Hopefully the new update will finally fix the abuse of 4:3 resolution.
I just went to the twitch page recently and saw several streamers at once using this resolution.
Let me remind you that this gives the game advantage, expanding the vertical vision, helping survivors and killers in some moments. The developers know about this and have not done anything for months (years?), Prioritizing something else, thereby encouraging unfair play.
And also let me remind you that more than 3 years since the release of the game, any player could, by editing a text file, increase the killer's red spot, remove fog, remove wall textures. Anti-cheat did not react to this in any way and the devs knew about it. How much, then, will the developers deal with a resolution that is dishonest in relation to normal players? A couple more years? I think it will say a lot.

Don't believe it does. Maybe the mid chapter if you complain hard enough.
0 -
Playing at 4:3 resolution sounds like its own punishment, honestly.
11 -
That's so true
0 -
Unfortunately, some individuals are willing to tolerate distorted image proportions for the sake of an advantage in the game.
17 -
This will be the only complaint from me, I wrote everything I wanted.
0 -
It's broken beyond belief but BHVR doesn't seem to care. It's just one more reason not to play the killers who need to rely on los breaks to get hits.
12 -
Meh if people are that sad that they want to go this much out of their way and kill their visual quality to get an advantage in a stupid party game like DbD I couldn't really care less. It's dumb and essentially cheating but it's whatever to me at this point, it's not something that's ever gonna get fixed because honestly how would you even fix it without a lot of work. Same with Blight's flick exploit.
6 -
Yes, each player has his own attitude towards this game, but it is still PVP and there is no place for cheating.
3 -
I mean, can u say that both
- Killer / Survivors players
- Competitive players?
This isn't about hurting one side more or less.
It's about removing it entirely which can make a lot of players & competitive players annoyed.
Not mentioning those that play on lower res for better FPS.
------
Pfff, while we're at it let's remove the ability to increase saturation & brightness. I'm sure content creators will love it. Since this can be seen as an advantage as well.... /s

Truthfully I’ve only seen killer streamers using different resolution and I can’t it’s so ugly. Hopefully they can change that
2 -
What? Do you understand what you wrote before the resolution opinion and what message you wanted to convey? I, for example, no.
To obtain FPS, you can reduce the scaling of the resolution in the game menu and even lower than that available through the text file of settings, without setting 4: 3 and thereby not gaining an advantage. So this excuse is highly questionable.
With an increase in brightness, you will not be able to do anything in any game, but some things can and should be fixed.
2 -
Are u that NEGATIVELY impacted by the 4:3 res that you want it removed?
And are not looking for things to just complain about?
0 -
You can find the answers to these questions above, I see no reason to repeat myself.
6 -
???????????????????????????????
LMAO
0 -
Wait, you seem to be one of those taking advantage of this and try to defend it. You know, if I understood right away, I would not even begin to answer, to people like you, I have a negative attitude. And I hope the developers will do something in the near future.
5 -
Imagine going on Twitch
And being absolutely disgusted, angry, and mad about other people's resolution
This is one of the least problems DBD has.
Mate, grow a pair and move on....
-----------
I was absolutely amazed by how you responded to me in my previous reply.

Anyone can tell you stretched res is cheating (at least i think thats what this is) allowing you to see over loops you shouldn't be able to see over. And survivors want blight 180 flick removed when that just uses your dpi not literally going into the game files and updating the resolution. My thing:both need fixed.
10 -
Blight flick 90* is intended. Blight going over 90* to even 180* degrees and going as far as 270* degrees is an exploit / unintended mechanic. Blight being able to pull these kind of things removes one of the best counter plays to him. End of discussion.
"The DPI lunge is plain and simple going beyond what is intended and might as well be called an exploit."
Why not unlock the potential for billy to turn 180* degrees then? If blight can, why can't he? Billy has a harder time traversing the map than Blight does. He can surely use some buffs since he's weaker than Blight.
McLean said it himself. What is not intentional is being able to turn more than you're supposed to.
If you were to remove stretch res, you would hurt both sides. Is this want BHVR wants right now? Players are desperate for more graphic settings, better FOVs and god knows what else.
The reason I don't care about stretch res is because It never impacted me negatively. Neither my survivor or my killer experience. Playing a competitive game you should expect these kind of things IMO. I have 4.3k+ hours in TF2 and played with stretch res. Now you do have to understand that the reason I don't care about stretch res is because I came from this kind of environment and see DBD as a competitive game.
------
Besides, if u want to discuss this, go to my post about the J-flick blight. This post has nothing to do about it.
I can give you the link.

What I find funny is how all of the “toxic” big name survivor main content creators that think they’re so good and have their fans calling them “teh bestest surviv0r evar!!” All use stretch res as it destroys any chance at mindgames. Stretch res and second chance perks galore, really shows how many of these people are carried.
11 -
such as? Surely you know who to name and I wonder what's your definition of a "big name survivor"
0 -
Examples?
Stretching 4:3 resolution should be removed. You can't stop people stretching resolution but you can program the game engine to fix the field of view and checkerboard render to stretch resolution. This is what Source engine games do. It's for intergrity.
I think you're generalising and underestimating survivor content creators though. Using meta perks doesn't make them bad at the game.
4 -
Tru3ta1ent fan detected.
5 -
So cheating to see over loops you arent supposed to see is fine because "bhvr doesnt allow us to do it normally"? You know how bad that sounds? SOME loops are balanced around neither side seeing eachother.
Like this. If this was any killer taller then pig there is no mindgame. Because you went into the game files and modified them for an advantage. Aka:cheating.
7 -
It would hurt boths sides? Thats a really bad argument. There is no reason that stretched res should stay.
Even if all would use it and nobody had an advantage, it destroys a core gameplay (mindgames).
But we have players on console who cant use it. And to be honest imo you shouldnt be forced to change your game that much when you want even playing ground.
7 -
I think the argument that "both sides will be hurt" is fine.
Unless you're ignorant and focus only on one side.
There are both killers and survivors that use it.
0 -
Yeah both sides use it but say we console players cant do such a thing and as a console killer i get autohaven against a 4man stretched res. Ill never catch them off guard because they stretched their resolution. Also the pc players who say don't want to go into the files and update their res for a advantage vs the people who do. Its obvious whos cheating in that regard. Fixing it means noone can use it:Which is good.

LOOP BEFORE
LOOP AFTER

I do but me making a comment like that and throwing out streamer names is very likely against the rules of the forum.
1 -
Jessu christ Bro, I am aware. I was born before the whole stretch res debacle
What part of "I dont care" you don't get?
You won't change my mind due to my background / environment I grew up in.
0 -
So you grew up in a environment that exploited stuff for competitive advantages? Basically a environment of cheaters/exploiters?
6 -
you clearly didn't read:
"The reason I don't care about stretch res is because It never impacted me negatively. Neither my survivor or my killer experience. Playing a competitive game you should expect these kind of things IMO. I have 4.3k+ hours in TF2 and played with stretch res. Now you do have to understand that the reason I don't care about stretch res is because I came from this kind of environment and see DBD as a competitive game."
You out for blood out here?
0 -
Cute of you saying that you don't know the forum rules and that your comment was nothing more than a biased statement. I bet you don't even know what YOUR definition of 'toxic' is in your statement.
You get outplayed a lot & blame survivors for your lack of skill, don't you? and I'll quote @Toblerone007 on this one: "I think you're generalising and underestimating survivor content creators though. Using meta perks doesn't make them bad at the game."
We are free to discuss as long as there are boundaries.
For example I am free to give my opinion on Tru3 / Otz whatever it's good or negative as long as I don't insult them and I'm being respectful. As far as I know.
0 -
I don't think so as they haven't mentioned they're changing the fundemental way the game handles changes in aspect ratio, and that would be a pretty big change I'm sure.
Because that's the only way it will ever get fixed and I don't really see what other ways it could be done. Even if they restricted players to "approved" resolutions 4:3 resolutions would likely be among them, as there's still people using genuine boxy 4:3 monitors today. And the really extreme stretching happens when you go beyond 4:3 and approach 1:1 (the example posted several times on page 1 in this thread is 1080x1080, a 1:1 perfect square resolution)
1 -
To take it one step further. I'm gonna use League of Legends as an example.
When any League user posts on the forum about balance their game statistics, match history, champion preferences, win rates, kd ratio, cs scores are visible to all players and forum users. If somebody makes a claim for balance, players instantly will check their account. As soon as they see Bronze IV their argument is instantly invalidated because they're not good at the game.
The most frustrating thing here is that you have no clue about the skill of the forum posters here. It's so hard to assess each killer/survivors skill level when they make a post/rant or whatever. When you argue with someone here who just doesn't understand some high level techniques or even some mechanics you get these brick wall responses. It's fine to be bad but if you are, you really shouldn't have an input to how the games balances. There are exceptions. You can have low elo stuff in the game that's terrible high elo that has merit for change. Take old ruin for example.
3 -
I dont understand. Why shouldnt it be removed?
When you remove it, both sides cannot use it.
6 -
Do you also support killer clients no longer calculating hits? So use of VPN high ping and lag switches no longer work? Also bad connections in general no longer providing an advantage.
1 -
Wow that’s a hell of a reach.
Why don’t you just to look them up? You’ll see some of them running stretch res. It is easy mode against the low-mid tier killers because it destroys most chances for mindgames. Maybe they have skill but it’s sure hard to tell when they’re running ez mode.
Your whole schtick seems to be downplaying the advantage from stretch res so I have a feeling for what kind of player you are.
4 -
Why do you think i want that bad connection gives an advantage? What is this question?
2 -
It's not a reach.
I'm calling your statement BIAS cause you're ignorant to the fact both sides use it.
Besides, we are the ones that asked you to name those survivors. YOU are the one who came with that claim or have you forgotten what u said in your statement and trying to brush it off? What's wrong. You can't back up your claim? Then why talk...
0 -
Dude, you're ignorant. Dbd is not a Competitive FPS, and that's why nobody gives a crap or respects TF2 outside of it's insular community.
0 -
What is this strawman BS you guys keep putting out there? Of course people would want to get rid of outside, unintended advantages in this game. Why would you assume anyone here supports any of that? Only because YOU do..
I can't believe there are people in this community (very new, obviously) who think modifying files in the game is a fair advantage to play for in what is essentially a giant game of hide and seek.. Like that's actually pathetic.
2 -
If you read my first comment on this thread I disclosed that I want stretched resolution removed and how they would have to do it.
I'm very against advantages in this game besides skill. I pulled that straw because I'm pretty sure OP commented on a thread about killer client calculated hits advantages should stay in the game. Just wanted to make sure.
Mate it's not BS I legit had majority of killer players not wanting the server to calculate hits. Seriously.
1 -
Sorry I quoted the wrong comment. My bad ahahah
0 -
I'm the one ignorant?
Not you refusing to see this from my perspective?
No?
I get it, I'm ignorant cause I don't agree with you. I get it now.
0 -
Because trash talking content creators gets threads closed here, and for the record I don’t agree with stretched res using Nurse players either.
I don’t see why you’re getting so aggravated by it.
1 -
I play competitive on native resolution and have zero issues playing against people on 1440x1080 or 1x1.
0 -
You want more FOV? Use Shadowborn (a perk slot)! Changing the gamefiles should be bannable.
It only isn't, because they don't know how to track it. Or they're scared to lose this part of the playerbase.
Not only strechted res + more fps gives both sides an advantage, brighten screens are way more common. It says all when people come into Tru3s stream and ask him why his game looks so dark. Well, thats how's the game supposed to be, for everyone! Because it's an asymmetrical, comepetive HORRORGAME. Now think about console players who can't change anything. Fair, right? And please don't come with the "just turn crossplay off if you don't like it" arguement. I just want the same rules for EVERYONE.
4 -
You don't have to do anything with the games files to stretch resolution. You can do it 3rd party with your graphics cards post rendering effects. They don't need to ban anyone. They need to limit unreal engine's rendering for field of view. Make it so bigger vertical resolutions just checkerboard the maximum field of view set by the game engine. I'm pretty sure UE4 has this in built (not 100% sure about that) but you could definitely program it yourself.
Again brightness is a post rendering effect. You can do this on console too with some TV's. Exactly how PC users do it with their graphics card settings.
1 -
What is the stupid arguing here?
Does stretched res give an unfair advantage not intended by the devs over people who do not use stretched res and play the game as intended?
Yes?
If yes: ######### fix it.
I won't argue with you, you're not taking me down to your level.
1 -
There's no sense arguing with cheaters lol. And yeah all that you mentioned is basically cheating.
The people here defending such crap would argue that using a bigger Racket would not be an advantage since "everybody can do it".
I don't even see what's to discuss here, you're getting an unfair advantage you should be banned, this would happen in ANY other big game but Bhvr is too afraid to "attack" it's content creators.
