I never had many problems with the struggle mechanic, but overall I think it is a good change.

As a veteran player, I am fine with this.
This will disproportionately affect new players that struggle with skill checks though.
Not sure how it would work with "giving up" (Ex: For last survivor to get hatch, etc.).

Because people also play the games with controllers...there are console users after all, and also a lot of people play on PC with a controller for accessibility issues.

Only took them almost 5 years and almost one year after Pyramid Head shipped with this only for people to say make it for all struggling.
But... yay... BHVR was super slow to add something to the game everyone was asking for again...

A lot of new players struggle with the current struggle mechanics and sometimes unintentionally die on 2nd hook. This at least doesn't instant punish them.
Also this should reduce hook suicides as it's no longer instant.

I wouldn't mind this change because there have been a few times where I accidentally died struggling. Maybe I was mashing spacebar too fast?

BHVR on twitter confirmed it's exactly like PH's cages where missing a skillcheck reduces the bar a little bit. No longer instant deaths on 2nd hook.

They've said that missing a skill check won't equal instant death, it just takes a chunk out of the progress bar.
Is there any word on this @MandyTalk ? I know there's situations where suiciding can be beneficial to other players. Will we be stuck on the hook waiting for skill checks or can we force the progress faster?

Pretty sure you won't be able to speed up the process other than failing the skill checks

My boyfriend just started playing and he struggles with PH Cage Skillchecks.
Seems funny to people with lots of hours, but skill-checks can be tough for new players.
preventing suicide or at least delaying it on hook is fine by me.

I think that it's similar to cage mechanic.
If you're failing skillcheck, the progress of struggling will be reduced.

But what if I want to kill myself? I like this idea but I would like instant death too.

With instant death survivors were absuing it to get around the d/c penalty. So if you really must get out the trail earlier, just d/c and eat the penalty.

Perks don't work on PH cages so they won't work with hooks.
Plus most perks already specify healing and generator skillchecks
