Is "Cripple them all" bugged?
So I'm working my way through the various Steam achievements and right now have chosen to try and get "Cripple them All", the Trapper one. The description for the achievement is "In public matches, with the Trapper, catch a total of 100 survivors in your Bear Traps."
I just got out of a game where I got a bunch of traps because I had everyone on death-hook and one person dead from second hook (later found out in after game chat they hit the wrong button, strugglechangewhendevs?) and had downed and "delivered" everyone for their third hook (I don't go for kills since I'm not tryharding Rank climbing at the moment and have finished up the latest sacrifice challenge) and made it SUPER OBVIOUS that I wasn't going to kill people by putting down a trap next to them, picking them up and walking into my own trap. After that I'd set up a trap and they'd walk into it and I let them get out and after the gens were done we stayed at the exit gate just trapping and freeing and so on.
So there were a lot of times my beartraps caught the Survivors. I didn't think to keep track of all the times. But I had noted down how much progress I had on the achievement before and checked after. Going into that game I had 22/100 and once the game was over I had...25/100. Yes, only THREE counted. It was the three I actually grabbed people from the traps instead of letting them free themselves or M1ing them.
The achievement says nothing about having to grab them out of the trap instead of M1ing them, or not letting them free themselves. It just says "catch them in your bear traps" and not "grab them from your bear traps". So I don't know if this is a bug or just poor word choice and an awkward design for the achievement. Having to grab people out of the traps makes it so much harder because normally by the time you get there it's safer to go for the M1 lung unless they got trapped right near you and even then the hit is better than the grab in most cases.

It’s poorly worded but you actually have to grab the survivors out of the grab. M1‘ing them or them freeing themselves from the traps won’t contribute to the achievement.
also sometimes the counter doesn’t update immediately.

I know I marked this as "Answered" but I think it might be that the achievement only counts UNIQUE Survivors. I haven't been keeping track after every game I play but I've bene making sure to grab as many people as I can from traps and I did update my tracker before this latest game so got the results for it.
In the game I just had Felix DCs near the start of the match because he had a case of load lag and me finding him just as he starts moving for a free hit. He then doesn't do so well in the chase, no signs of lag in the chase though, and I don't pick him up right away, instead stopping to pick up a trap first. As soon as I do pick him up DC.
So I made it really clear I wasn't going to be one of Those Killers to Dwight and Yui when I find them on a gen together and at the end of the match me and Dwight were at an exit gate just trading traps. I had three set up, he'd step in one, I'd grab him from it and step in another and he'd then step in the third while I reset the first, repeat as ECG counts down and Yui comes over to join in on the ankle biting fun. I made sure I only ever grabbed then from my traps and never M1ed then. Game is over, Dwight thanks me for the fun and we complain about DCers for a bit before moving on. I check my progress because that had to be AT LEAST ten grabs during the ECG alone and, nope, only went up by three. Which, hum, I did trap every Survivor other than Felix at least once that match, even if Feng never did catch on and only got bit once... .
So I'm thinking the achievement only ever counts a Survivor once per trial. Which is still a bit silly but makes a bit more sense than it having to be grabs. My next game I'm going to go back to M1ing people and see how much progress I make. Hopefully I'll get at least two different Survivors in traps.
Edit: So, had my next game and got eight more towards my goal, by playing around with TWO Survivors after one DCed from themselves and someone else going down at the same time and the other DCed on hook when a third ran right into me in their sight and even though I signaled to go for the save they still DCed on hook. So Claudette, Feng and I are just chilling out doing gens and snapping ankles. I do more M1s than I do grabs but I do a mix of both, didn't count each, and when game is over check the update expecting for an up-tick of two only to see an up-tick of eight.
My only guess here is it doesn't count if you do the same Survivor twice in a row? I'm not going to rigorously test this because I'm almost finished with it, only eighteen more whateveritcounts more to go. So if anyone else is working on this achievement and is curious on if it is bugged or not the answer is "No clue".

Sometimes the count doesn’t update directly after a match, I also had it once where it updated after another match where I didn’t even play trapper.
and it may very well be that multiple traps for one survivors in a row/in one match do not count more than 1. It’s either buggy or intended or it updates later on. I hated this achievement especially for that. Had the same on Skilled Huntress btw. Farmed around 8 downs but did only get 2 or so and was a little frustrated and shut down the PC. Next day I had the other downs counted..
