DbD in the RE Engine

Been doing my annual Resident Evil replays and started REmakes 3 and 2 again. I was reminded how goshdang GORGEOUS the character models and environments look in them.

Then I played DbD where half the humans look like they're made of melting plastic.

And from that my pipe dream of DbD rendered in the RE Engine was born. Putting aside the change in physics and underlying mechanics, the characters would look stunning and their environments ooze with atmosphere. There's a greater chance of BHVR making that fabled DbD VN than Capcom letting them use their engine, but it's fun to imagine.

Resident Evil Resistance is probably the closest thing you can get.

Don't remind me. It could have been great, but Capcom completely shot that in the knees. Don't see much good coming from their weird battle royale game either.

DBD is on Unreal Engine 4, trust me when I say that the devs make it look cartoonish on purpose. If they really wanted to they could revert the lighting engine back to what it was in 2016/17 instead of the washed out mess it is now but they won't because of performance and balance concerns.
