Yeah well so are SwFs and broken gen repair speeds.
I'm convinced the devs aren't killer or survivor sided. Just really, reeeeeally bad at game balance.

typical killer main spam post 😴

As a survivor main I don't really understand the boring argument for spirt. It's not really a way I would describe her gameplay.
to me she is intense and a bit frustrated, but boring? I don't think so.
11 -
It’s boring in the sense of this.
When you are at a pallet it is a complete coin toss
28 -
I like killers I’m able to react to. Thatk’s why I like every other killer
18 -
Idk macro hag pretty terrifying. (The hags that have their key spamming tp then right when they tp they instantly smack). And personally i find it to react to someone like trapper in chase since if its a smart trapper and he pushes me into a hard trapped area.
1 -
Ok. Both are boring. Both are complained about often
5 -
I for one enjoy facing spirit. Stridor is pretty annoying but I'd take spirit any day over hag or trapper, those I far more annoying to play against for me.
1 -
'Boring' in this community usually translates to (if uttered by survivors)
'I know there's a big roster of killers all with more or less unique albeit similar abilities that all require different forms of play. But I don't want to play different no matter whether I am facing Doctor, Bubba, Huntress or Pig. I demand that I can win in less than 3 minutes by genrushing and looping and juking the killer. I demand the game caters to my ego and makes sure I will feel superior to the person playing killer, without showing any understanding of the mechanics. Therefore any mechanic or behavior that forces me to do more than click a single button is bad and ought to be removed'
And if uttered by killers
'I understand this game is extremely simple in its mechanics and objectives, which really ought to change for the better, but in the meantime I demand the game let's me win a match in less than 3 minutes by slugging, camping and tunneling, and generally abusing perk/power combinations the devs likely overlooked/ignored which give me an unfair advantage. I don't want to actually learn the killer i am playing or show basic human respect to the survivor players, I just want to feel superior to them. Therefore any mechanic or behavior that forces me to do more than click a single button is bad and ought to be removed'
6 -
While this is true, it doesn´t make him wrong.
3 -
Hag is the only one I’d agree with but certain maps can make her traps easier to see. Trapper’s traps are fairly easy to see and you can find them before hand
0 -
The only time I think Spirits are boring are the lazy ones who don't patrol gens and just camp hooks from a distance and tunnel them the second someone unhooks. Unfortunately, many of them do this and it gets tiring.
2 -
I mean... I say she's boring because I can get the exact same result in a chase everytime just by standing still.
1 -
Spirit is fine, you know what isn't fine, versing a good spirit with brain dead survivors. Honestly if this games rank mattered then bring on spirits and buff the other killers, but as it stands most team mate I get cant touch a gen at rank 1 so every killer gets easy wins. Survivors are the reason balance if #########.
2 -
If the outcome is predetermined and/or you have no real input, then it's boring. And going against Spirit often has the exact same predetermined outcome, both in the endgame screen and in a chase.
The only exception to this is when it's a spirit going against exactly the kind of players the OP is complaining about, yet in those situations it's culturally acceptable to BM and harass the spirit. For reasons.
5 -
I personally find her boring to play against. It feels like every game is the same when it's vs Spirit. Perhaps I just don't know how to counter her.
0 -
That was me when I first started playing the game on switch 😭😭😭 which is funny, because I REFUSED to face camp, but still immediately phase walked back to the hook LMAOOOO
1 -
Quit acting like this is a 1-sided thing. Both have issues that need to be addressed.
1 -
Don't feel bad, back when I first tried out killer, I thought I was smart by camping the basement as an invisible Wraith. I was thinking to myself "stupid survivors gonna regret coming for the rescue". To make matters even more pathetic, I used to run Insidious on Wraith too. I was so bad 😭
1 -
Spirit is not fine, her power is too one sided leaving no real counterplay for survivors, and this makes for some really unfun gameplay.
4 -
LOOOOL, early killer days are so funny to remember. The funny part about your thing is that I KNOW you probably had games where nobody even came for the basement save, since some low ranked survivors don't even understand how they get into the basement, or if they do, they are NOT planning on going on down there LMAO
Insidious on Wraith though... 😭😭 LMAOO

Idk, if I'm able to react to something I get bored. It just gets predictable and takes away any excitement from the game.

Most people who play this game will say the top 3 dogs are, Nurse, Spirit and Billy. However most people complain about Spirit and not the other two. In my OPINION, its because I have indicators for what Nurse and Billy are doing that allow me to REACT to what the killer is doing. This means when I lose a chase to this killer, I don't feel like it was luck, They either outplayed me, or I screwed up.
- Nurse makes both a noise and plays an animation to display that she is about to blink.
- Billy makes a noise and plays an animation when he revs up his chainsaw.
- Spirit Stands still when she is and isn't phasing. There is no indication she is using her power, its a toss up if I should vault the pallet, run away from the loop, or stand still. I as the survivor have no way to outplay that, its literally lucky guessing.
I've rarely had anyone ever complain to me about spirit after my games, but I don't run stridor or pop and I never fake phase. I never stand still as spirit. I am always on the move. Meaning as long as the survivor doesn't assume I am fake phasing they can always react. When I my spirit is standing still, I am phasing. The ######### thing is, survivors don't know that, so they get annoyed because fake phasing is such a large thing spirits do, that a lot of survivors assume everyone does it.
2 -
Survivors frequently say they have "no input" because not only drinking from Jund's punch, they're approaching Spirit like any other Killer and then crying when they get downed almost immediately.
You shouldn't be using your eyes, you should be using your ears and mind. Spirit is the literal definition of "mindgames", not the "double backs" and other little tricks done at loops.
0 -
And that's why you struggle with Spirit. You're not adapting to Spirit, you're approaching her like any other killer.
0 -
you play against red bully SWF, see how fun it is
0 -
Just because one thing is boring that doesn't mean the other one isn't. Freddy is boring, but you can't say "oh you find Freddy boring? Then what about survivors that hide all the time?". They're both boring. What you do right here is called "whataboutism"
0 -
How do I adapt though? I can’t just bring iron will every game and without it it’s just a coin toss at every loop
1 -
Survivors frequently say they have "no input" because not only drinking from Jund's punch, they're approaching Spirit like any other Killer and then crying when they get downed almost immediately.
No, I'm saying I have "no input" because I've played as Spirit for a long-ass time and survivors can do absolutely nothing against me. Every tip this forum has suggested, I've tried. Against a reasonably competent player- so no, when matchmaking gives you a rank 13 that doesn't count- with a good headset and stridor there is nothing you can do. The chase length is pre-determined by how long it takes for her ability to return.
That's why I, personally, say there's "no input" when facing a Spirit, nor when I'm playing her do the survivors have any. Because there isn't.
1 -
And what if rare 50/50s talk about it? Lol. I know im a rare breed but id love to hear this.
1 -
Go ahead, play Spirit. It will be quick and I can cue back up and, hope for a decent killer.
0 -
now, clarification:
Sometimes killers and survivors DO mean going against a certain killer/playstyle is boring, because it is by the genuine definition of the word (e.g. if you can tell before the first gen pops the bubba you are facing will camp with insidious and pretend slugging makes him one of the best players in the world, that's genuinely boring)
But if someone who plays both uses it as a buzzword, it usually means
'I am aware that I am but one player and not everyone plays like me. But I demand they do play like me so I can know what to do to win before they even think of doing it. It is utterly outrageous that the devs allow that people play differently from what would give me an advantage'

Yea, I thought Wraiths power just let him be invisible but kept his terror radius active. A nice survivor in endgame chat gave me some good advice and cleared it up for me, so now when I see a killer struggle, I try to give them some tips.
And yes, lots of survivors never came for the save, or quickly figured out my lovely strategy and would just go back to gens. I learned quickly that camping doesn't pay against players who have 2 brain cells. It works great against bad players though.
2 -
- No, that's how it used to be. People would now say it's either Blight or Hag at the no.3 spot. Billy hasn't been top 5 since his add-ons were gutted by BHVR.
- I disagree with half of your premise. Most apparently didn't complain about Billy, but looking back, there have 100% people complaining about Nurse (not just her busted old add-ons, her base kit). I think people are pretending they respect the skill behind Nurse as a weapon to bludgeon Spirit players. I think the real reason that people don't complain about Nurse is because A. Nurse is not only not as common of a killer, but most can't use her effectively, meaning facing good Nurses are rare. Notice how complaints are starting to happen against Blight now? Some are complaining about his base kit, but the hot topic is the J-flick. It is 100% something that requires skill, and he does telegraph his rushes, but survivors hate it because it's viewed as something that can't be countered (some Blight mains do say all you have to do is go away from a loop making it a 50/50 mind game but IDK). Survivors do not care if something is telegraphed (unless it's a zoning tool, which is where the problems with Deathslinger are) or requires skill. If something causes them to loose a chase frequently, it will be seen as an issue.
Now, her power might actually be obnoxious for survivors because of the reasons you brought up as well. However, I think if Spirit was actually terrible, these complaints wouldn't be appearing as much.

Who let you on the forums? XD No one "approaches a Spirit" XD You know what, good bait. You almost pulled me in XD

I didn't state this in my original post because it wasn't really needed. I mostly play killer. So a lot of this is based of my little time playing DBD as survivor with friends. Its the main reason I took the time to make opinion not only all caps but bold too.
I don't really use addons in a meaningful way on any killer, so addon reworks will always be left out of my opinions. Also Hag is top 5? Since when? I've been playing this game since 2017 (I think). Thats the last time I remember her holding that high of a spot.
But on to your major points. I don't play blight a lot as a killer but even when I do, I can see why j-flick is annoying... its because it isn't telegraphed. Its not something a survivor can know if the killer is going to do or not. It really depends on if the killer has a super high DPI like myself. I actually didn't know j-flicking was a thing until someone called me out on it... Its not something I did on purpose, I just happen to play at a very high DPI, 4600 to be specific. Also, j-flicking is something the devs said they are going to attempt to fix. So it really is invalid of an argument for anything because its a known bug and unintended game feature.
But besides a bug, I never really hear anyone complain about blight, they complain about people abusing a bug. Fake phasing on spirit isn't a bug, its just a "feature" people use that gives survivors ZERO feedback on what she is doing. It takes exactly ZERO skill to use and forces the survivor to guess. Everytime people complain about spirit, its her lack of feedback she gives survivors in chase. It allows her to zone survivors with no skill. Its all guess work on the survivors side.
As for your nurse arguments, like again, my views are based on my own opinions and those who we play with. We love playing against good and bad nurse's. Its boring to play against a god tier nurse, but those are so rare its almost not worth mentioning. We all depise playing against the following killers:
- Spirit: Because most run stridor and pop and there is nothing we can do but guess at what she is doing
- Slinger: Because at any point in a chase he can choose to end it, so we either have to always be weaving which lets him catch up ground quickly or hope he never chooses to fire in a split second notice. Huntress has a windup time and a sound alert, slinger has a split second windup and no sound alert... Thats our issue with him.
- Triangle head: Can fake his power for barely a slow down forcing you to fake a window or pallet and the go straight into a M1 swing, so it feels like you're taking a hit either way.
All of these killers suffer from the same problem, survivors, at least the ones I play with, feel like they have no choice. And that makes it boring, it doesn't feel like the killer won and I lost, it feels like the killer got something for free, unearned.
But really these are just my opinions and why I feel like these type of killer designs are boring.

That feeling survivors get when a Spirit fakes her power at a pallet and they get caught? That's the same exact feeling killers get when they outplay a survivor but they have Dead Hard to fix their mistake.
2 -
After being a Spirit main for so long I've been able to go against them pretty well. In the first couple minutes I can determine if she's a good Spirit or a bad one. If she's a good spirit I just have to think "What would I do if I were her?" and juke that, works like 80% of the time. If she's a bad spirit I just keep holding 'W' like the non looping god I am.
0 -
I don't wanna have to open my mind's third #########' eye to have a potential chance of being able to make the right guess multiple times in a row against a killer.
0 -
I used to find her fun to face, but she is annoying af if she finds you first. As soon as Spirit gets on top of the match, its completely unfun against her imo.
0 -
What's boring to play against is every Spirit with Stridor and the fact they can stand still and be rewarded for nothing because a survivor has to guess at what they're doing. Against a spirit with a good headset or Father's Glasses and Sloppy Butcher, they're uncounterable at times.
0 -
Cause playing guessing games with a Spirit is "fun". She's boring to play against, and to play as well. I'm literally only using 1% of my full power when playing her, she's nothing but straight up ez mode.

First F*ck me, apparently editing my post has somehow deleted it.
Hag is consistently considered a strong killer. I've not seen a whole lot of people change their minds on this. I've also just about not seen anyone think that Billy is better than Hag aside from people that just hate Hag's playstyle. Also, to an extent, it's expected that addons are to be used on killers. Otherwise, Nurse is not a high-mobility killer.
Rushes are telegraphed. Saying that the J-flicks aren't telegraphed is like saying Hatchets aren't telegraphed. Also, to an extent, telegraphing too much just makes killers unviable as it just boils down to a reaction game from a survivor, which is a fancy way to saying survivors don't have counterplay under those circumstances. J-flicking being unintended is irrelevant. The core gameplay of DBD is unintended. Hugging loops was not intended, and simply a result of BHVR being weird with collision. Comms was definitely not intended. Billy curves are also clearly not intended. One of the developers indicating that he wants to remove it is not a final statement on what's going to happen. Opinions can changed, and until there's an official patch, it means nothing. Calling it abusing a glitch is also not accurate. BHVR just have failed tomake an actual cap. It's like if COD had a 200 RPM cap on a semi-auto, but if you could spam click at 500 RPM, it allows you to fire the gun at that rate. That's not triggering a glitch, BHVR just don't have a real cap on Blight's turn rate because of sloppy code. Regardless, it has nothing to do with my argument, because the reason why it's hated is because "It has no counterplay." The point being is survivors do not care if something requires skill or not.
So the last half of your post isn't really a counter to what I'm saying. I'll bet these elements are annoying, but what you'll notice is that all these killers are all top-tiers in chases, which is my point. Maybe you and your friends do find what you listed as annoying, but my point is, if you're looking closely at comments or forum posts, most survivors basically just hate Spirit's viability. They don't just have a problem with the power fakes. They have a problem with Spirit being able to conceal her movements, which is the only reason why the power is good. Even if the shards work better and telegraph her phasing and eliminate the stand-still mindgame, that'll be a footnote just like collision was. Spirit will always be complained about until she's not a strong killer. That being said, I do understand that there are things about her that can be annoying regardless, so she could use a rework.

a really good hag is so ######### unfun to go against to the point where it makes every other killer look like a blast
i would rather go against a thousand spirits over a really good hag
0 -
spirit still gets consistent 4ks. shes so frustrating to go against when i dont have iron will, like THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WHEN IM INJURED AND SHE PHASES? oh and not to mention she kills the perk iron will with stridor
0 -
Vs. the majority of survivors spirit is OP. She is invisible, can move at lightening speed and can essentially still see survivors. Vs. good players she’s more balanced albeit still annoying.
0 -
You cannot hear her except in very rare circumstances, and she can hear you so there is no mindgame.
2 -
Look you seem like a nice person, but you're taking my points as an argument against yours. They are not, they are my OPINIONS on why I believe spirit and other killers are boring to play against. I even went out of my way to clarify I rarely play survivor and these are the views of my friends and myself. These may not be views of the community as a whole, because honestly I disagree with the community on a lot of things. As you can see between our discussion.
Thank you for taking the time to discuss with me, but honestly our discussion isn't going to change eithers views. We see the game differently and that is fine.
