Ok, so keys are a problem, everyone wants them changed. Keys are linked to hatch, also issues there. Here is the solution I see.

  1. There is one key hidden in a chest somewhere in the map.
  2. There are a minimum of 10 chests on each map, equaling a maximum of 200 seconds search time.
  3. The hatch remains closed when generators are powered.
  4. In order to open the hatch, you must find the key.
  5. The killer can close the hatch after it has been opened. (Since there is only one key, it is not possible for the hatch to be opened again.)
  6. The hatch does not spawn until the following conditions are met: Either, only one remaining survivor, or all generators have been completed.
