Tell Me Your DC Stories

Just want to hear everyone’s DC story, be they killer or survivor. I try not to DC much but I admit I just did. I’m in high ranks so already my patience is low. I don’t enjoy high ranks cause it’s not chill at all. I main Wraith but since I’ve been struggling recently I decided to try to switch up my perks. Switched out Shadowborn with Devour Hope, since hooking people hasn’t been a problem just killing them. Then I switched out Franklins Demise with Sloppy Butcher, since no one in the lobby had items. Immediately before the match was locked they switched to items at the last second. Red flag number one. Then not even a minute into the match my devour Hope was destroyed. So already in a bad spot. Then when I found someone Wraith was so incredibly slow I couldn’t even catch up with the survivor. He felt like he had a ball and chain around his ankle. So Shadowborn is a must at least for me. I just said screw it and took the DC.

The second or third day I was playing this game I got the hospital and was excited. I'd only gotten it once before and it looked like a lot of fun. I start slowly exploring and within probably 30 seconds The Plague (remember when people used her?) just suddenly showed up before I had any time to react and knocked me down. Hooked me, I get saved, I try to get away from the area. As is always the case the killer was nearby and just went straight for me again, going right past the person who rescued me. I managed to avoid her for a short time and quietly hid in a locker. Terror music went away. But somehow she came right around the corner and knew exactly which locker I'd gone in. I guess my scratches hadn't disappeared yet.

The point is that I was hooked again and everyone was on the other side of the map so I just let myself die as The Plague face-camped me. As the sacrifice animation began I figured "######### this, just get me to the next game already". I wasn't even rage-quitting, I was trying to lessen the time it would take to get into the next match. I'd already had to wait a combined 6 or 7 minutes for this match, which lasted all of 200 seconds, so I was just trying to hurry back to the lobby. I was already dead, what difference did it make?

No warning, no explanation from the game that you can't disconnect, even after you're done for. Slapped with a 48 hour restriction from playing with any of my friends. That's the day I learned that loads of cheap behavior was okay, but trying to hurry up the death animation and get back to the queue to save a few seconds is very very bad.

(I get it, I did something against the rules and was punished. I accepted it and moved on. I just thought that they could have at least given me a 1 time warning or something so I knew. I mean, again, I was already DEAD). 48 hour ban to save myself 20 seconds because the queue was taking forever. Lol.

I have one from today. I was playing on The Game map as Doctor right? I was doing very well, as Doctor's do on The Game. 3 generators were left and 2 survivors alive. I downed one of them, static blasted, and found the other. I chased them around the map since now they were tier 3 and couldn't save their friend. I downed them and hooked them. Then I pick up the last survivor and at that moment, my mom decided to mess with the breakers and shut off the internet and I was disconnected from the game. It was kind of hilarious, but I was so devistated because it was going to be a 32k game with 4 stacks of bbq and a bps, so 96k bp down the drain for bad timing.

I generally try not to DC, but 2 days ago I had a rough time. My left eye lid was swelling, and I took an allergy medicine in case it was related. First match as Nurse was at Hawkins. It was actually a wholesome match. Second match was Hawkins.............again. This time with immersed survivors genrushing. At that point I was both bored and frustrated at the match, and I didn't have double recharge on. That was the first DC. The second was the third match when I got Lery's. Then the fourth match, I was tilted, and had trouble hitting my blinks, (the allergy meds might have had that effect too). I was going to stick with it despite the BM's...............until I got the blink cancel...............5 times in a row. At that point, I had it with DBD and played Home Sweet Home. Had a better time.

Killer: I DC'd because I was just trying out Huntress. I'd never played on her before, and at that time I had scarcely played Killer at all. At Rank 18, I was matched with a flashlight army of Meg's SWF group. 3 were purple ranks, one was Rank 16 (so I guess that's how they got matched with me). I had no idea what I was walking into, and as you can imagine, they kept swarming me, blinding me, trying to bait me etc. It was a miserable experience. So yeah, I d/c'd and have never tried Huntress again lol.

Survivor (Solo): I try my best not to DC, but I did it once today. My evening matches went like this:

Camp/Tunnel. Camp/Tunnel. Camp/Tunnel. Camp/Tunnel/Slug. Camp/Tunnel/Mori- by this match, when it was a Huntress with Iri Axe heads, hooks survivor in the basement, stands outside the shack on the hill with axe raised- witnessing the first survivor be taken by surprise when they go for the rescue and get insta-downed...

I gave it a go, but bloody hell, man. I just said F** it and d/c'd. I'm so sick of camping and tunneling lol. I have to find a new game.

Before the dc punishment I would meme dc every now and then if I thought it was funny. Like if three other people dc'd I'd find the killer and look at them before dc'ing or try to Narnia people. Just dumb things like that when the game was completely done.

There was only one time that I can recall where I dc'd in legit anger and that was on a survivor game against a legion with a mori before they were nerfed. It was Yamoka's estate and I had done 2 gens by myself while my teammates were busy doing nothing. I think it was a Quentin who was the only one hooked at the time, I get chased for a while and nothing gets done. I get downed and while I'm on the hook I see all three of them just crouching around in different places.

Quentin gets found because of BBQ, runs to me on the hook while injured with the Legion on his ass, unhooks me without borrowed time and the Legion downs me. I dc'd just so the Legion wouldn't have to waste his time with the Mori animation and could instead go after Quentin right away. Best part was by the time I got to spectate he was downed so I got to watch him get killed.

That happened pretty early on in my DBD days and I have since gotten used to people doing dumb crap and it doesn't bother me nearly as much anymore, especially to the point I'd dc.

I faced with Bubba. And this guy found me first. And started chase. And he never give up. He chase me for all gens. And i down on deadzone. And i knew this Bubba going to facecamp me. I didnt want to give him one kill and i dc'ed. And my all teammates escaped. He insulted me in end game chat and i said good luck next game :)

I wanna say this happened to me like 2 years ago, I was playing normally and my dog ate 2 chocolate bars that were on my bed, I play with headphones so I didn't heard anything besides the game.

So my dog started throwing up and I dc'ed instantly to take him to the vet, apparently chocolate is something a dog should never eat.

I had a guy 2 weeks ago dc when he had only been hooked once. I grabbed him off a vault and he called it quits. He was the obsession and I had 8 stacks of save the best for last at the time, so I just had 8 stacks for the rest of the match lol. I decided to give him props after the match just for that.

In my three years of playing dbd I've only dc three times.

First time was a bit after plague was released. I spawned on autohaven and was running to the bus to do the gen and was teleported all the back to where I was spawned. Everytime i tried to move I kept on getting pushed back and even so it happening to the killer in the distance. I dc cause I was not gonna deal with that lag.

Second time was when, for some reason, the skill check prompt would never show up. I would hear the sound of it coming but it never showed up. So I couldn't do gens, heal myself or others, and since the killer was a pig I couldn't even remove my trap. So since I was basically useless in that match I dc. Looking back I should've just stayed so the killer could get the points for my trap going off.

The third time is the only one I feel really bad for doing so. It was against a blight on dead dog and we three gen ourselves. It was just me and my friend left and he was down, but the blight wouldnt pick him up. Since the match was lost i figured I'd get one more chase in before he hooked me. So i ran to him, he hit me, I'd run away to start the chase but je would just go back to the gens. I healed myself with my medkit and went back to try again but he would always just hit me and go back to the gens. As this was happening my friend was crawling around the map and found hatch. Given the fact the blight waa going to chase me and I didnt want to just give him a free kill (and it was like 2:00 in the morning and I was tired af) I said screw it and dc so he could get hatch.

Besides these, I never really dc cause i don't wanna cheat the killer out of a kill, even if I get face camped at 5 gens I'll stay.

Also i don't wanna lose any of my bloodpoints i got for the match , no matter how small the amount is lol

It’s a boost when it can show totems and how many are left. Rarely anyone plays trapper anyway so small game prior was nothing.

I had a match last night where I downed a survivor the first time before any gens were done and he automatically DC’d. It was very weird. Guess he didn’t want to be the first one hooked.

I am one of those rare solo survivors who knows what it is like to have two other solo survivors DC because they get downed first so I never do it. I dont care if I get tunneled or camped, I still act like it is just another game. Had a game a few nights ago where first player downed then hooked and while someone was running to get them right at the hook they DC. Then the player who was trying for the save DC'd and because I am running Kindred and Bond I see it all. I am on my gen going "#########". So I continue and finish my gen and then try to complete the game. Of course, I died but I never DC because I know others are counting on me even if it is to just take up a fraction of the killers time.

I'm not one to DC unless something happens in real life. Which is what happened here. This one time, I was playing survivor. It was me and one other survivor left, and I needed to leave for dinner. I made noise notifications and gave myself up to the killer, pointing at the hook. They [BAD WORD]ing slugged me to go for the 4k. It's like, "Okay, I gave you your chance. I actually have to leave." And so I disconnected.

I will DC on occasion for bully squads that I just don't want to deal with like the other night I was playing Hag with Third Seal and had a team of Soul Guard/Unbreakable and last second flashlights, they didn't break the totem and didn't work in any gens so I could make literally zero progress, sould have recorded and reported for taking the game hostage but I doubt it would have gone anywhere. Or when I'm hard tunneled at 5 gens. Or like today when I didn't get a single down as Trickster within 5 gens and while two survivors just BM'd and the other two cranked out gens. Didn't want to play out that maybe 5000bp game.

That all being said the longest penalty I've had was 15 minutes on a particularly bad night and at that point it was a sign of "stop playing this game, it's frustrating you too much, watch a movie and calm down." The penalty definitely helps though, if I'm tilted enough to DC it settles me down or forces me to stop for the night and makes me consider "is DCing really worth it right now?"

If I load into a map that's particularly bad for my killer(almost always blight) like Hawkins and i'd rather not play Ill just dc and go play something else.

For my whole career I DC'd probably once or twice because I was frustrated while trying to get an achievement on Shape to kill 4 survivors with an addon.

And when I disconnected, one of survivors left a comment in my profile saying something like "It's ok, better luck next time [smiley face]".

After couple of days I played another killer and this guy got into my lobby again. I was thinking "cool, it's that one nice guy, I will give him a hatch if it will go well". Then I chased and downed him pretty quickly... and he disconnected.

I was laughing so hard. I copied and pasted his own commentary in his profile. Not sure if he remember me though.

I downed my first survivor one game not too long ago, a Nea.

That's all there is to it, she literally DC'ed because of that.

I think I went against you earlier. Your build sounds identical to a wraith me and a friend went against.

Does Hex: Horny ######### ring any bells? I may have also been using the name WTB Pyramid Daddy.

If that was you, yeah you really weren't having a good night. After me and a friend escaped we watched as a prestige Cheryl teabagged at the exit then dead harded into a wall and got killed. She totally had it coming.

My latest dc stories I can think of:

I had an active DS, power struggle, Unbreakable and flip flop while being under a pallet(12 stun challenge in the rift), having healed to the point where I needed a teammate to pick me up. Then a teammate came to my rescue but the killer was nearby to pick me up. Instead of picking me up OR waiting nearby to stun the killer with a pallet, he decided to drop the pallet the moment I ran out of DS and run away from the killer, causing the killer to pick me up.

I was trying out a 4 hex build with a killer, all 4 hexes were gone within 30 seconds, there was no map. All totems spawned out in the open.

Another killer one, I had the grab animation being cancelled 10 times in a row while getting 0/8 vaulting hits that should have been vaulting hits, it literally made the difference between a 4k and a 4 man escape.

A killer was facecamping and tunneling me, I was gonna depip with only 8k bp as I couldnt even touch a single gen, might aswell leave early and grab a snack.

I personally wish BHVR would just allow you to have 1 free DC per day with no punishment, I rather dodge a game where I'm going to lay on the floor for 4 minutes without being punished 5 minutes for wanting to have fun. I never see the need to DC more than once a day anyway.

Trickster, 4man, all Dead Hard and baiting to follow from a position of safety, be it a window or what.

Trickster being slow could basically not catch up and when he did....ez dead hard.

so yeah, I was out of there

Had one this week in one of my Clown games.

Match starts on Family Residence, and the moment a Nancy and a Steve realise it’s Clown after getting gassed, they DC not even 60 seconds into the game. I find, down, and hook a Jake. He suicides. I find and close hatch, spot Feng, down her, then had some heart, and carried her to a gate, let her escape.

    The Nancy & Steve?

    BOTH RANK 1!!!!!!

    Unbelievable.

Before the trickster buff I was trying to find the spots on haddonfield were you could snipe knives through. They used that haddonfield offering and I was just messing around. I discovered you could snipe someone on the other side of those white fences. Nea refused to leave the fence after injuring her and I continued to down her with my knives while she crouched behind the fence, fast dc plus an angry message that I was not allowed to exploit fences LOL.

I only dc when I encounter unplayable bugs. When we had that hill bug and the killer just stood there watching doing nothing I wasn't sticking around. I almost never dc but try to turn it around in my favor.

I quit at the start of the match. Cause my perk build was so crap and my devour Hope was instantly gone there was no way I could play well or how I wanted. Though that profile name sounds familiar. The map was Father Campbells and I quit after slowly trying to mindgame a red headed Meg and failing because Wraith was so slow.

I was Nancy on Dead Dawg. I got to 2nd phase on first hook. Then the nurse came straight to me. I hit my ds, I go to a pallet, I drop it on her face, I get the stun points but she isn't stuned and hits me through the pallet. Then I see her hand raised so I vault back, run like 2 meters then I am suddenly hit althouh she was on the other side of the pallet. I never DCed with so much pleasure.

I think there was a special event last night: Every killer must play Leatherface, and every second or third game someone must disconnect.

I didn't, but there were definitely times I wanted to. Sometimes rage-quitting is less about throwing a fit and more about the exasperated desire to just get on with the next match instead of putting up with crap.

This one is technically me disconnecting.

Back before I realized there's no reason to let non-friends comment on my steam profile, my power went out mid-match. Not just mine, not just the building I live in, the entire area in the city I live in lost power and as a result I ended up disconnecting, obviously.

Got back online to a comment calling me scum swf for disconnecting to give hatch (when my power went out it was 3 survivors remaining which just adds more 🤔 to this claim, maybe I didn't drop instantly and ran into a wall for a while first? that on top of being a solo with an all-public profile). Naive me tried to explain this and their response floored me: Prove it.

Mate how the hell am I supposed to prove something like that? Props if they were doing a little trolling as it gives me a truly silly experience to look back at and have a laugh at, but if that's the case they nailed the "unreasonable angry gamer" act.
