Nice profanity filter 10/10

I now no longer have to put up with horrible swear words in my favorite game for you see, I am a shrivelling violet, and a game that is rated R in almost every country in which it is sold for extreme violence where people are chainsawed, eaten, and axed in the back of the head really needs to worry about being child friendly. I also appreciate the fact that the devs are allowed to swear in the flavor text for perks and the dialogue, even when the community, ostensibly made up of adults, cannot, for the devs are our truly our betters, and we are but simpering peasants unworthy of even the option to have the chance to have an adult conversation in a game that is for adults.

This is some pandering bullshit.

That difference is completely arbitrary. There's no difference between that and me wanting to say '######### yeah boys' after a great win in a solo queue with my new friends. We are supposed to be grown ups. We should have the option to turn it off.

That is not at all my experience with this game, 70% of the time it's just ggs in the chat, the rest of the time it was just an exciting game and people get amped up. Very very rarely do I see abuse hurled at anyone. This is stupid and condescending. Fine, put it in, but don't force it on us. You can't deny that it's super hypocritical to wag the finger at their player base when the game has swearing right through it, and I haven't even bothered getting into some of the cutscenes and expanded lore.

You're implying that cussing is inherently aggressive or uncivil but for plenty of us its just force of habit. Think of it like an exclamation to emphasize how good that save was or how well that David played. Life would be boring if we all just said, "Wow, really great play!"

Doesn't have the same punch, you know?

this is like a super common societal double standard.

it's not that you are wrong, but companys like Riot and Blizzard have set a standard.

Also it does sometimes feels very frustrating to be censored every second word even when u didn't say anything that should actually be censored because the detection is too sensitive or sees something that's not there.

However i would advise you to take this into consideration.

If half of the stuff you say gets censored wouldn't you feel like its pointless to saying anything? so lets say you want to tell how stupid the guy is, and this happens "you !@#$ ur so !@#!@#" it doesn't feel as satisfying, and it diffuses the situation more quickly. Because you feel like its pointless. So the system while dumb when you look at its direct purpose, it does have a smothering effect that indirectly defuses toxic situations. So it can have a positive effect even if its hypocritical in the context of the game and setting.

Even when some chat's at the end can be talking about in-game stuff that's not toxic lets not kid ourselves, its either GG's or just flame for the most part. so i guess BHVR is willing to trade off the few good interactions for the massive toxic end game conversations to be resolved quicker and more peacefully.

That being said i don't like it and if it was removed i wouldn't cry about it i think its dog!@#$.

“it doesn’t happen to me, so it doesn’t happen that often” Do you know you’re not the center of the universe and your experience doesn’t encapsulate everyone’s experience as a whole? im okay with chat filter. There’s no reason to be talking sh*t to other people. big difference between cussing and calling someone names over a video game. which btw, happens a lot.
