I always think the fire pits are a totem or someone doing a totem
There is this one spot on dead dawg where fire and the random environment effects sound almost exactly like the totem bones breaking, it's kind of annoying

This makes me think weird sound settings/setup issues or weird trolling.
Assuming using headphones check window sound settings they should be set to 2 channel stereo not the others, and under speaker properties make sure all enhancements are disabled if that option appears for you as well as making sure to turn off spatial options. If you have a 3rd party program for your audio check the settings in that making sure it is also set to 2 channel stereo and to disable enhancements especially virtual surround options, THX, and spatial options.

The only things fire pit sounds like are a hex totem and water effects on Lerrys

I play on Xbox. I don’t think I have those sound setting options, If I do, I have no idea where they are.

To me, on my head phones with Xbox, Macmillan’s are the worst maps, I’m always investigating fire barrels because the slight crick before the crackle sounds like foot steps.

They do sound like foot steps sometimes.
Also, I swear to God I hear Meg breathing like right in my ear sometimes even even there iant a Meg in the game 😨

Like the burning trash cans? I don't think I've really heard footsteps from it but I for sure sometimes hear survivor breathing in it.
Swear its there to mess with killers.

It helps survivors juke mid chase but you can’t hide around them anymore since they are les bright
