The second iteration of 2v8 is now LIVE - find out more information here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/480-2v8-developer-update

to people who think spirit needs an indication to when she is phasing: CLICK HERE

now welcome, spirit has 2 indications that she is phasing 1 the glass shards on her skins light up quite obviously this can be covered by skins but do not fret there is another way to tell when Ms Spispi is phasing its called animations. When she enters phase her animations reset and her hands scrunch up this is easy to see

(i have 1.5k hours in the game and everything i have said has been researched and tested in game)

Ah yes, let me get RIGHT UP ON THE POSSIBLY PHASING SPIRIT to tell if her shards are slightly glowing

And the animation reset can also be avoided by using skins with short hair

JUST LOOK AT SHARDS AND BONKED BY THE SWORD.

This is why I run Spine Chill and Iron Will in almost every game. You can actually tell when Spirit is phasing with Spine Chill.

This basically, @Nazeef13 actually replied exactly as I wanted to reply

Also I don't think that people with ≈500 hours will find this as "counterplay". A more obvious counterplay should be implemented.

In my experience, the glass shards (nor the static on her body) doesn’t light up anymore.

You have to be in kissing distance of spirit to see her shards and animation changes are unintentionally

See if you look here at this video you can see Speed Limiter Bubba is op and needs a nerf

Now this statement sounds propersterous and yet I've still provided more evidence than you have in your post.

If you're going to claim you've researched it then at least provide said research my guy

Since these indications thus already exist, I suppose that you have nothing against the fact of radically improving these indications so that they are clearer and understandable quickly by any player.

Let's be real spirit is perfectly fine except the stand still mind game at an already unsafe loop. It's kinda stupid doing nothing is considered an outplay. Make the effects actually visible from a few metres away and perfect. Anyone else complaining doesn't try to counter or simply cant play at high level but have ended up their through the bad emblem system

Um...have you ever played survivor? Her hands scrunching up is only on killer side. Survivor doesn't see that. Honestly, that's the only tell I think she should have, though. If that animation was implemented survivor side, I think that would be enough. You could still use the stand still method, though. Just pop your power and immediately let go.

Just give survs an noticable indicator when she starts to phase. A scream, glowing up, whatever.

Because i'm annoyed of survs saying she has no counterplay when she does the "stand still on a pallet MIndGaMe".

any animation indication of her phasing is a bug that has been reintroduced cos it was fixed in an old patch quite a while ago

and honestly i believe the shards thing is a mistake too. As much bullshit as Spirit is, you're not meant to know shes phasing by design, cos every other killer has a tell that they're using their power through sounds or animations.

A cat with good headphones can 4k easily against solos using spirit.

We have perks that counter her. We have perks (or builds) that counter specific killers a lot of the time. Iron Will and Spine Chill are two of the most effective.

The thing you face is that not everyone uses those, or uses them in combination. I run Iron Will, but very rarely Spine Chill, for example. To top this off, with all of the complaints of the actual meta perks, and how strong survivors are, does The Spirit universally body survivors by BHVR's statistics? How are we going to balance such an inconsistent playing field?

you know how hse does the random phasing thing while just walking around? what if hse do that while phasing, durign the breif glimpses, she and you can see eachother, she can't contorl when it happens, and her husk stays where she popped in

Why do I need specific perks to actually be able to play against a killer

There's also several outfits that prevent this tactic in its entirety.

  • ukenicky

Spine Chill will allow you to tell if she's phasing or not as, the husk will not trigger Spine Chill if it's left behind looking at you.

Additionally, shining a flashlight on the husk if she's phasing will cause it to disappear.

Obviously survivors can't be expected to bring Spine Chill and or a flashlight every single match just to possibly counter Spirit but I do swear by Spine Chill as it helps with a lot of other killers and also can be utilized in a vault speed build.

The glass shard detail would be great if it was more noticeable but it's just.. Well not lol

Because some perks can negate survivor behaviour (like screaming, or breathing loudly and moaning, etc), and some killers rely on exploiting those survivor characteristics to their advantage, e.g. doctor relies on screams, and spirit relies on breathing, etc.

Quite frankly I don't understand why you even asked this question, unless it's your supposition that survivors are supposed to be able to counter every killer just by default. Like, seriously, who's in the power role with that kind of mentality??

  • Eninya
    Eninya Member Posts: 1,256

You don't. There's Calm Spirit against the Doctor and Clown. Urban Evasion against the Hag. Premonition against T1 Myers. Spine Chill against Pig/Deathslinger/Demogorgon.

These perks aren't universally used against those killers. Giving the Spirit a full tell on her phasing will inevitably lead to her being buffed, since she'll just become a slower version of Hillbilly, or even Blight. If her power becomes ineffective, she offers nothing as a killer.

  • Grandpa_Crack_Pipe
    Grandpa_Crack_Pipe Member Posts: 3,306

Survivors should have something they can actually do against every killer by default, based on their skill.

And survivors usually can because they have information to work with by default. Like.. noises. Huntress grunts while she hefts her hatchet up, it makes the gleam sound, and you can actually see her do it. Even nurse gives info. Spirit gives nothing. Anything you do against her while she's phasing, which you can't even be sure she is, is a pure guess. I shouldn't need perks to give me literally anything to work with against this 176% speed invisible killer who won't have trouble tracking me if she's actually good.

But no, I guess if you have any meaningful input in chases they're not the power role. Hello, old Legion.

Idk the same reason half the killers need ruin or corrupt

    To play without being destroyed

  • onemind
    onemind Member Posts: 3,089

Ahh yes nurse gives info but what are you going to do blinks to where she last saw you and blinks again and hit sounds like pretty good counter play to me

  • Grandpa_Crack_Pipe
    Grandpa_Crack_Pipe Member Posts: 3,306

At least you can actually see her. You can't juke or confuse her with tiles forever, but by god, if nothing else you can at least see her doing things.

Can someone help me with counterplays for Spirit? I do wanna know these guides on how to get better against her. I don't really know how spine chill helps me any better with her, knowing when she phases or not doesn't help me figure out how to be productive while she's prowling. Am I supposed to stay still and quiet? How do I do gens if she's always phasing?

Any other killer is easier to play against, because of spirit's tells during phasing. I know WHEN she phases, but not on HOW to go about doing objectives when she's busy phasing.

I had an idea for her that imo would be really cool and give an indication while still providing the potential to mindgame. While spirit is phasing every 2 seconds her husk phases and reappears at the spirits current position in phase. This means spirits can only phase without the survivor knowing for 2 seconds. It would also allow for mindgames using her husk to keep the survivors guessing while in phase. It would add interactivity to her. This would make her more fun to play as and against imo

    They can.

They can hide in lockers, around corners, within the terrain in some cases, etc. They can also vault windows, and drop pallets.

But you want more by default..??

Just give Spirit a global wail sound when phasing. That way there’s a tell for survivors in chase with her, and people on gens will know there’s a chance she could pop up behind them for the grab. Also it will sweeten the blow a little as a global sound can passively mind game random people all over the map.

I like playing against spirit it's actually a lot of fun. Don't really get what all the tears are about. Nvm I remembered, everyone wants the easiest games possible every game. Gotcha.
