New Survivor Concept
Survivor: Luke Dodgson
Backstory:
Born in a small town near Washington D.C., Luke Dodgson had lost his parents in a car accident when he was just a kid. After this terrible event he was raised by his uncle on his farm near a small town in Illinois. After graduating Luke decided to enlist in the army. Being a soldier gave Luke a new purpose, to defend his home and his brothers in arms. Him and his squad quickly became inseparable. Clearing every mission without casualties, their bond became unbreakable. They became brothers…with one of them even more.
He met Ian on his seconds mission as a replacement to an injured squadmate. Looking into his eyes for the first time a spark was lit. He did not know what, but he saw it in Ian’s eyes too. However, they kept their feelings to themselves staying in a fog of uncertainty. Until their darkest day.
It started like a casual rescue mission. Go in, eliminate all hostiles, and extract the hostage. The mission went to south real fast. Soon they found themselves with 2 men down, Ian injured and enemies swarming their position. Luke knew what he had to do. He looked at Ian and gave him a nod. Without words he understood everything. Luke strapped Ian to Cooper’s back and told him to run for it as soon as he sees a window. Luke turned around and disappeared into the night.
Ian woke up in the medic tent. A dreadful silence set upon him. It felt like forever when finally, the riled-up shouts of Cooper broke it like thunder in the night. He ran out of the tent seeing a figure approaching the camp. Dirty, bloody, and barely walking Dodgson marched into the camp with the unconscious body of their squad leader dragging behind him.
Leaving the army, they have settled down, with some help from Uncle Frank, they opened a hunting goods store starting to plan their future together. During a not so busy day a stranger wandered into the shop offering Luke “insurance” and “small business protection”. Knowing the true meaning of his words Luke ordered the man out of the store. With a smile that froze the blood in his veins the man slowly walked out carefully checking every inch of the building. Uncle Frank visited them that evening as he needed help with some repairs. Ian told them to go ahead while he went to the shop for his toolbox he left there.
Frank and Luke waited for him on the farm for about an hour. Worried they rushed to the store. Luke entered to see it completely wrecked. Windows broken, cabinets smashed, goods stolen. He walked into the back room horrified to find Ian’s body bled out against to floor. Frank tried to comfort his nephew, he told him that the police will find the ones responsible, bring them to justice. But Luke already knew, the bastard who threatened him, it was his doing.
After the fourth sleepless night Luke left a goodbye note to his uncle and drove to the shop. He took out a rifle, rope, chains, duct tape, and a hunting knife and set the place ablaze making sure to leave a couple of his teeth inside. Remembering the stranger’s license plate, he tracked him down. The bastard screamed for hours giving out every bit of information about his “insurance company”. The following weeks made headlines in local and state-wide newspapers. Arson and murder turned the little town upside down. Every single one of the people responsible were dealt with. Crying, Luke slid down against a brick wall, police sirens breaking the silence in the distance. “What will he do?”, “Where will he go now?”, millions of questions raced through his mind as he noticed a strange black fog circling around him. The sirens went silent as he found himself in a forest. He did not know how but he knew what. He found a new purpose, just like the old days.
