Discussing the Whole Blight / Oni 180s
Ight so. Filthy Killer Main here with 5.2k+ hours, Just wanted to give my two thoughts on this "Exploit" that people keep on referring to, Now i want to say that. Imho and truly My opinion, I don't think it's a Actual exploit due to the fact that there's alot more survivors that exploit more things than Killer
Don't Believe Me? Well there's still the Window tech some Survivors can do. It's basically they can fast vault a window when it Shouldn't be said fast vault, There's plenty of Youtube videos that shows this in Action,
Stretch Res: Need i say more?
Not being able to be picked up on some parts of the map: This was patched out at one point but came back Recently, It happens on just bout every map / Every Gen, (Including Basement corners on the bottom of the stairs)
Swf: (This one is a joke. Don't sue me)
Survivors abusing multiple bugs whereas killers can't: Wake up bug. very odd Ds bugs, (The one i'm referring to is When a survivor hits ds but gets hooked. You hear the sound but it doesn't do anything. then when you get downed again and you just get picked up and get instant saved by nothing, but the Ds kicked in to restun the killer)
the Sabo Exploit: https://clips.twitch.tv/NimbleResilientAlpacaWow-54sQh_9EJYorFI5h (I had to do said exploit just to get this clip. i am not innocent in this either. Sue me)
There's alot more i can say for survivor exploits. But when killer's get an actual thing that's changes the skill, People complain bout it
TL:DR Survivors have alot more exploits than Killers. with some exploits i agree they patch out. (I.E Infinite Legion) But when a new thing comes out for the Killer that is "Intended" and changes the skill between good onis / blights and Bad ones. and i say, Leave it in the game.
(I'ma get sued for this...if all else fails @GoodBoyKaru is here with pictures to calm people.)

They all need fixed honestly since if something is not intended and the devs don't like it its a exploit not a tech. I will agree they need a big patch to fix all these they can't just fix j-flick and ignore all the other current exploits especially stretched. So im just gonna ride it out and hope they all go soon.
1 -
I dunno if saying theres more survivor exploits than killer, makes this not an exploit.
They need to make it possible for console to flick like that, then it can just be base. Without it, these killers (especially blight) can have a pretty hard time.
2 -
But people complain a lot about every single thing you said as well though.
Either way if I understand it correctly it's in the same camp as stretched res when it comes to how it would actually be fixed if the devs decide to fix it - they'd have to change something rather fundamental about how the game works. Stretched is just the result of DBD taking whatever desktop resolution the user has and running with it without any questions despite the game having a very weird way of rendering on wacky non-standard aspect ratios, this thing... I guess the game doesn't know how to handle sudden DPI changes or something?
I'm sure if they considered either something that was critical to change they could, but it wouldn't just be correcting some sort of weird mistake like with the Wake Up bug or infinite mending Legion bug. Don't ask me how, overly aggressively messing with the resolution or mouse input of users sounds like a really bad idea if done wrong but I'm sure they could find a way if they decided to do so.

What about the auto aim on killers a good blight billy and oni on console can use it to track the hit heck I’ve done it a few times and got a curved hit barley
0 -
Idk if they can make it possible console to have it..
0 -
I think scott found a way for both last i checked. Force dbd to run the native resolution of whatever monitor your running. And for the j flick put a curve limit and if you exceed the limit it forces the flick back to its limit. Itll look like ######### but it fixes the problem lol.
0 -
The devs already take a long time to fix the game. don't get me wrong.. But to me it's what makes oni / blight Unique as a Killer in general,
0 -
Increase the sensitivity of both of their turning speeds while swinging
0 -
They could. but the devs would somehow break it in a update and require to fix it. in like a month and a half or 3 months. And the devs do not really like to help console..
0 -
I'm not expert on this sorta stuff, but could you even somehow enforce native resolution as long as DBD is one of those "borderless "fullscreen"" games? The kind without any actual resolution options beyond resolution scale in-game that just takes your desktop resolution? Not to mention that there's no benefit at all if someone uses a lower resolution at the same aspect ratio (like going from 1920x1080 to 1280x720 or even 1024x576) for performance purposes and such. They're all 16:9 so the game will look the same, just... worse, lol.
But for the flick I guess some sort of hard limit could work, even though it's strange that the specific steps involved in it break the intended 90 degree or whatever cap.
0 -
What.
The other side having dumb exploits doesn't make it not a dumb exploit. No quotation marks, do not pass go, do not collect $200.
You can say it's not fair that they have dumb exploits too all day, but at least admit to yourself that the J-Flick is borderline, if not just cheating that should also be thrown out with the rest of the exploits survivors have.
12 -
Using the reasoning that "the other side has their ######### so let us keep this" is not feasible. No one is defending the usage of those exploits, however that shouldn't detract from what this exploit on Oni and Blight allows them to do, and specifically it benefits PC killers. Just like the "fatigue tech" exploit on nurse it needs to be fixed.
3 -
Right now it doesnt force the flick back though if you exceed the cap. The stretched thing idrk.
0 -
There's gunna be that ONE survivor main that'll question me bout it. that's why i added all that fun jazz
Blight has the Fatigue Cancel too. Harder to pull off however. Also It's unique to both Oni / Blight like i said, and it's neat as all hell to tell the difference between good blight / oni and bad ones. imho it's like saying Billy should only be locked to a 45 degree angle and nothing more. (this would hurt him severely...)
0 -
I say again--
W h a t .
4 -
Then they should patch that exploit as well. It doesn't matter if its "unique" its still an exploit that is almost exclusive to PC killers. To address the Billy point but idk why, it is perfectly achievable to utilize his full range allowed when he starts his chainsaw run on console just like PC. That makes no sense and imo I think you are trying to distract from the main discussion which is the exploitation of dpi on pc killers mouses which exceeds the limits in the game.
5 -
The Oni/Blight 180 flicks are exploits and nothing will change that.
They are not intended mechanics.
It might take skill to use them properly but that doesn't make them ok.It's up to the devs to decide whether it's alright to use it or not
5 -
I kinda like the extra curves of Oni and Blight, it adds more skill playing with that Killer. Also I need to say it's not 100% of the time we can land it, but with enough practive, you can get good enough to land them 90% of the time.
The tedious hold M1 in loops to catch the Survivor is boring, so at least that's something available for both of the two and another thing which good Survivor needs to be aware of.
They should just enable console users to use keyboard/mouse and then there's no more unfair advantages.
0 -
That's what i'm saying.
I don't care if people use it, but don't pretend the sky isn't blue and call it "tech" so you don't have to admit you're using an exploit.
It's not debatable, it's categorical.
3 -
An exploit is still an exploit, no matter what the other side can do. That's like justifying cheating by saying "Yeah but the other side were cheating too-" no. That's not how this works, that's not how any of this works. The phrase "two wrong's don't make a right" rings true here, though alternatively you could look to the Just War Theory, and one of the principles of 'Jus in Bellum' - just because the enemies broke the criteria doesn't mean you can.
It is an exploit. It should be fixed.
8 -
It's really stupid.
People should just admit that they are exploiting rather then trying to find an euphemism for it.
It's an uninteded mechanic and there's literally no point trying to argue if it's an exploit or not
4 -
Its neither an exploit nor cheating.
0 -
It's literally the dictionary definition of an exploit as confirmed by McLean what do you mean?
3 -
@GoodBoyKaru This is the definition for exploit in gaming: In video games, an exploit is the use of a bug or glitches, game system, rates, hit boxes, speed or level design etc. by a player to their advantage in a manner not intended by the game's designers.[1] Exploits have been classified as a form of cheating;[citation needed] however, the precise determination of what is or is not considered an exploit can be controversial. This debate stems from a number of factors but typically involves the argument that the issues are part of the game and require no changes or external programs to take advantage of them.
That is NOT an exploit since its just the polling rate of the mouse itself and not a part of the game. Also, here is the link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_exploit#:~:text=In%20video%20games%2C%20an%20exploit,intended%20by%20the%20game's%20designers. There you go. THAT'S the definition and I watched that stream with McLean. It is neither an exploit nor a cheat. You're not using a program to mess with the games' files.
Aimbot would be messing with the game files and standing on a rock where the killer can't get you would be cheating because its not an intended game design but the poll rate of a mouse isn't either.
0 -
It's the abuse of a bug or glitch to gain an in-game advantage not intended by the developers. That's LITERALLY an exploit my guy, you just told me it was right there. It doesn't say anywhere in that definition that you need to use a third party to exploit it, it states that you abuse a bug or a glitch.
Was the exploit in Paladins where you could heal your entire team at once as Seris without the talent "The Void Abides" not an exploit because you didn't need a third party software to do so? No, it was an exploit and patched accordingly.
This is exactly the same.
3 -
It is NOT A BUG OR A GLITCH. It's just your turn rate of your mouse. Poll Rate is dictated by your computer and you can freely change it. Bug or a Glitch has to do with the game itself. Your Paladins thing has to do with IN-GAME. THAT is an EXPLOIT. "Number of factors but typically involves the argument that the issues are part of the game". It was PART of the GAME itself. Polling Rate is NOT part of the game. It's just your computer settings.
1 -
The bug or glitch: the first few frames of the Letal Rush lunge doesn't have a cap on turning.
The exploit: High DPI can cause the Blight to turn much faster than he should be able to.
Was it unintended: Yes, as confirmed by McLean.
Does it give an in-game advantage: Yes.
So it's an exploit.
Though if this isn't an exploit, stretched res isn't one either. It's just your monitor settings and has nothing to do with the game, so if you're okay with this then you have to be okay with SR for the same reason.
3 -
Good Blight here. I figured out how to do the 180 exploit in a single trial. It's easy as can be and it actually does require the use of external software/hardware (you have to change sensitivity settings around and/or have about a metre of clear desk space and a wireless mouse). And it's also literally an exploit, because it was completely unintended. It's exploiting a single frame at the start of Blights Lethal Rush lunge.
Also it removes Blights counterplay, which makes it significantly worse than anything survivors can do.
7 -
@GoodBoyKaru Stretch Res doesn't bother me because you're not modifying the game files. If you were using wall-hacks and aimbot by modding the engine files, I definitely have a problem with you but changing your settings on your computer to fit your playstyle is not an exploit nor cheating to me. Is it annoying for others? Maybe. If you're not directly affecting the game files themselves, you play how you want to play. Same if you want to face camp or teabag, you play the way you want. I'm just sick of people complaining about the smallest things and blowing them WAAAAY out of proportion.
I play both sides. I try to be fair to both sides and I speak what I feel needs to be addressed. If they need to upgrade the poll speed for console AGAIN (they gave them 100% turning speed increase awhile back for controllers "Poll Rate Increase but it was artificially") then I'm fine with that. Give them 200% speed increase to make everything equal but I've been quiet a good amount for weeks now, only talking here and there but I'm so sick of Spirit and I finally see Blight and Oni being played and ACTUALLY enjoying myself and I see the forums going nuts over something that isn't that bad. Before I get, oh, you're a Blight and Oni fan. I AM NOT. I can't stand playing either of them but I do enjoy going against them.
If that is considered an exploit to McLean then the devs have literally created an exploit for console players by increasing poll rate artificially for controller players. (Edit: Curve Billy did the same thing and no one complained about it but Blight does it and everyone loses their minds. Also, its not external software. Your computer allows you to change your poll rate.)

Wait, there is a bug that lets Oni do a 180 flick again? The only thing even close to this that I knew about was his bug where he flings in a wild and random directly after swinging during demon strike.
0 -
@HollowsGrief You just change your poll rate on your mouse to a higher sensitivity and if you flick your mouse, you can do a quick turn. That's it. People are throwing a fit over it but Spirit with no tells is just fine.
0 -
OK but it's not actually a 180゚ for either of these killers
0 -
Sure?
It can even be more on Blight. (Just look at 3:33)
0 -
If it was an exploit. then why hasn't bhvr put a warning on players to Not abuse it...
It's literally changing Dpi on your mouse which has a Dpi switch. ...on said Mouse.. you also need a large ass mousepad Just to DO said flicks which is already hard to do if you don't know how to flick properly.
1 -
Also,this one
1 -
Thatsa nasty oni main. could never be me
0 -
And?
You are still abusing an unintended mechanic. No point in argueing there.
If it was an exploit. then why hasn't bhvr put a warning on players to Not abuse it...
I guess they only do it when it's really really gamebreaking like the Legion mending exploit.
It's still an exploit though
3 -
Definitely cheating. Why haven't they addressed this?
2 -
But it's "Game breaking" as people would say.
...Why hasn't behavior announced Anything about it on the forums saying "It's an Exploit. do NOT use a dpi to even 180 flick around corners and whatnot" ..that's like saying people who play competitive siege are not allowed to have a high Sensitivity AT ALL,
1 -
They only announce if it’s something they are banning for. A good recent example was the nurse fatigue exploit used by SupaAlf. They didn’t announce it but instead fixed it in the update.
1 -
Tbh I think it should stay in the game as a mechanic, the only problem i see is that console people can't do it and now there complaining. Like i said in a previous thread. Give the console players the ability to do this by giving them the graphic settings, letting them choose it and getting more fps, and raise the sensitivity. Boom done.
And also yes it does have counter play. You treat him like normal and don't hug the walls as much. If he caught up to you he was going to hit you either way. He still the same. It also removes the BS counter of spinning in a circle to negate his lunge. As well as tiny walls that any killer could get. Plus it takes timing muscle memory and rewards skill. Hence the reason I believe it should stay. Just optimise the consoles. Allowing everyone to do it.
It's not as bad as everyone claims. It's not like one flick ends the game. You just need more practice against it. Look it up learn how it works and record your gameplay against one, learn what you could of done. And apply that into the future.
So stop trying to remove a unintended mechanic that adds more fun and skill to a killer but instead make it basekit.
2 -
I don't abuse anything you mentioned as survivor. But I still have to deal with bullcrap cheating from oni and especially blight. I hope they ban cheaters. Not gonna happen but I wish.
1 -
What is this sabo exploit? You can't hook while someone is saboing, common knowledge, you hit them instead. Problem solved. For someone that was "forced" in to it you sure thought it was funny.
0 -
They can't do anything. they get stuck in the actual animation for when they're about to hook the survivor. and that clip was also taken from my 24 hour stream. in which i was tired as hell and just felt dead inside,
0 -
I didn't know that existed. But still, don't claim you're doing it for the cause and laugh your ass off about it. Makes your whole point look stupid.
0 -
That was my first time doin' that mate, i already said sue me when i posted it. that bug has been in the game for a long time.. Still abusable, Just like how in Ormond you can walk over acouple pallets still despite the fact they patched it out,
0 -
"It's not an exploit because the other side has exploits too".
OP, March 2021.
6 -
You rarely see these two anyways.. imho and like i said, should stay in the game. to show the skill difference,
1 -
Dude you laughed your ass off about something I didn't even know about and I'm super experienced. Saying don't sue me about it doesn't give you justification.
0 -
"It's not an exploit because you rarely see it. And even if you do, it should stay in order to show my superior gaming skills in pressing a button to raise my DPI".
OP. Addendum, March 2021.
