Stonecold (fan made dbd chapter)
The Gorgon
Name: Andromeda Drakos
Weapon: a short Khopis
Realm: The Acropolis
Nationality: greek
Movement speed: 115%
Height: Average
Mori: The survivor gets up groggily and looks around, the gorgon emerges in front of them, her eyes start to glow and the snakes on her head start to hiss. The survivor turns to stone in a frantic running pose. The Gorgon then shuts her eyes for a second and opens them to see the survivor, she steps forward and starts to wildly slash/punch the statue, breaking off parts. With one final hiss we see the last dust of the survivor fall to the ground.
Story:
Andromeda Drakos was the daughter of a renowned general, but war was never her passion. She had always loved learning and the study of all things foreign to her. As a child she had snuck into every lesson she could, always probing the world around her. One day that curiosity became her downfall. She was exploring the cliff and fell into the surf below. The waves churned and pulled her across the rocks, each one, mangling her body. She managed to climb to safety in the form of a cave on the edge of the cliff full of the snakes she had been searching for. She traversed this labyrinth of stone for days straight, eating the serpents around her until finding a passage out.
When she finally shambled back to her home she expected a warm welcome and a sense of relief, but all she was met with were screams. Her torn apart visage was a sight of pure terror to those around her. Her father drew his sword threatening to slay her. She had become a monster. Her face was scarred, and her body seeped blood, no one could look at her.
Andromeda ran to the caves she had one considered a prison and stayed there among the serpents. She began an existence of misery, her only light was the experiments she managed to run from the cramped passages of the cave system. As Andromeda sat in the caves alone her anger brewed, twisting her every thought. She let the anger dominate her work, creating instruments of hate. Her final project was a Khopis she smelted herself, this was the tool she was going to use to hunt. Andromeda staggered back to her village one last time, her wounds covered in stone dust and her flesh striped with fresh cuts from the cave. She opened the door to find her father sleeping in his bed and she plunged her balde into his chest; showing him the violence he led in battle. Her mother’s screams were silenced as her throat was ripped out by Andromeda’s jagged uncut fingernails. She went to each house in turn, massacring all that had refused to look upon her. She shambled up to the acropolis and fell in front of the statue to the gods blood oozing around her covering the white marble in a deep crimson colour. She was ready to give in, when an urge to hunt took over her senses, she was a beast and the cruelty of humanity deserved to be her prey.
She went from town to town leaving blood in her wake. Her name became feared, she was known as The Gorgon, the grim one. She became a myth, a monster of the shadows, preying on those that she stumbled upon. The people of Greece became angry and sought her out in her home. An army marched through the caves lighting fire to the passages around them, searing the skin off of the snakes, their hisses of pain whistled through the cavern like a sinister wind. Andromeda ran from the advancing soldiers until she came to the mouth of the cave. The same cave that she had climbed through to escape the churning current many years ago. With one final look behind her, she leapt into the ocean, ready for the embrace of death. As she was falling, she felt the sea foam solidify into a dark mist, whispers surrounded her from all sides, she felt her skin start to harden over her scars and tusks grew from her mouth. Her hair started to twist and turn on its own and her eyes resonated with an unnatural power. A voice called out from the darkness saying “You have become a myth”.
Power:
Writhing glare:
Press the activate ability button to use writhing glare, while in this state anyone within a 5 meter range for 3 seconds or who looks at you for 8 seconds is turned into a statue. When they are hit or after a 7 second struggle phase they escape. Your movement speed is slightly decreased during writhing glare. Writhing Glare has a 45 second cooldown and a 60 second duration.
Special Ability:
Serpentine Focus: While using Writhing glare you may push and hold the activate ability button to release the full power of the ancient gods onto you enemies. You may focus on a survivor and begin turning them to stone. After 7 seconds of contact they become a statue and writhing glare ends, leaving it at the same progress it had run down to. (like the oni when picking someone up, or the spirit when exiting phase). While using this ability your movement speed is greatly reduced. Serpentine Focus has a 15 second cooldown.
Passive:
If a survivor looks directly at you for 10 seconds they receive the hindered and broken status effects for 20 seconds.
If a survivor looks directly at you for 20 seconds they receive the blinded status effect for 45 seconds and become petrified for a 10 second struggle phase. Hitting them while in this state inflicts the hindered status effect until healed.
*It may look like she has too many abilities, but the passive effect of writhing glare is just a buffed version of her original passive, which goes away when using writhing glare
*All numbers would need to be tweaked to balance her out
*The movement decrease is undecided as the original version of The Gorgon was much more powerful, but had a much greater movement decrease. So when I changed her I decided to keep the movement change, just in a slightly reduced form.
Addons:
BROWN:
Tarnished Drachma: Slightly increases the duration of writhing glare
Snake skull: Slightly increases writhing glare’s radius
Vial of poison: Slightly decreases the cool down time of writhing glare
Petrified finger: Slightly increases the petrified duration
Rotted iris: moderately reduces petrified duration, +100% blood points for petrification
YELLOW:
Drop of venom: Moderately decreases the cool down of writhing glare
Desecrated offering: Slightly increases speed while using writhing glare
Boa Tongue: slightly increases petrified curation, petrified survivors suffer from the hemorrhage status affect
Drachma: Moderately increases the duration of writhing glare
Petrified hand: Moderately increases the petrified duration
GREEN:
Prophetic offering: Moderately increases speed while using writhing glare
Viper Tongue: Moderately increases petrified duration, petrified survivors suffer from the blindness status affect for 30 seconds
Petrified eye: Greatly increases the petrified duration
Statue to Hecate: When using writhing glare all survivors in your terror radius suffer from the hemorrhage status affect
PURPLE:
Acidic Toxin: Greatly decreases the cool down of writhing glare
Adder Tongue: Moderately increases petrified duration, petrified survivors suffer from the broken status affect for 30 seconds
Statue to Hades: When using writhing glare all survivors in your terror radius suffer from the exhausted and hindered status effects
RED:
Iridescent mirror:
You may activate Serpentine focus while not in writhing glare. When using Serpentine focus you movement speed is greatly decreased. You may not activate writhing glare. Whenever you petrify a survivor you receive a three second stun, and you may not use Serpentine focus for 10 seconds.
Statue to Medusa:
You may kill a survivor that has been petrified three or more times once per game. The time it takes to petrify a survivor is slightly increased.
Perks:
Hex: Ancient Touch
Whenever a survivor is healed at least 20 meters away from you. Hex: Ancient Touch activates, and any survivor who heals another survivor suffers from the exposed statis effect for 6/11/17 seconds.
Silencing Cry:
Whenever you hit a survivor, every survivor within a 10/12/15 meter range loses all perk abilities for 14/16/18 seconds.
Statues Plea:
Whenever you hook a survivor you receive a token. For each token survivors are 5/10/15 % louder and hear each other 5/10/15 % quieter.
*All number are preliminary
*Ancient Touch is a combination of NOED and make your choice. I've always wanted a more aggressive healing punisher. We see stuff like nurses and sloppy, but they are passive and very defensive.
*Silencing cry will act like the survivor has no perks equipped. Including D strike, dead hard or
whatever other perks that can be activated. This also removes lingering effects to be returned back to their normal state after the timer.
*Statues plea works because general game sounds stay the same, so you can't just turn the volume up to counteract it. It makes it harder to hear where your fellow survivors are and easier for you to hear them.
*This perk is the least set in stone (hahahahaha) the secondary effect isn't final, I was thinking of a reduction to movement speed but that provides a large chance of being terrible and broken, it's hard to balance.
Some extra info
- I was thinking her terror radius would be rhythmic hissing, at the very least while using writhing glare
- For her general look I was thinking of her looking like Medusa from Assassins creed Odyssey, she has a very humanoid look, and is pretty creepy. That's the image i've used above.
- Map would be the ruined acropolis
- Standard greek city
- Centers around a 2 storied temple
- Devoted to the gorgon
- Would be full of statues to gods or other greek heroes
- A few other buildings scattered around
- Bathe house
- Arena
- As an extra detail the edges would be a cliff face, to hint at the gorgons back story
- Survivor would be a greek war hero, who I haven't made yet
- For outfits I have no idea
- Maybe a gladiator or battle armor
- She would sway and hiss on the loading screen
- Like the spirit
- Hair snakes have a set movement pattern
- The greek gods are in vogue so a greek myth themed chapter would be super popular. Like i'm not even that into them and i'd be hyped to see an ancient greek themed DLC. They've already used it for that cosmetic set to why the hell not.
Hope you like this chapter idea, and id love feedback on what broken or what would be unfun trash.
