The Amanda's Letter add-on for The Pig has been Kill Switched due to an issue with incorrect RBT count.

Second hookstate should not be RSI simulator
Especially since it's possible for a bit of lag to swallow some input and kill you outright. Can't we change it to the same thing the cage of atonement has? Just periodic skill checks?

Yes please. The number of times I've died on hook because my thumb just seized up for a split second due to the repetitive button pressing is way too high.
Hell even if it came in the form of a perk, something like:
Removes ability to take 4%, and removes the button spamming mechanic from the 2nd stage. In exchange you get random skill checks, and hitting a great skill check (in either hook state) grants you your 4%.

I'm for changing the second stage hook to skill checks, but keep the 4%. Making a hook jump a skill check means hook escapes are guaranteed because skill checks are not that difficult, especially at higher levels

Well if it's a perk, it needs more going for it than just changing the button spam to skill checks, or no one will run it, it's not wroth sacrificing DS, BT, UB or DH for.
Maybe the great skill checks give you a 1% chance for unhooking yourself, for each other survivor you've unhooked, up to a max of 3%. Lets assume you get maybe 6 skill checks per hook state, and you make 4/6 great skill checks, that's exactly the same chance you currently have. The question is what's an expected number of great skill checks a survivor can make? is 4/6 or 2/3rds average? I wouldn't say so, so in order for that to balance out as a net gain, I'd say a minimum of 8 skill checks would be necessary.

Ah, ok, I didn't see the part about it being a perk. Maybe it being a skill check would work in that case then

I'm gonna kick this one back up again. A friend of mine has trouble with this thing where I think he's mashing too fast and it ends up misreading keystrokes and kills him. There's no reason not to change this to something better, like the aforementioned skill checks. It'd save us all a lot of sore wrists.

It'd help if the frequency was knowable and if you got a chance to experiment to figure out what works without risking screwing over the other survivors. But there's also an issue with the game's registration, because I have another friend who has latency issues that sometimes dies and I can hear him mash the button at the same pace I normally do. And I don't think I've ever had a surprise stab.
But aside from how finnicky it can be, it's also just bad for your wrist/keyboard. Buttonmashing went out of fashion for a reason, and I'd love to see the struggle phase redone in a way that's easier on the wrist and less latency sensitive.
