The new matchmaking thinks I'm good at the game?

The new matchmaking in my experience is worse than the old MMR..

With killer I get put against a full red rank squad, and as survivor I get put against.. A full red rank squad!

Im flattered the game thinks I am at this level but in truth I have less than 100 hours in this game on PC. I also don't have the perks to combat this.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

The matchmaking is worse than before with this new "MMR".

Just an example of an average survivor game:

How many games have you played on both?

The game has always sucked when it comes to matchmaking, I've played against a full squad of red rank survivors before the mmr system was even mentioned despite the fact that I was a yellow rank killer back then.

Not to rain on your parade or anything but I wouldn't be surprised if it thought that those red ranks were really only as good as a rank 16. I'm rank 1 and I got a rank 18 who was legitimately better than 90% of the red ranks I usually get matched up with.

The rank system can kinda be gamed a bit. I hover around rank 8 occasionally breaking into 7 simply because I play a well rounded game and I like to think I do so *decently* but as a Survivor, 1 gen, 1 Totem, 1 Unhook, 1 Heal, and you can pretty much safely gain 1 pip if not at least safety pip. Play more matches in a day and you'll see it go up.

After the new MMR, I played about 10 survivor and about 7 killer, I don't have too much time everyday. The games were all pretty much the same. Before the new MMR? Countless (I assume the new MMR was always running in the background)

I feel your pain, but at least you managed to kill them all lol, my results are pretty different x(

I get your point but does the new system really think I'm a red rank? I'd say I'm high green at best :/

Thing is I actually don't want to rank up lol

Seeing a red rank survivor tells you nothing about how good that person is as a teammate or even as a survivor. That isn't to say there are not good players and teammates in red ranks, but in my experience most are neither. I was a red rank survivor for awhile myself. Here's the thing though. What that meant was I knew each match I needed to have enough points in all categories to gain that all important pip or at the very least to not depip. That often led to choices of doing something good for the team or good for myself.

    Example:

Let's say someone just got hooked. I'm working on a generator that's close. I know I've already got all the objective points I need this match, but I need points in the altruism category. Even though the killer is camping I see another survivor running towards the hook. I realize I'm closer. Do I?

    1) keep working on the generator knowing it's better for the team and our chances of escape or

    2) Go perform an unsafe hook removal. It's a bad move for the team and decreases the chance of escape for everyone, but it just might ensure I get enough points in the altruism category to get that all important pip. Kind of ironic if you think about it. An unsafe hook removal in that situation is the exact opposite of an altruistic action, but it ensures you get 1000 altruism points.

Having said that I'm not being critical of anyone playing to gain or maintain rank. I understand it. I'm merely pointing out that playing for rank does not necessarily equate to being a good teammate or even a good player. I would even go so far as to say it often means the opposite.
