What's the actual point of rank reset?
I mean there's no incentive to get to a certain rank or anything and within a day or so I'm basically back to where I was. Problem is I just get matched up with and against the weirdest survivors/killers doing the weirdest things during rank reset for a few days and then it'll all be back to normal. I usually take a break during rank reset to avoid all the mumbo jumbo but I decided to play this time and I just wonder is there an actual point to it?

If rank reset wasn’t a thing everyone would be in red ranks. This would make matchmaking a mess

There wasn't a reason really, which is why they're changing how ranks work here soon. The matchmaking part will be a background thing and your visual rank will only be that, visual. The more you play, the more you "rank up" until the reset, in which you get bloodpoints for the rank you reached, then everyone is reset back to 20.

i love it because you can try no-meta stuff for some days and try killers that i don't often play

i think rank reset is good but there's just no way it should be every single month. maybe once every 3 months or something.

Same, as ranks really don't mean anything as they are
No news on when it'll actually go live, but another thing they are doing is making it so each Killer's internal rank is seperate as well. So say you play a ton of Trapper and get really good, you'll be getting higher ranked games, but then you want to try out Nurse. You've never played Nurse so you'll get lower ranked games. That's the part I'm really excited for

I mean yeah it does make sense there's nothing wrong with it. The current rank reset feature in this game just seems a little idk I guess a bit bland. I enjoy it cause I have fun with the grind of ranking up but that's all there is too it really. No rewards for making it to a certain rank, no cool cosmetics just back to purple for a few games and then straight back to where I was. I guess what I'm trying to say is it would add a whole other form of fun to this game at least for me if there was something to look forward to a rank reset. Kinda like with the shrine every week it's almost like being a kid at Christmas being like ooo what am I gonna get lol.

so players that didnt play for a long time dont end up being rank 1 when they come back to the game after a break of, lets say, a year.

Understandable.
I'm not saying current rank reset is good, just stating why it's there.
It makes sense to be rewarded for making it to the top, so the devs planning to put it in is nice.

I don't really get the current rank reset. If everyone drops one color block each month, aren't you playing against the exact same people anyway? I don't see how it changes anything.
