camps per example will benefit from a ragequitter (with add. points AND one survivor less who will do something). I don´t know but i don´t think that the teammates benefit from it via additional bloodpoints (never saw that before).

Give survivors +10,000 BP per Thumbs Up they receive (Not eligible for players you're in an SWF with)

Give Killers +15,000 BP per thumbs up they receive

Best thing is to get rid of chat and other ways for people to message other players. The things in the game people complains about like perks, clicking, tbag, camping/tunneling is not a real problem it does not hurt you it's just a game. People today are so fragile it's not the games fault that some people are this way.

Easiest way to reduce toxicity in this game. Stop labeling everything toxic. You've gotten rid of 50% of the toxicity right there. Plus, as an added bonus you lose another 20% toxicity in the arguments about what they call toxic and the ego/entitlement/righteousness they get from it. Another 10% is gone just from the improvement of community atmosphere. The 20% you're left with is "normal" internet toxicity and salt.

Make people play the other side and not just their main role.
