Hopefully the new update will finally fix the abuse of 4:3 resolution.

how would they fix it? How would the "fix" work for people who play on 4:3 and 16:10 monitors?

That's sadly the biggest issue, many DBDplayers also play nothing but DBD so some would probably just get a new monitor.

They could at least limit the ratios that arent monitor ones. Like the 1:1 ratio.
Like tf is this? (1080 by 1080)

Clearly more beneficial for one side over the other. The only killer it helps is nurse.
It is very obvious when you play against a survivor using this. But as already stated, bhvr is beyond lazy and won't do anything .
They already do less balance updates then games with a fraction of their work force.

Who's playing on a 4:3 monitor in 2021? Like 0,001% of the DbDs playerbase?

If you're messing with the game files, you should be banned for tampering and cheating. Simple as that. The files aren't there for you to mess with.

The server calculates the hit.

You can say the same thing about using Discord. It gives you an in-game advantage. Why is that okay but changing your resolution isn't?
The reality is this community and the developers have set a precedent for this game. If what you're doing doesn't manipulate the PAK files and does not manipulate the game's data in memory, it is fair game.
Also, what you're asking is really arbitrary. If I buy a TV that is 4:3 to play on, is that okay, but changing my resolution to 4:3 on a screen that is natively 16:9 isn't? Why?
It doesn't even give you any real advantage on anyone but nurse, by the way. It let's you see just a few more lines vertically. That let's her mitigate the post-blink stun.
It lets everyone else see more tree branches. It's a myth (and a bad understanding of basic geometry) that it lets you see better over obstacles.[Edit: I was thinking of it only from a killer perspective at first, since that's what I play. It does let survivors see further, and possibly over an object they may not have otherwise. But it's really negligible, and I'd wager a study would prove it doesn't have a meaningful impact on game results -- just like bloodlust, it's all placebo.]Compare to being able to tell 3 other people everything you're doing and what you can see in a game designed around not being able to communicate.
I'm going to use stretched res on nurse and crosshairs on ranged killers. You're going to use comms. That's just how it's going to be, let's not pretend either of us are going to be "honorable" about it.

People can still edit some settings to make fov much higher. I've seen plenty of streamers playing survivor zoomed out seeing through tall walls that are not supposed to.

It 'validates' the hit (which let's be honest if the killer is slightly high ping it doesn't work). The killer client still calculates the hit. I can prove it to you with it's code or I could even show you what happens when I route my traffic through a vpn. It's actually in the games code hit validation was an after thought. The netcode for clients is unchanged.

That's a cheat and they probably have the rest of it hidden since streamer mode on these things is a feature...

Dedicated servers is an after thought. The killer is a client the same as survivor. Hits are based off the intersection of hitboxes relative to their delay to the server.

Sorry you don't know what you're talking about. My last reply to you.
You just elaborated on what you thought is the case. What you said is the programming of the killers runtime with latest packets received from the server. I can prove it to you. Why do you think a survivors ping can be low and still take hits metres away even after hit validation and dedicated server introduced. You're misinformed. I don't know where from but what you're saying just isn't true.

Think there's a misunderstanding of how online pvp games work on your end.

Ok, it sounds like misunderstood you, sorry.

Dude, It's not ignorance to understand your viewpoint and still disagree with it. I can see why you would say since both killer and survivor could use stretch res, it's not unfair because it's available to both.
The issue is two fold - for one thing, survivor absolutely benefit much more from stretch res than killer does, because the killer is playing in first person stretch res barely does anything for them, but allows survivors to basically have a bird's eye view from a third person perspective. Inherently unbalanced.
The other issue is when you don't see how unfair this is in a cross-platform game.. I'll never be able to benefit from stretch res on a ps4. It's not fair to expect that I should.habe to just accept that because I can't modify things outside the game, the more reasonable expectation is that people shouldn't be trying to game the system.for an advantage and only use the resources available to everyone within the game itself.
If you ever need to understand how much taking advantage of resources outside of the game effects of, look at the difference in performance between solo survivors and SWF with Comms.

This is true.
Stretched res is so much better with survivor. It's primarily a benefit to survivor. It should be removed.

Honestly people that go out of their way to stretch the living hell out of their screens for advantages to the game are probably the most try hard people you'll ever see, if you're so damn good at the game why you need to stretch your screen out? People on Fortnite used to do it, and thankfully Epic Games banned it permanently. But with this issue being apparent in DBD for a long time, BHVR don't care obviously.

hopefully they will do the same for the people abusing filters and making the game way brighter than intended.

...and I said I'll prove it to you then if you speak my language. What's there to argue? You're 100% wrong on this.

It will cost them money to fix it for sure. It's a technical issue they face and it has to be programmed in. This is more BHVR's fault than the players. Stretched res is nothing new and there are solutions for it which I mentioned earlier.

That they can't really fix. It's a post render effect they use and is completely out of reach from BHVR. Stretched res they can fix though.
