Killer Idea: The Amalgamation
Lore:
Harrison Gray was once an operator for Germany's newest Nuclear Power Plant. He had always been fascinated with science and the properties of radiation. Letting his morbid curiosity get the better of him, he began sneaking small creatures like bugs and mice into the reactor chamber so he could study the effects of radiation on their bodies first-hand. He got away with almost all of them as he was aware of a blind spot on the camera in the reactor chamber that allowed him to hide his actions, however there was one time where he had been absorbed in his mind and accidentally showed himself placing a mouse in an enclosed box inside the reactor room. He was reprimanded by the site director and warned about the consequences of something like that happening again. After almost a year and having never been caught again he had done all the tests he had wanted on small animals. He started increasing the sizes of his subjects from squirrels all the way up to medium sized dogs. He would keep going on like this until finally he began getting urges to perform his own human radiation experiments. His morbid curiosity had grown out of control at this point and he would soon get his wish. The site director, the man who constantly harassed Harrison after the incident of getting caught and was in every way the biggest hinderance to his experiments was the perfect candidate. Only a week later the site director had gone missing and the next day as work hours began his horribly irradiated corpse was found gagged and tied to the reactor in the blind spot of the camera. People were quick to point out that the man had been with Gray only hours before he disappeared and soon Harrison found himself cornered in the control room of the facility with police knocking at every door. After trying and failing to come up with an escape plan, he tussled with his own self-preservation instinct and decided that if his life was going to end no matter what happened, then he was going to bring everyone else down with him instead. He disabled the safety features and cooling systems of the reactor before activating it and pushing every single fuel rod available in. Moments later a blinding blue flash emanated throughout the building followed by an immense explosion as the reactor went critical almost immediately. Everyone nearby the reactor was completely atomized from the magnitude of the blast, yet something was wrong... Harrison didn't feel the quick and instantaneous death he had envisioned but he did feel the impossibly terrible pain for only a split second before his nerves were completely torn apart. He stood for several moments where was even when the floor he was been standing on had been reduced to dust. The searing pain and burning of his somehow undying flesh lasted for what felt like hours, terribly irradiating and mutilating his body as he quickly turned to a blob of deformed flesh and horrendous mushy growths. It was only at that point that the reason for his survival decided to reveal itself as a thick black fog rolled in over the site of the detonation and silently whisked Harrison Gray away to a somewhere more fitting for his eternal resting place
Killer Appearance:
The Amalgamation is a large, irradiated mess of disgusting growths and mush-filled bags of burnt an destroyed flesh. It softly glows in a green-blue colour as every inch of it's body is very strongly radioactive. You can just about make out the general shape of a human though it's legs have partially merged together and have created one large bulbous and almost slug-like lower body while it's top half is coated in torn, pale green, leather-like skin and a head/face that one can only describe as melting. One arm has lost it's hand and is just a vomit-inducing charred bone jutting out of a seared and mutilated upper arm while the other can be described as melting flesh similarly to it's face. The Amalgamation attacks by bashing survivors with the end of it's bone arm.
Killer Stats:
--> Tall
--> 32m Terror Radius
--> 4.4m/s
Killer Power:
Ionize (Passive) - Whenever a survivor is inside of The Amalgamation's terror radius they will passively begin to accumulate Radiation Poisoning as seen on a bar visible only to the survivor team. After three minutes of total elapsed time inside the terror radius the bar will be filled entirely and that survivor will become Irradiated. Radiation Poisoning does not decrease over time when outside of the killer's terror radius or by any other method. When a survivor becomes irradiated an indication appears on that player's icon to all players in the form of a radiation warning symbol (a black circle and three triangles on a circular yellow background in the same vein as the dream icon for Freddy or the reverse beartrap timer for Pig). If the Amalgamation successfully downs a survivor who is Irradiated with a basic attack that survivor will release a large amount of radiation and every survivor within 8 meters will have their Radiation Poisoning bar instantly fill by 20% of the maximum.
Irradiate (Active, Special Attack) - For every Irradiated survivor on the map Irradiate will become stronger.
--> 0 Irradiated survivors: Charge for two seconds and then release at will, blasting a beam of radiation forward dealing a maximum of 10% Radiation Poisoning over a span of two seconds.
--> 1 Irradiated survivor: Charge for two seconds and then release at will, blasting a beam of radiation forward dealing a maximum of 15% Radiation Poisoning over a span of two seconds.
--> 2 Irradiated survivors: Charge for two seconds and then release at will, blasting a beam of radiation forward dealing a maximum of 15% Radiation Poisoning over a span of one second.
--> 3 Irradiated survivors: Charge for one second and then release at will, blasting a beam of radiation forward dealing a maximum of 15% Radiation Poisoning over a span of one second.
--> 4 Irradiated survivors: Irradiate becomes a new power, Detonate, activatable by the Special Ability Button.
(Irradiate cannot increase the Radiation Poisoning bar of survivors on the hook)
Detonate (Active, Special Ability) - Once all four survivors are Irradiated The Amalgamation gains access to Detonate in place of Irradiate. This is made clear by the green-blue glow surrounding it becoming much more vibrant, its terror radius increasing to 40m and all four survivor icons possessing the radiation symbol over them. Pressing the Special Ability Button slows the Amalgamation down to 50% for three seconds while it's vibrant glow becomes brighter and brighter along with it's body beginning to shake and then getting more and more violent. After the three seconds pass it will Detonate in a nuclear explosion that creates a mushroom cloud visible from everywhere on the map (rip indoor maps) and instantly puts any survivors within 16 meters into the dying state. During the six seconds following it cannot move as it's body recovers from the blast (this coincides with the cloud disappearing) and the auras of all survivors downed by the explosion are revealed to all players at all ranges for as long as they stay in the dying state due to the immense dose of radiation they received. This ability has a cooldown of one minute.
Killer Perks:
--> Radioactive
See the aura survivors after they are hit with a basic attack for 2/3/4 seconds.
--> Chain Reaction
For each unique survivor hooked, gain 1 token of Chain Reaction. Every token increases your movement speed by 1%.
--> Hex: Fallout
See the auras of all survivors within 8 meters of a Generator or Exit Gate
Author's Notes:
Thank you for reading through my killer idea! Recently I've been really interesting in radiation, how nuclear reactors work, etc. and got the idea for a killer in DBD based around. The central idea behind The Amalgamation is that it starts the match as a basic M1 killer and grows in power as the match goes on. It is supposed to be balanced so that an evenly matched killer and survivor group will end up with the killer getting access to Detonate around between 1 gen being left and the exit gates being powered. The design of the power is also set up to discourage tunneling, if you chase the same person off hook over and over till they die then you will never have the time to Irradiate any of the other survivors and you will never get access to Detonate. I also thought that the idea of a killer creating a nuclear detonation just sounded really cool, imagine you are on a gen in the corner of the map on Thompson House and then suddenly you hear a massive boom and then turn to see a huge mushroom cloud all the way on the other side of the map. When it comes to the perks I tried to make sure they would not create any negative or harmful effects. The first one is designed for newer killers who are not so familiar with high level techs and jukes, in particular those ones who hit a survivor but have a difficult time tracking them afterwards. The duration is purposely not long enough to give the killer free wall hacks for an entire chase, only just long enough to see where they are going. The second perk is designed to purposely encourage the killer to not tunnel a single person off hook and instead try to hook everyone thanks to the speed boost you get. The third perk is supposed to be an information hex that lets the killer know whenever the main survivor objectives are progressing. I don't want to be free wall hacks for the whole map, that's dumb and stupid. I think the current design where it only highlights generators or exit gates is good enough to warrant using it while not being so broken or overpowered that it is unfun or game breaking for survivors.
