Seriously how does anyone play Nurse?

Member Posts: 5,910

Her blinks make no sense. You hold a blink for the same amount of time but never seem to travel the same distance. That's not even going into all the times an object stops you for no reason. I don't honestly expect an answer, but damn is it frustrating.

Persistence and willpower, but a love of suffering probably helps too.

If you think that's bad just wait until you experience the 'Can't-attack-immediately-after-Blinking bug'. That one's my favorite.

Edit: If you're looking for like actual tips on Nurse gameplay OhTofu has a solid guide. But it can still a fairly exhausting experience even when you're good at her/know what to do: it's just something you'll have to gey used to if you want to play her.

Having a bucket load of bloodpoints helps a lot haha. Using addons can help a lot.

Spent weeks trying to learn her long ago on Xbox, before the recharge changes to her blinks. Frame drops took away most hits, the blink aim was usually way off, she would blinkbounce off of lots of things (I recall tire stacks being the biggest culprit), and could not swing the camera or her around fast enough to track let alone line up another blink. The fps and controls made it a nightmare to play her.

Nowadays I hear several colonies of bugs infest her as well.

Shout out to those who mastered her on console mad props.

You work hard to get good with nurse, suffer through loss after loss after hard loss. Everyone calling you baby nurse ggez tbags all around.....

.....Only to get good and be told you're scrub at the game because you play "ez mode OP nurse"

Avoid indoor maps like the 'Rona (was gona say plague but shes not that dangerous :p) and use Plaid Flannel to get used to her blinks. I just got myself off of it after using it for my first ~200 Nurse games and while I can still land some blinks, its rough going. As soon as I get all her achievements I'm not touching her again XD

Persistence and suffering. Here's the thing: I'd do it again. She's the one killer you can put me on any map and I will never lose a normal lobby if I run a good build and actually try. The odds of 4 survivors knowing how to run a good Nurse are incredibly low.

No one actually plays Nurse. She is like the Bogeyman. Told to young survivors to keep them from becoming too toxic.

Teabag too much and the Nurse will get you.

Yes, this. The thing is though is that sometimes your blink will just get completely eaten and you won't travel any distance at all even if there is clearly room ahead of you for your model to reappear and you fully charged your blink.

    It’s a very humbling experience isn’t it?

And it always makes my respect much deeper for those that dominate with her, and make her seem like “easy mode”.

Because Nurse is the power role killer once you've got good with her. I don't find her particularly fun to watch or even play as, but if I could just master her, I'd be able to switch over to the power role at any point.

My advice, if you're having trouble:

Plaid Flannel to understand how the blink "travels", and then never use add-ons that change the blink's charging speed. Travel speed is fine, as well as the ones that increase the second blink's window. Also, mind your aim. The Nurse was reworked a while back so the spot where you aim is instrumental in determining the distance. You can figure all this out with Plaid Flannel, though.

For me, it was just a matter of playing her, a lot. However, that was back when she came out. I haven't touched her in quite a while. The Plaid Flannel should help you figure her out.

It's not her I find challenging. She's kinda fun really. It's when autoaim screws me or my blink on goes half the distance it should that's making want to pull my hair out.

I tried Plaid Flannel but honestly it seemed to make it worse.

    Tried it how?

I ran it but I missed way more with it. Granted those were my earlier games, so it might be beneficial now.

I enjoy the pain..... Learning her is already painful now imagine doing it on a Ps4.... As and old pc gamer sr who can't aim for ######### with the 2 sticks..... Who has an eye sight disability. Oh lord the pain is real..... Help me

You shouldn't use it as a sort of "landing zone indicator". Observe how it moves, understand the blinks. That's the way to play Nurse, you have to understand her.

    muscle memory and practice

Pretty easily. Like other killers such as Blight, Huntress, Deathslinger etc, Nurse's mechanics are simple: You go through walls, and the way you get better with her is being more precise with her ability. All it takes is developing muscle memory and it's smooth sailing when you get the hang of it.

Landing blinks is tremendously satisfying that's why I play her.

A year of practice, masochistic tenancies, lots of tears, moral support from friends, and this one rubbing joke of "Yo it's Karu the 2nd best Nurse in EU!"

Honestly, it's different for PC. If you see a console Nurse, they are a god-tier gamer and deserve everyone's respect. If you see a PC nurse, they grinded for 20 trials and can now shut their brain off in most of them because of a mix of more responsive controls and (for most people) better frame rate.
