Ps4 trickster recoil
Is it me or is that recoil horrible I don't know how it is for pc. I do know that I really hate it when playing on console.

Yeah, it's BAD. And all over the place, sometimes it moves left, sometimes it moves right. It's awful.
19 -
Did they play test it like holy moly It's bad
8 -
I don't even know why he has it in the first place.
Plague didn't have that so why does Trickster have to deal with this?
It makes him pretty much unplayable and i would rather play Plague,Huntress or Deathslinger and get WAY better amd easier games.

Funny thing is recoil is a mechanic used in shooter games to test your skill by out-damaging your opponent, by being able to control the recoil of a weapon. I think pretty soon we'll be hearing "The circle is closing, move to a new safe zone". It's gonna be pebbles vs knives.

During ptb I had said I was worried about how he'd play on console and someone commented it was rough with a controller. Console/controllers aren't taken into consideration at all with killers.
9 -
Yeah the recoil on Switch is a nightmare. It feels like the I'm moving all over the place.
Not to complain, but this should have been caught before the live release, especially as the PTB was only on PC. We can't manage the recoil as well as they can on PC.

The recoil is rough on console
5 -
Its not just the recoil it's the way the blades are thrown. Point blank blade throws can miss. He has 60 blades but even good players are burning through so many on 1 survivor. It's too much and everyone said it was too much on the ptb but here we are, if a survivor 360's in front of him most blades miss even if you're aiming right at them.

I just tried 5 matches with the Trickster. Holy cow the recoil is awful.....this wasnt play tested at all for controller and even Ohmwrecker himself mentioned it was wild on PC.
4 -
The recoil on PC is NOT that bad. If you play FPS games on the regular, this is nothing.
0 -
They don't play test for console. That should be obvious after the blight
9 -
You need to throw a lot in order for it to become precise.
1 -
Oh ffs.... how is this an issue ?! Hasn't the update been within 24 hours ??
Literally noone is happy with anything these days

Thank god more people are bringing this up. It feels HORRENDOUS. Like i have control on what is happening sometimes.
3 -
are you kidding? most guns in fps don't go all around the target like this does.
5 -
I'm a ps4 player, will give him a try later after work. Expecting to fail miserably 😅
1 -
glad I didn't ge this dlc I don't think I will pretty sad he looked fun.
2 -
Yeah recoil is pretty bad. I have a hard time landing hits bc they go left and right and up lol that's the survivors standing still at gens. Now add in them zig zagging and running around obstacles. Yeah forget it... oh and it regenerates so you lose all progress if you don't tunnel them down
2 -
No, I'm not kidding. WTH. I'm not saying most guns, I'm saying if you play FPS games, they most likely have an SMG that has recoil in it and you get used to it.
Same thing here. On PC, it's not a big issue for me. I aim with my mouse, watch for the drift, and react to it.
0 -
But recoil in those games are often controllable and predictable not jumping left and right while up
I'm not a knife thrower expert but you also dont naturally aim at the sky while rapidly throwing things
2 -
On PC with a mouse it's easy to adjust aim. When I've played FPS games on PC they've felt so natural. But on PS4 or any controller, aiming feels like hell. There are two options: adjust the sensitivity so that it's really low and small adjustments can be made while aiming but it really really really limits your reaction time when moving, or make it really high so that you have instant reactions when moving but trying to adjust your aim makes the camera swing wildly and your shots go all over the place.
Those are the options. It's why I am so often limited to being an M1 killer on PS4, which sucks. I even got one of those thumb stick adjustors to try to give me better aim control, and after a couple hours of using it the muscle/joint in my thumb was in pain for at least a week. It'd be really nice if this game were actually tested to be fun on console, but it's not. It runs without crashing every single time, and that seems to be enough to keep it greenlit.
(If this comes across as hostile, I apologize. I'm not being hostile towards you. I am just reeeaaally tired of feeling shafted by this game for being dumb enough to play it on console.)

I don't know what kind of food poisoning you've had but I can assure you that vomit is not supposed to cause recoil. Even after Taco Bell.
0 -
Just look at console Blight, basically a shell of his PC counterpart.
4 -
Well considering that he had 3 weeks to be adjusted and in that time they somehow nerfed his best addon and only gave him quality of life changes ohh and added a cooldown to his poweraftwr main event
3 -
The cooldown after Main Event is so stupid imagine that on killers like Myers or Plague
4 -
I mean, throwing knives shouldn't cause that much recoil either 🤷♂️
3 -
Well you're putting your whole arm into it so it probably should. Definitely more than an ipecac drinking contest.
0 -
No, it's not hostile- that's your reality and I'm cool with anyone's opinion. I've never been a fan of crossplay here simply because M+K controls are more precise giving us PC players an advantage which probably even trickles down to how fun the game can be because we're not limited like console players.
I hear what you're saying, but I was responding because the OP said he didn't know how the recoil was on PC and I gave my 2 cents. I'm not arguing that the recoil is not bad on console.
2 -
Killers in this game are supposed to be something supernatural so i could see it getting removed.
0 -
Well I think the in-game reason for recoil was to prevent a lack of line of sight from being a death sentence. They overdid it, undeniably, but it's still a well-deserved concept.
0 -
But we already have killers like that (e.g Nurse and Deathslinger)
1 -
Well Deathslinger and Nurse are definitely harder, because they have one (or two) shots to be spot on the survivor. You have to be good at sniping, hence why they're rated "hard." Trickster is more like seeing the survivor and start shooting, hence why he's rated "easy."

When I play other console games with long-range weapons, I'm able to learn, adapt, get better. In DbD, no matter how much time I sink into Huntress, I do not get better. DbD's controls on console are extremely punishing: it seems impossible to adjust the sensitivity so that I can have any chance at hitting a 360'ing survivor with my M1 attack while also being able to make small adjustments when aiming with a hatchet while also being able to track a sprinting, weaving survivor with a hatchet. There is no doing it. Even the hatchets' beachball-size hitboxes don't help. And now Trickster with his pinpoint aim requires 8 hits for an injury plus he has recoil? Why don't they just release two separate killers every chapter, one for console and one for PC? Or they could cancel the game on console and give us back our money. But the game's current state is frustrating as hell. A new chapter comes out and not only does console not get the optimization it needs, but it doesn't get a decently playable killer, either. Why did they bother releasing this on platforms that don't have a M+K if they won't make the necessary adjustments? The killers people love on PC like Blight and Oni and Nurse and Huntress feel like ass on console, and the devs shouldn't be okay with that.
Ah, I understand. :) I'll take most any opening to point out this game's problems on console; it's pretty much always more directed at the devs than the person I'm responding to. And you're right, it does trickle down to how fun the game can be.
If they came out with cross-progression between PC and PlayStation, I'd try switching in a heartbeat. But without cross-progression, it's either play on PS4 or uninstall. I'm not starting from scratch.
5 -
Glad I'm not the only one who feels this. The recoil needs to be removed or minimized considerably to make it playable for console. Unless the survivor is out in the open I am better off just going for a basic attack.
2 -
What's this trickster everyone is going on about? I only know of the joke. (Seriously though, he's literally no threat without top add ons.)
2 -
What makes it bad is that it is random. There are some limitations on a controller in like rb6 siege compared to a m&k, but at least all players get use to the different recoil patterns with each gun. This budget jokers spray pattern and recoil have no rhyme or reason. I can’t even see a mouse making all that much better.
1 -
Tuning down the recoil and spread would be a much easier solution, so that's the one they'll go with IF they listen to feedback. Then they can move on to making ricochet base kit to make him more interesting and not letting Main Even expire for no good reason.
1 -
DbD is not an FPS. It requires extreme precision to play around maze tiles as any ranged killer.
2 -
DBD acts as an FPS when it takes an aspect of FPS gameplay, like recoil from using an auto fire weapon.
When I say that if you play FPS games regularly, then this is nothing-- I'm coming from that angle. I'm not saying that DBD is an FPS.
C'mon man, did I really need to say that?

Just like throwing knives

Why are you quoting me when I'm not even talking about the game design for Trickster's power? Talk to Almo for that.
I said "If you play FPS games on the regular, this is nothing." Meaning, his recoil is something a FPS gamer can adjust to without much problem. And again, let me say I'm saying this from a PC perspective, so if you have problems because you're on console, then ok-- that's what the OP was saying. I was giving my input as a PC player.

You're still completely missing the point - you have to be insanely precise with your ranged attacks in DbD. As in consistently hitting a bullseye. This is a game designed around precision in all aspects, where a 5% movement speed difference is a game-changer. It is a game where if you're amazingly good you can just tag someone as they're going around a corner.
With that in mind, recoil makes zero sense. This is DbD, not an FPS wher eyiu and whatever your opponent is will be actively attempting to shoot each other. This is a game where a slight amount of artificial innaccuracy and recoil turns a high-skill killer into a steaming mess that cannot play a single high-wall tile.

Naaah the recoil's bad and has no place in DbD. It's also the most unintuitive recoil I've ever seen. Usually it goes in a straight pattern everytime like the AK in CSGO goes up and then to the right and left. With Trickster? After every knife throw it goes either slightly up and to the right, or slightly up and to the left. It's COMPLETELY random and shouldn't even be in DbD in the first place. Combine that with the knife hands alternating and it's the least fun and one of the dumbest range attacks I've ever seen implemented in a video game. If it was just a single direction I'd be fine with it, but it isn't.

I'm not missing the point because I'm not arguing for it. What? Brother, don't do that with me.
Did you even read the original post?
And.. I really have to lay out what I meant by my comment? Ok, please read:
- My first response in this thread was to give my input as a PC player because of how the OP worded his post.
- I play FPS games and am used to recoil.
- I do not have a problem with recoil on Trickster's power because it is a mechanic I am familiar with.
- The problems I have with the design of this killer ARE NOT recoil-related.
- I am not saying recoil should be in this game-- but at the same time it does not bother me.
- Come on.
0 -
Yep, once again missing the point.
You said recoil is fine. His recoil not bothering you is like saying you aren't bothered when you get aim assisted into a wall. It is the sole reason Trickster cannot use his power in maze tiles, buildings, or anything with a wall. You cannot simply "adjust," you cannot simply "get used to it," it is a hard cap on what is actually feasable as Trickster.
You tried to say the recoil was "not that bad." It is. You can say you aren't bothered by it all you want, but that's tantamount to saying you're fine with not being able to use your power. Skill and practice do not and cannot overcome RNG. This is not an FPS where you can "just get used to it" and do fine by clustering your shots because you cannot cluster your shots when it matters.
And if we're going to be condescending, at least have the decency to call me "sister."
0 -
Neither should throwing knives lol
0 -
I called you brother because I was being polite. You consider it condescending, but I don't know how else to get my point across to you than to break it down to basics because you really like putting words in my mouth.
I'm not getting into talk about game design on this subject. Read the original post- It's a simple question. Read my response- It's a simple answer from my perspective, and you want to make something more of it. "You can say you aren't bothered by it all you want, but that's tantamount to saying you're fine with not being able to use your power." Yes, that's exactly what I want you to get from what I said. Jesus.
