Tiny but effective QoL Change

This isn't an original idea, many people have mentioned this before me so i am not taking credit. I've never seen a dev comment on the idea however.

The idea is to rework the obsession so that unrelated to the perks used in the trial, a survivor will always be marked as the killers obsession.

This is a great QoL change because it means killers can't get the 100% guarantee safe tunnel when theres no obsession anymore.

No obsession encourages killers to tunnel a survivor because they know there's no decisive strike, which is unhealthy for the game.

A very small but positive change which will start a guessing game between survivors and killers, guessing if survivors have ds, and guessing if the killer has STBFL, etc.

I would really like to hear the devs opinion on this, hope everyones having a good day thanks for reading :)

I think that speaks more to the power of Decisive than anything. If people alter their play that much, then something is wrong, either with the perk or what the perk fixes.

I forgot to state my opinion, oops. I really don't care either way. Nothing changes for me.

The only people who don’t want this are the people who tunnel no obsession lobbies

This. What other reason do people have to be against this idea? I’ve seen it before in Otz videos when he’s doing his 50 win streak and as soon as there’s no Obsession his chat are spamming to let him know. Wonder why that is? 🙊

The people that complain about DS are the same that hard tunnel survivors off the hook when there’s no Obsession. This community is filled with such bias.

    Agree with the first part.

    Disagree with the second.

I will hard tunnel Survivors off the hook to eat their DS early in the game, because DS is such a loosely restricted perk (on Live) that it is far more damaging for me to let them keep such a powerful perk in their arsenal. Plus, it let's me tunnel them out at my choosing later in the game, if I need to do so.

Well you’re not really disagreeing with the second part, you’re talking about something entirely different lol. You tunnel when there is an Obsession. A lot of killers will slug or ignore recently unhooked survivors when there’s an Obsession, out of fear of being hit with DS.

I don’t use DS, so I’m screwed either way, but I know I’m less likely to be tunnelled in a lobby with an Obsession. So that’s why it is a problem that should be addressed.

I just think it’s stupid that a killer basically gets a green light to tunnel from the start of the match. It’s not healthy at all.

I don't really see why it's a problem, but I understand that it isn't fun.

Sure, once theres an actual demerit to being the obsession. There are small enough debuffs possible regarding skillchecks, bloodlust accumulation or even rancormori basekit lol. Create new bloodpoint score events for interacting with the obsession.

Make it a relevant gameplay mechanic, not just some smokescreen to hide DS users.

"You now have claws around your icon and most killer obession perks need you alive" isnt really the drawback perk descriptions make it out to be, especially on DS.
