STRUGGLE PHASE
The struggle phase is absolutely pointless.
There was a survey released after the executioner asking players what they would prefer; spamming a button or hitting skill checks. I am willing to bet most players said skill checks
Players should NOT have to spam a button for a minute. It's not FUN spamming a button just to be camped or have a controller die or having an issue with connectivity for a split second only to die.
Just like colorblind mode was added for players who are colorblind. What about players with hands that cramp easily or players with bad thumbs like myself. I personally had a work accident and lost my dominant hand's thumb and using a controller to spam is 10x more annoying now.
The health of dead by daylight is important to anyone who enjoys playing. The game should be balanced in a way so that all players have an enjoyable and worthwhile match at least most matches. If all survivors had to be hooked 3 times and gen speeds were DECREASED then maybe that would help balance it out. Regardless in my personal opinion the devs and other people who control what is implemented into the game should have gotten rid of the struggle a while ago. Its unessacary.

i'm against skill checks cause i don't want to be forced to stay in a game but i am for the idea of just holding down a button.

They definitely would have to but there are not many perks that directly affect the actual struggle phase. The devs recently said they were working on something but it's one of the "issues" like Mori's and colorblind mode. They can easily solve the issue. The main issue is it causes a lot of frustration. See three teammates do gens and not budge while on struggle leads to many players giving up because of whats the incentive for struggling the 60 seconds? It's getting another shot to play. What's the incentive to dying? Getting to play another game...Plus the above complications I mentioned. Does anyone know what most players voted? Can we have a little transparency from our beloved devs?
Imagine this; The killer has to hook each survivor three times, but gen speeds take a little longer. More blood points per trial for all parties. What if the killer cant catch the survivors? The end game could execute a final phase where the killer can kill anyone regardless of hooks. If a survivor made it to the end without being hooked then reward them for accomplishing that and let the killers kill... The end phase should be everyone for themselves and this would also eliminate the overpowered four-man, at least at the end game. Dead by Daylight has so much potential.
The main issue is still the struggle on hook though. There is no reason for the minute-long struggle. What if I had arthritis in my hands...how is that fair?
If you wanted to leave the game then if it were skill checks you could maybe not hit them? The struggle phase is not engaging or enjoyable. I do understand needing a minute to grab a drink or use the washroom but that could be between games.

I think that skillchecks might be too stressful. It's easier to spam than to hit skillchecks.
That being said, I think that the better solution is to just remove struggling. Carpal tunnels will thank us.

If they added an option and players could choose then that takes out all the stress. No one would be able to complain because we would all have the same options. The game should be fun and stress relieving, but obviously, we need a scare factor but frustration does not breed fear, it breeds resentment.

One of the main issues BHVR acknowledges about the button spam for struggle phase is that it isn't easier than skillchecks for lots of people, especially those with disabilities.
DBD is hard-to-impossible to play for lots of different disabilities (though the upcoming colorblind settings will help!), but the devs have stated that they don't want to lose the spirit of the struggle phase, which is why it's taking such a long time for them to come up with an alternative.
I'd wager Pyramid Head's cages were partly designed as a covert way to get community feedback about having skillchecks instead of button mashing.

Well, that's why we have the genius proposal of stop requiring struggling on hook.

Then what about the fight with the entity to live? should the second phase be the survivor going to the entities realm for 1 or 2 minutes and having to complete a challenge to go back at an attempt for escape? (I think the devs want the second phase to still feel like a fight to stay alive).

Well currently it's not a fight against the entity, it's a fight against your medical insurance to treat the carpel tunnel you're going to get from struggling. I think the rate of button spam required should be significantly reduced, at least.

Well if you failed the skill check it would be the same then just purposely fail the skill checks

I have carpal tunnel and struggling makes my wrist hurt so much and cramp up very often which causes me to die. Because of this i now have to wear a wrist strap and its unpleasant. I would prefer skills checks more but i would be extremely happy just holding down a button.

It's not just mashing the button that's a problem, it's how fast you have to mash it. I sometimes fail because twitching my thumb that much for so long, it just tends to skip a press sometimes, and then that's me dead. You shouldn't have to press it any faster than once per second at most.
I'd gladly take skill checks, even if they were every three seconds, and if failing a skill check simply took a chunk of the timer away instead of being instant death. Fail three skill checks and you're dead, seems fair.

that takes 10x longer wdym

If somebody wants to get out of the match so bad they can wait less then a minute.
