Is there actually going to be a reason to play The Trickster?

Does anyone think there will be an actual reason to play as him when the huntress or even deathslinger exist? I understand that there are a few niche situations where his power could theoretically be better than huntress or slinger but those seem so few and far between and not really worth playing him over any other ranged killer.

Reasons for playing anything are subjective but the largest one comes down to if you enjoy their power and play style more than other killers and if they will give you the results you wish out of the game.

Why play huntress over slinger or vice versa?

Oh, idk maybe because they dont have the same power

Also Trickster is more fun and satisfying imo

I'm talking about from a power level perspective. Obviously if you really like Trapper you can play as him because you like him but from a power perspective there is no reason to play him when Hag exists.

Why does it matter the killer is worse than pre-existing charactes?

I think that isn't a fair comparison. Trapper's style is about aggressive map pressure with a power that reinforces snowballing whilst Hag is the epitome of hit and run.

Same way that Huntress and Slinger are similar yet their styles and strategy are completely different. I honestly think once people get good with him Trickster could end up landing in the A tier and becoming a highly viable killer with the right build.

Well that's why i'm asking because I just don't personally see a reason but if other people do see a reason I want to hear it and get a different perspective.

That’s not going to stop people from play trickster though. Many people just want to have fun and to a lot of people he’s more enjoyable than slinger and huntress. Also you can’t even compare any killer to trickster because each killer has their own strengths and trickster could get a hit where others may not be able to and vice versa.

Oh its another of these threads.

Let's just get rid of half of the following killers because they have similar powers and no one EVER plays the weaker of the two:

    Hillbilly vs bubba

    Huntress vs slinger

    Clown vs freddy

    Ghostface vs Mike

    Trapper vs hag

I certainly have no interest in Trickster. Of all the 110% Killers, his power is the least useful by far. Plague, Huntress, and Deathslinger all seem like better versions of Trickster in some way as well.

I like the neon aesthetic, but if you play to win he just doesn't bring anything to the table. Maybe if he had literally any form of mobility or map pressure I would reconsider.

I'm not saying these killers should be removed lol but I think they should stop designing new killers who are just objectively worse versions of older killers. Deathslinger was fine because he was similar but unique enough from huntress and is powerful enough to be used consistently.

Well it's the 24hr mark of PTB lol. He looks fun as hell and that's exactly what all the streamers said. FUN is not always easy to obtain as killer. Now of his power they can still make it more useful and I'm sure they will that's what the PTB is for. They need to slow down or remove the passive laceration heal. Or lower the shots required it's obvious by watching the streams it's more viable in alot of situations to m1 with a slower/ranged killer? What? Also his Main event either needs to be longer or needs to be able to be activated by the killer not automatically. Right now most of time it's practically useless. Just those will help tons.

Why play any killer when Nurse and Spirit exist? They’re clearly well ahead of the entire roster in terms of strength.

You see how dumb that sounds? I personally have my fair share of killer I enjoy and I’ll even play the ones I am not comfortable with because I get bored of playing the same ol’ killers. If I only stuck with playing comfy killers I’m used to like Spirit and Plague I never would’ve gotten better with killers like Deathslinger and added more variety to my play time as killer.

People will play who they want regardless of if they are good or bad. I believe Legion is the worst killer in the game but I see them more frequently than I do killers like Spirit and Freddy.

I’m gonna play Trickster because I love his look and his looks like he has a fun power to use 🤷🏽‍♂️

I mean you should play other killers than Nurse and Spirit because a lot of others are unique from them... Hag and Myers are nothing like Spirit and Nurse and are fun in their own way. The point of this post is that Trickster ISN'T unique enough from Huntress to be as bad as he potentially could be.

was planning on buying this... but if he's released as is... this will be the first killer I pass on. So hopefully he'll be significantly tweaked before release.

He's the closest we got to playing as DIO so that's good enough for me

Theoretically there's no reason to play anyone other than spirit or nurse, as they're leagues ahead of every other killer other than maybe twins and hag in terms of viability.

He looks like a projectile killer for people who don't want to devote too much time into them, the reason you rarely see good slingers or huntress' is because they require a lot of time devotion. This killer looks like a throwable legion in a sense, people would just enjoy lobbing a ton of knives at people.

Ghostface and Demo were useless on PTB too. Trickster isn't far off. Just needs more control over Main Event and probably needs ricochet base kit at a reduced multiplier

Because Trickster isn't actually all that similar to Huntress or Deathslinger other than them all having ranged attacks?

Seriously, Trickster is actually a lot more like a Michael Myers who's stalking can down you. Like... mid loop, the knives aren't great but between loops or on loops where Myers would be able to feed on you, Trickster can and will wreck you. Also Main Event is obviously Trickster's version of EW 3. Main Event needs to not prevent Trickster from breaking pallets and picking up Survivors, but it is 100% a variant of EW3.

If you want more specifics, Trickster can pull of stealth and zoning plays that Huntress simply can't because of her hum and limited ammo. Also I'm pretty sure Trickster using knives is faster than Huntress with a hatchet ready. In the right situations, Trickster even without Main Event can chew through Survivors much much faster than Deathslinger can. Deathslinger's whole Shoot, Reel, Stab, Reload, Repeat, Pick Up, Hook cycle is actually really slow which is actually why Deathslinger has kind of bad map presence. Trickster doesn't have fantastic map presence because no 110% killer with zero mobility does, but it seems better than Slingers.

It's a PTB, anything can be altered and changed. Right now I feel Trickster is definitely far too weak and should be considerably buffed. Make his ricocheting knives base kit and make it so that laceration doesn't decrease over time. Maybe even buff his movement speed too.

Why do people resort to comparing every ranged killer to Huntress? People compared Plague to Huntress and Deathslinger to Huntress and it’s always the same “Why would I play this killer over Huntress?”

Maybe because I can’t play Huntress well? Maybe I don’t like Huntresses playstyle? Maybe another ranged killer is more aesthetically pleasing to me? I just hate the comparisons to Huntress when every killer is unique.

He’s nothing like Huntress gameplay wise. He throws tiny blades and she throws orca sizes hatchets. Her hitbox is a sphere and his is a needle. He can throw over more loops and has a shorter wind-up time and throw massively faster and a lot more projectiles than she does. They have their differences.

If anything he is more similar to Plague. I see no similarities to Huntress other than the fact that they are ranged and Trickster is a LIMITED range while Huntress is unlimited range.

You can play a killer because they're fun all you want, but fun will only take you so far before you start to get bothered by the fact you're playing a weak killer and getting rolled each and every game. May as well play Huntress/Deathslinger since they're better if you're good at the game, and if you're bad at the game than this killer is also still worse for you.

    Simple answer is console exists

He's cool, he spams knifes, his bat makes "vwooon" when he swings it, he spams knifes that can ricochet and I'll probably be able to play him on console without much effort on landing a knife (again I can spam those, which I love), unlike Huntress or Deathslinger.

So... yeah... I'm looking forward to playing him.
