J flick is not a tech, but is in every way an exploit.
A “tech” can be done with the base game, window techs, dumb techs, moonwalks, inside tech ect
In order to j flick you have to deliberately change a bunch of settings in order to be able to do it, it cannot be normally done. you are giving yourself a competitive advantage that you should not normally have by base gameplay, It is an exploit in every way shape and form. It is exploiting the way blights code works allowing you to do moves you shouldn’t be able to do. that is an exploit, not a tech.

I agree, I also think stretched for survs is an exploit

If you use the line "you are giving yourself a competitive advantage that you would not normally have by base gameplay" then SWF using comms shouldn't be in the game either.
I'm not arguing that SWF should be removed or anything, just that this line of thinking is flawed.

Oh, I suggest you take this to the Bug section, or else the Streisand effect will lead to people abusing it.
3 -
the he’ll do you mean? swf literally is base gameplay...
9 -
But using Discord for coms is not. I diagree with their line of thinking since it's false equivalence but I can see that's what they're getting at.
16 -
There’s an official discord that was made by the dbd devs to go with swf. That may not be in the base game but it is still made by the dbd devs. comms is aloud.
10 -
agree. i hate stretch res.
3 -
Fair enough, but discord as a whole is still a third party app. Personally I think any swf talk or argument is just splitting hairs. If you're using comms with your buddies it's not inherently an advantage, I personally die more in swf and on comms than I ever have solo. But if you're adjusting settings or using gear that overrides a base code then yes it's an "exploit" or, in my opinion, just straight up cheating.

The thing is, there's one major difference between SWF on comms and Blight's flick:
One's been expressly approved and supported by the devs (SWF on comms), whilst one has been expressly confirmed as unintended and unsupported.
It's similar to the Pyramid Head exploit; unsupported, unintended, and expressly condemned:
(basically saying don't use exploits)

The game was not balanced around people with comms. That was my point. Your logic is flawed.
Additionally, the line between "tech" and exploit is very very thin. The tractor tech used to be considered an exploit, as did the window tech, as they are both unintended features.
Should Blight's turning when pausing the game be left in then? Since its in the base game, it should be fine, right?
By your logic Stretched Res should also go. As should adjusting your brightness to make the game far easier to see than was intended.
13 -
The most thing i see compared is it and stretched since stretched has been in the game for 2 years now and the devs have said its a exploit. But the blight flick is suddenly the one needing a major fix when at least it involves some skill unlike editing your res to see over like 90% of loops. Both honestly need to go though.
5 -
I feel there was something lost in translation, I wasn't defending the person that said swf was also an exploit, just saying why they might think that while simultaneously agreeing with the OP.
0 -
Stretched res needs a fix, 100%. It, too, is an exploit and it, too, has to go.
Too many people defend one but say the other is fine and that's pretty damn hypocritical. I agree with you completely.
I honestly just hit quote on the most recent comment about SWF blame this I'm running off of 3 hours of sleep, too much coffee, and pure anger at not having Michael's adept yet.
2 -
Hahaha, fair enough. I'm trying to grind the Escape 8 trials with no perks after completing a full gen state achievement so I feel ya.

I have never seen a J flicking blight, and from the tutorial video I watched it looks relatively difficult. YouTube montages only show the successful attempts and not the hundreds of failures.
I would literally bet money 99% of people complaining in this thread have not even gotten hit by a J tech.
12 -
Give me a break dude. If you have to screw with a bunch of crap on your computer to get an advantage, it's cheating. You won't get busted for it, but anyone who does it is a dirty cheater. Same thing with stretched res. It's sad to cheat at a rng noncompetitive party game. Swf on comms is not that. Not 99% of the time. The exception would be these try hard gen rush squads, which are unicorns. Its just as sad to take this game serious enough to actually come up with gen rushing strategies as it is to cheat hardware or software to gain an advantage. Swf on comms is 99% friends playing a game together. Yeah sometimes those people are dicks, but same thing with Killers. Doesn't make cheating okay.

Have you gotten Evil Incarnate yet? I honestly found that worse than his adept

I love how everyone gets so upset about the smallest exploits too; like the level of play everyone is at has to deal with that.
Most Blights I get are lucky to land a normal M1 hit let alone a 3000+ dpi spin 180 hit at a precise moment in time that it's advantageous to do so.
5 -
Again, I haven't said if I thought it was or was not cheating. I was merely pointing out that OP's logic was quite flawed and that former "exploits" were left in the game and are now considered techs.

Can’t killers use stretched res?
0 -
You could. Most people just use Shadowborn or M&A tho
0 -
I mean something like stretched all ya need to do is know how to actually edit the resolution which isnt rocket science. Then the advantages kinda automatic. Idk how many survivors use it but im in red so it could be pretty often but you can say its just "luck or prediction" thats the problem really.
0 -
i'm not even attempting that until the mmr changes
0 -
I did it a year or so back and I support that decision. It's awful.
0 -
I really hope they fix this pyramid head exploit
Had the displeasure of facing a few who exploited the hell out of it and it was not fun

You don't need any advanced programs to change your DPI to do the absurd curve with Blight. My normal DPI is 1400 and my in-game sense is at 75-80%. You just need to instantly move very FAST and attack to do the curve. I never used the macro or anything to change my sensibility mid-game.
The difference is that you can only make it with M&K, it's not an exploit, anyone on PC can do that, blame the devs for porting the game to the console poorly.

The only thing strong about SWF is the communication they have at all times, when it comes to looping you won't know what to expect from them.
0 -
I went into a KYF with a buddy to test it out and oh my word it's so unfair- it's legitimately one of the most op things I've ever had the midpleasure of seeing or facing
4 -
SWF sucks to play against, sure, but this argument is moot because anyone can access it through normal gameplay.

That video never said it wasn't allowed. It just said it wasn't intended. Never said it was an exploit or bannable or anything. Don't take things out of context.
0 -
Combine both statements with a small amount of actually thinking about things and you'll realise that the "unintended" thing is an exploit and then the second clip of "don't exploit".
For someone whose name is "AVoiceOfReason" you don't seem all to great at reading between the lines.
6 -
Because I don't like to put things out of context to fit my needs in a discussion. 2 completely different things.

evil incarnate is not difficult #########, my little sister got it on her first try just by throwing a match, with infinite and the mori addon
0 -
swf was always intended, chances are it was balanced around it (but not very well)
window techs have been patched
blights turning while pausing is a bug, not a exploit.
and yes i agree, stretch res is stupid and shouldn’t be a thing. survivor or killer, same with artificial brightening.
2 -
Who said that Stretch Resolution is something exclusive for Survivors? Nurses using Stretch to see Survivors while in fatigue is also a thing.
2 -
i was not aware of that! thank you, i thing thats an exploit 2 then, unless its shadowborn
1 -
Way to literally cut off the clip talking about the j flick where he says that, its not intended, they aren't doing anything about it ATM, but they are keeping an eye on it to see if it becomes a problem.
0 -
And nurse.
0 -
This is all true, however before hand they did not approve of the coms, and is the whole reason the game started without a swf option.
They just got to a point where they realized they can't do anything about it without upsetting people.
0 -
Window tech still exists tho.

I have a hard time understanding this discussion. We are talking about an action the devs have said was not intended, that gives an advantage, and that cannot & likely will never ever be even possible on console. Anything at all that fits that description imo shouldn't be in the game, for fairness sake if nothing else.
The consistent arguement for Crossplay being fine I always see is something like "we all are playing the same game, the differences are small & unimportant, etc." But are we? Sound settings this, video card that, resolution this & this, macro that, edit files these things over here. My self-respect won't allow me to go down this road, or ever feel any of this is ok.
Some will say it's all the devs' fault. Only to a point, they aren't reaching into your rig and changing a thing.
Others will point out just flick off Crossplay. Works to wall off the percieved unfairness but helps change nothing and further divides us all.
And to the notion "get a PC" costs aside remember there is no Cross Progression nor is it coming, so we are very much trapped. Very few with thousands of hours will rebuy everything and regrind from scratch.
I'm not naive enough to expect an abundance of fairness in an online multiplayer video game, but we are pretty far I think from that level playing field. Point at the devs all you want, but we are the ones actually pressing the buttons. Because we can doesn't mean we should.

There's plenty of much bigger issues with Console v PC than a J flick.
If they ignore the J flick and fix Console FPS then I'd let PC players keep "tech" they wanted.
1 -
I very much agree. But reading this thread got the thought train going, and I spilled out all at once what I've been thinking for some time now. I know I'll get flamed for doing so, just waiting.
To be honest I'm not sure they really know how to deal with console. They must have one kicking around somewhere to test with, but no way game after game gets played on it or they'd rage & uninstall! ;)
0 -
oh my god people talking about it is now more annoying than the exploit itself
2 -
real scott? is so, love you <3
0 -
I kinda agree. The amount of people actually using this probably doesn't deserve this much attention.
0 -
Oh, survivor's hypocrisy and classic "this is different" at its finest
0 -
it's not flawed. swf is a problem since it's release
0 -
Good for her, I'm proud of her!
I never play this killer and I'm used to being able to chase at 115% movement speed so do forgive me for not wanting to try a voluntary achievement until later

I didn't make that clip????
