If Killer is easier than it's ever been, why aren't people playing them?

If you get bbq first i completely disagree. Your bp gain as killer outweighs survivour so much that youll be faster in getting what you want.
0 -
Well, I personally don't play killer much because I find it extremely boring. And yes, easy against 99% of survs. Especially if you play killers for braindead people like Spirit or Freddy that basically carry themselves.
0 -
If you don't play killer much, you derank and go up against newbies. It's no wonder you find it boring and win easily.
5 -
WGLF exists, you know?
5 -
That's some flawless logic!
... No.
I reached red rank every season until the last couple ones, and nothing has changed substantially. So yes, I get bored both against newbies and against "not newbies", because red ranks are still newbies. Maybe if you played the game more you would know this.

4 wglf stacks is way harder to get than 4 bbq stacks.
Baseline you get more bp and easier stacks for more consitent double bp.
What was your point?
0 -
4 WGLF stacks are WAAAAAY easier to get than 4 BBQ stacks. You can get 3 stacks with a single unhook.
Try that with killer.
7 -
there is no queue problem ,it depends on the time of day for some reason, during the day survivor queues are nigh instand but during the evening they take forever but killer queues then go really fast.
1 -
I wonder what people are doing during the day, that prevents them from playing...
8 -
Easier doesn't mean easy, as others have said. Killer is still the worse of the 2 groups usually unless you're playing Nurse, Spirit, Hag, and Freddy.
Is it better? Yeah? Is it good? imo no.
Survivor has had long que times since I started the game, I doubt that's gonna change anytime soon with the way balance is going where Trickster was deemed fine for release and we get maps like "The Game" that was supposed to be an improvement.
0 -
Because Killer is not fun.
I'd rather M1 a generator than chase a Survivor just to have to kick pallet after pallet after pallet.
2 -
I'd put it down to 2 reasons.
1 - Too stressful - it's the easiest it's ever been but still is quite stressful.
2 - People just want to play with their mates.
3 -
Did you even bother to read before you left an unintelligent remark?
1 -
That is an called either/or reasoning or rather a false dilemma. It is a fallacious argument which limits choice to only two options which can easily be refuted.
I play this game to have fun and I also win... so no your statement is not an absolute truth, but more a fallacy.
1 -
Did you?
5 -
yes I did, hence my remark....come on man.

Having a job pretty much prevents from playing during the day...
This is why there is more survivors at evening. They have time to play. At daytime there is more killers because playing killer is more fun than solo survivor.
1 -
People work during the day. Thats why survivors compete with way less survivors during the day, but get long queues once people come home from work. Thats the only reason why survivors have shorter queues during the morning. Which means, that it isn´t a problem that can be solved by just not going to work and playing during the day.
3 -
Exactly!
0 -
But equaly people compete with way less killers during the day, yet killer queues are very long during the day and survivor queues are super fast.
Later, in the evening its also those killers who come home from work and yet killer queues are really fast .
On the one and you say more players play survivor, but on the other that is also needed because for every 1 killer player, you need 4 survivor players.
0 -
The sad part about that is: That's a good thing. Now imagine, every survivor could loop properly. Killers would just throw in the towel and play survivor instead, because, it's allready hard sometimes to play against the clock.
2 -
Killers have a queue of 2 or 3 minutes during the day and 5 to 20 second queue in the evening/night.
Survivors have a 5 to 30 second queue during the day and 5-10 minute queues in the evening/night.
Which means, there are far more survivors than killers matching up for the game. Far more than the desired 4 to 1 ratio. Even the devs admitted it.
3 -
Basically this.
Fun in this game goes 1)SWF 2)Killer 3)SoloQ
1 -
DBD is a multiplayer game and many people want to play multiplayer games with their friends, which they cannot do as killer.
please introduce a kill with friends mode, I wanna see myers team up with ghostface before murdering him when hes finished.

That's subjective, what's fun to one person isn't what to another.
However, I believe the chances of you winning is dependent on who you're playing, such as Nurse you'll almost always win unless keys are involved, but you'll usually lose if playing as the clown. This is also dependent on the survivors as well.
If winning is your only means of having fun, you won't have a lot of it during high ranks, especially if you're playing a weak killer. Just got to learn to set goals.
0 -
SWF is very stressful to play against and not fun.
it needs to be balanced already
3 -
Solo survivor is very frustrating to play as and not fun.
It needs to be balanced already.
3 -
maybe because people wanna play with friends and have fun?
who ever says killer is hard with the potatoes you get is just.. i guess not really experienced?
every killer player who has a little bit of experience will win nearly every game, like i do.
0 -
You can’t really balance that.
0 -
Enjoy 30m lobby waiting time then
1 -
ok

You would be wrong. Not because BBQ doesn't drastically speed up your BP gains, but because a strong meta build or near meta build for Killer does NOT require only BP. Spirit with BBQ, Stridor, Pop/Ruin, Corrupt/Undying requires 500 Auric Cells, and 27k Iridescent Shards unless you get stupid lucky with the Shrine of Secrets which can push it down to 13k shards. Can you replace any of those perks with free ones? No! Why? Because the set of perks you can acquire as a Killer for only BP is pathetic.
Heck, your "solution" alone requires either 500 Auric Cells and a chunk of BP or 2k shards and the Shrine to play along. Meanwhile WGLF has always been free from David and it got a massive buff so it is a good perk even without the BP gains part.

I'm not sure we can correctly conclude that killer players are "jumping ship". My rotation allows me to play DBD at different times through out the day. Killer queues are definitely faster at night than survivor queues. But it is the opposite in the morning. I'm playing right now and my survivor wait times are less than a minute while my killer wait times are more than 3.
Also, before cross-platform queues were implemented, I remember the only platform that consistently claimed fast queue times for killer was PS4. PC and Xbox didn't really start getting fast killer queues until after cross-platform. I think PS4 had such a large survivor base because that is where all the Ochido fans went when he "chose" to go to PS4. And Steam charts seem to show the player base isn't any less than a couple years ago so I am guessing the other platforms are holding too.
Basically though, anything I or anyone else says about the number of killer players from 2 years ago compared to today is entirely speculative. The only people that could tell us for sure is BHVR.
1 -
I used to be killer main, a few thousand hours ago and yes, It was really hard to play with killers, now is a lot easier than 2016-2019.
But the frustration and stress feelings didn't change at all. Is like to eat trucks of negative emotions every time you face BullySquads o just Genrushers premades, and IMO, is not worth It.
Games are for having fun, and get bullied by 4 toxic and brainless players is not fun
Then, the same players Who bully others, come here to forum and complain about survivors long queues, due to the lack of Killers who takes a break or just leave the Game.
1 -
So here is two cents from a nobody with way to many hours and $$$ in this game who mostly plays killer
Killer is way easier then it ever used to be, but thats because people are comparing it to a time when hooks stayed broken, infinite windows, the inability to kick gens, old perks like OG DS and BT. They have changed and added a lot of features to make killer lives easier, however during those changes killers started get "entitled" for lack of a better word and think the deserve to 4k every game. And if this game was a match against bots, I would agree with them. But instead its a game that is played against 4 other people who most likely got of work and wanted to have some fun.
Now I honestly believe the game would have a healthier mindset if killers would aim for a tie of 2k and 2 escape and count anything over that as a win. However, most people I've met who play killer count anything less then a 4k as a loss. And if they don't get it, they get mad because they have this mindset that they are the "big bad scary" killer and they should get a 4k every game. So a lot of killers who are not getting that power role sensation filled, they leave...

You need to replace the thermal paste before it cooks its self. Just follow a guide on youtube and it will be easy.
I changed mine and it is quiet as well as the frames improving a little.

Got a big brain massive fix for increasing the number of killer players. Make the chat system an opt in. By default mute chat for every person who plays killer. Its seems so stupid but in my time asking any survivor player why they don't play killer it usually a mix of stress and harassment. Muting the chat by default means players don't have to put up with it. Also stop making weak terrible killers. Going from twins to trickster has left us with no new meaningful content. I have no incentive to play those killers there so underwhelming and just awful to play.

That some mental gymnastics right there friend. I'm pretty sure a killer doesn't care if they lose they just want some respect. Losing is fine some mechanics might be infuriating to deal with and piss killers off yes same goes for survivors. But at the end screen you don't have 4 arrogant capital g gamers rubbing it in and dropping god damn racial slurs because the report system is so archaic they can get away with it. "Entitled" sorry what the hell is this nonsense. Go on ask a friend why they don't play killer I guarantee you they will cite that the role is stressful and a good portion of that stress is those sore winners being arrogant and rude rubbing it in that they whupped your friends ass. But other games have this issue of rude jackasses too, well yes but it isn't 4 people berating 1 player that entire chat system needs to be opt in by default. in most other non dbd games your playing with friends or its just one person vs you even then many avoid post game chat altogether instead of 4 v 1 . But he tunneled me so I get to call him a racial slur, a homophobic remark, well then your problem isn't with the player its with the damn game mechanics. I'm so sick of this community. The writing on the damn wall and you can't see the issue your inventing bogeymen or ridiculous conspiracy theories for why the killer role has queue issues.
3 -
Getting leatherface and grinding him for bbq is the requirement. Its either buy the dlc or farm the shards for a little bit neither one takes that long lol.
0 -
4 hooks is quaranteed for you pretty much every match as a passive effect and going for saves every time usually is not very productive if you want to win aswell. You need to focus on altruism and if your teammates already do that you should just be the gen jockey.
Bbq is pretty much passive effect wglf has conditions if you want to win.
0 -
4 hooks are not guaranteed. Someone disconnects or you get gen rushed and you get 2 or 3 stacks of BBQ. Thats not the problem with WGLF.
1 -
I didn't infer that I was chasing them for 2 minutes. It can take 30 seconds to a minute at the start to find your first survivor while you patrol gens (depending on how lucky you are). Then it can take another 10-20 seconds to land a first hit. My point is that with survivors focused on gens, 120 seconds into a match you may be already down 3. No hook in the first two minutes = loser in red ranks.
1 -
Did you just conveniently forget that Bubba is a licensed killer? Aka can only be gotten with Auric Cells or purchasing the DLC? Outside of insane luck with the Shrine, you ain't getting BBQ and Chili without paying additional real money. Brand new players aren't going to pony up more irl money before they know if they like the game and they're going to hit that massive difficulty spike I was talking about before then.
Your solution is not valid.
That also still ignores the fact that a brand new Killer would need to scrape together 13k Iri Shards if they're stupidly lucky and 27k if they aren't. Survivors don't need any Iri Shards to get really solid builds. Just BP. And their BP generation perk is free.
These are just straight up the facts. It is way easier to get a nearly meta build as Survivor than it is Killer. I really don't understand why you are trying to claim otherwise.

Honestly I am a bit burnt out and I ran out of scratched mirrors. I am enjorying playing survivor now though. I might be ######### but whenever matchmaking is nice to me and gies me decent teammates and decent killer its really fun.
0 -
If having a relaxing and fun time in either role is depressing, then color me sad :(
1 -
Because it's stressful.
SWF with voice comm, insanely fast gen speed, god pallets, garbage maps like Lampkin Lane, constat consumption of very rare add-ons to win, weak killers like Trickstar etc...
Seriously, devs need to do something to make killers fun to play, and more rewarding for challenges they got.
Otherwise this will just get worse and worse.
Less killers, more wait time, more imbalanced matches.
2 -
If you chased the same Survivor for a minute or two, you made a critical mistake. You chased them because they wanted you to chase them, while the others started three gens. No more than 15 seconds, 20 max, and don't let them lock you into a loop. Try to work them into a corner too, if you can.

Please learn how to use the enter key... For every ones sake.
Starting off, no one playing a video game owe's you respect. They honestly don't owe you anything. Now as you your point about people ######### talking in end game chat... That might just be their playstyle. I can play this game for 6 to 8 hours straight and get maybe 2-3 games where people ######### talk in end game chat. So maybe a lot of these killers who are bitching about this ######### are taking 2-3 games out of maybe 20. A Drop in the bucket.
Secondly, BHVR is trying to do something about their archaic report/chat system. In true BHVR fashion they way over corrected. So now you can't even say some killer/survivor names, social media sites and a ton of over things. Now to be clear, probably about 80% percent of the time when a survivor called me out for playing like a ######### in end game chat, I was playing like a #########. But in your defense, there have been more then enough games where someone called me out for something I didn't do, or was just being plain racist...
Lastly for this point... You can legit hide the chat and never see anything anyone says. It even stays like that once you reboot the game. So excluding racism, sexists, and homophobic remarks which should never be used, you also would have to see people calling you out for playing like an #########.
Ummmm... I play killer... Mostly killer.... Probably about 2.2 - 2.5k hours worth of killer at this point. Been doing it for so many damn years. I don't need to ask them if the role is stressful. You are optional choosing to play chess 1v4... You would have to be stupid to think it would be the less stressful role. Yeah I get plenty of sore losers from survivors side. But you know what, besides when they are being racist, sexist or homophobic, I don't care what they have to say. ITS A GAME. People are going to get upset on both sides. And once again, you can hide chat permanently, just click the icon.
Now if you read my post before getting so freaking upset over it. I even said
"entitled" for lack of a better word
Because yes I can I agree that entitled is a strong word for this case, but currently didn't have a better word in mind. Most killers I talk to don't count anything less then a 4k as a win. And they will run such boring ass builds or playstyles to accomplish that task. And before anyone says anything, yes there are Survivor builds that are just as boring, but the topic was related to killer. This game is 1 vs 4 bots. Its 1 v 4. There are four other people you are playing this game with, that you have no idea what their day, week or life is like. They could have just gotten fired from their job and wanted to play a game and their first match is a Pop, Stridor Spirit that tunnels everyone off hook. In my opinion if you play pop stridor spirit, you're a boosted ######### and nothing anyone says is going to change my opinion of that. There are just unfun killer builds and playstyles to play against.
Once again, the chat can be hidden, and I don't condone anyone using the chat system to be racist, sexists or homophobic.

Idk what you mean I get games plenty fast unless I’m trying to play late at night and I basically only play survivor. In the daytime finding a survivor match is much faster for me than killer.
1 -
Rank plays a large role in this.
I won't assume your rank, but I am speaking strictly for upper Purple/Red ranks where waiting for a Killer in the evening is a 10 min minimum wait.
Daytime survivor is easier to find a match because there are less survivors playing (working, errands, etc.) So it will throw a group together faster. This is true across all ranks.
