How long does maxing the archives take you?

I'm curious with the post-nerfs. I've never hit level 70 in it pre-nerf, no matter how much time I sank into it. Even completing nearly every challenge it was virtually impossible without straight up sacrificing parts of your life.

However, even now, I'm not even 60 and have done all challenges, except for the couple that are Oni-specific, and a single other killer challenge. It's still pretty rough, since you also have to pay on top of tanking exorbitant hours for the rewards.

I usually have a couple of weeks left by the time I've finished it

I usually finish it a day or two before it ends. Rumor is they're reducing the grind for the next one sooo fingers crossed!

    over 200 hours.

to be more specific, and Please correct me if my math is wrong guys, but...

2 matches to gain 1 rift fragment x 10 rift fragments to gain 1 level of the rift = 20 matches to gain 1 level of the rift.

70 levels of the rift x 20 matches per level = 1400 matches.

    average of 10 mins per game x 1400 matches = 14000 minutes

    14000 minutes / 60 minutes = 233.3333333 hours of playtime.

233.3333333 / 24 hours per day (with lots of caffeine and no sleep) = 9.722222222222208 days.

233.3333333 / 16 hours per day (if you have no life, but still sleep 8 hours per night) = 14.583333 days

233.3333333 / 8 hours per day (if this game is your job) = 29.16666666666663 days

233.3333333 / 4 hours per day (if you play casually) = 58.33333333333325 days.

    etc...

    Typical Tome challenge averages:

11 multi-match challenge nodes x 3 rift shards per challenge node completed = 33 rift shards

9 single match challenge nodes x 5 rift shards per single match challenge completed = 45 rift shards

33 + 45 rift shards for completing tome 4 lvl 1 challenges, + 10 rift shards rewarded for completing tome lvl 1 = 88 shards or 8 levels of the rift and 8/10ths of a level.

Total time to get every challenge done, assuming you get each multi match challenge done in 2 matches, and every single match challenge done in 1 match: 2 matches x 11 multi match nodes = 22 matches + 9 single match nodes = 31 matches.

    31 matches x 10 mins per match = 310 mins

    310 mins / 60 mins = 5.166666666666667 hours.

70 rift levels - 8.8 for completing the rift = 61.2 rift levels remaining

    20 matches per rift level x 61.2 rift levels = 1224 matches

    1224 matches x 10 mins per match = 12240 mins

    12240 mins / 60 mins = 204 hours

    204 hours + 5.166666666666667 hours to complete the tome 4 lvl 1 = 209.1666666666667 hours

    209.1666666666667 / 24 hours per day without sleep = 8.715277777777778 days.

    209.1666666666667 / 16 hours per day with 8 hours of sleep = 13.07291666666667 days

    209.1666666666667 / 8 hours per day = 26.14583333333334 days

    209.1666666666667 / 4 hours per day = 52.29166666666668 days

I estimate it takes roughly 250 hours without any challenges or 150 if you do them all. This includes all the lobby wait times and bad games, etc.

Surveying the player base that has “weeks left when they hit 70” and you’ll find teens, college kids living at home, or work from home/unemployed types.

The grind is too much for the common player, they want you to throw money at it, bottom line.

One match gives roughly 500 points, one rift fragment is 800 points, 2 matches give you 1 fragment and a bit more, to gain one level you need 8000 points, that translates to 16 trials per level ALSO you have to take on account the "first match as Killer/Survivor" bonuses that give extra 300 points each so the first game as both roles gives you a fragment each, going for a level per day with no challenges you need around 15 trials per day over 70 days. Using your calculation of how many fragments challenges give and how many levels you have to grind it amounts to 15*61,2=918 matches over the span of 70 days and assuming you play at least 1 game of both roles each day.

The grind is insane but is not as much as you calculated.

depends on my motivation to play the game.

there are Rifts where i finished with weeks to spare, and there are rifts, like the current one, where i'll end up buying the last couple of tiers.

currently tier 64 if anyone wonders, no challenges left.

i can absolutely not wait for the change thats going to reduce the amount of EXP you need to get a fragment. i really hope the leaks on that were real...

I thought that they had reduced the grind for this one. Like, I want the Nurse's weapon to complete the set, but at the same time I don't feel like I should pay when the burden is so damn high for the time investment, and I don't care about anything else in the rift. No sense in paying for something I'm not even guaranteed to get.

Edit: After about 8 games and the bar for 57 moving about 10%, I think I'll hard pass on buying into this rift as well. I'm not going to give them money for something like this; it's ridiculous. I'll stick with the default costume.
