Survivors, what's something the killer does that completely baffles/grinds your gears?

TauNkosi
TauNkosi Member Posts: 282

Other than the obvious such as tunneling or face camping. Comment your personal killer grievances and see how many of your fellow survivors can relate!

I'll go first.

Killers seemingly completely ignoring a specific survivor when there's no obsession. Have you ever had that one game where you or another survivor go the entire time without getting hooked? Every one else is on death hook and you're standing there like, "Why is the killer ignoring me?" Even when you try to take aggro, the killer still goes after the other survivors. It makes the game a little boring when it happens.

Can anyone relate?

Not fully AFK killers baffle me, to be honest.

What I'm talking about is the ones that stay in one spot, spamming the attack button for the whole match.

Sometimes they'll pivot in place, but mostly they just stand there, hitting nothing.

And then I have to act like a dick to get enough boldness/chase points to not de-pip (which is fine, but it makes me feel like I'm just being an idiot troll.)

Funnily enough, the only two I've seen doing this were white ranks already.

Surely they're doing it to de-pip themselves further, but I'm not sure.

Denying my adrenaline. The killer had just picked me up when the last gen got done. He dropped me on purpose and my adrenaline kicked in. Let's say I was back on the ground and soon on the hook after that, I didn't even get 2 steps in before I went down. It was such a big brain play that I was completely caught off guard.

Correct, somebody on these forums cleverly called it anti-tunneling.

As long as a deathhook survivor can progress their objective as fast as a no hook survivor it is pretty clear which one is the most valuable to chase.

And while tunneling leaves 3 other survivors to do what they want. Ignoring one is a good way to apply pressure to most survivors while still trying to reach a 3v1 relatively fast

At the risk of sounding elitist, but something that grinds my nerves for either side is when people are ignorant/completely oblivious towards mechanics of 'the other side'. Like not knowing what certain perks like Bloodhound do and accusing someone of hacking instead, or walking past bushes on glenvale or midwich for what feels like hours and obvioosly knowing the survivor's around, but the idea they are in the bush doesn't occur to them. (you see this often in 'funny dbd moment' compilations)

Plays huntress. How can you play killer with such big hitbox/latency problems without feeling guilty?

I can how it works but still. At least let me take a hook state for my teammates. I'm more than willing to die for them.

I'll admit, I used to be that kind of player when I first started out. In hindsight, I didn't know you could hover over perks during the endgame screen to see what they do for a solid month. I just always left to play the next game. For example, I used to think head on was an intricate part of the game and tried saving a teammate without the perk. Imagine my shock when it didn't work and I accused the killer of hacking somehow. I was a dumb survivor back then.

cause nothing is more satisfying in this game than charging up a hatchet and get a snipe from across the whole map. <3

When the there's only 2 survivors left and the killer decides to slug one to stop the hatch opening.

If the killer is going for an adept then it makes sense but otherwise I really do not get why some people feel the need to prolong the match THAT long just for one extra kill and a few extra blood points, plus the endgame collapse exists. You can close the hatch and stop them!

It's so incredibly frustrating and boring to go against someone like this, just let the match end, either you get the kill or the survivor escapes then everyone can move on to the next game

Killer slugs survivor A and wanders off to find survivor B. Survivor B sneaks over to survivor A and picks them up. Killer finds and slugs survivor B, repeat the process for 15 minutes

Occasionally when I've been in that situation me and the other one manage to avoid them after getting picked up and get the last gen(s) done resulting in a very satisfying 2k. It's then pretty tempting to add an "ez" but I'm nice

Exit gate trappers with noed they know they lost the match and so they use their traps to catch survivors at exit gate switches then slug with noed that really gets me mad because even if you don't get trapped he knows you're there from the noise notification of me disarming it

BM'ing me all because I looped them or 360ed them. The amount of times I've had killers camp and hit me on hook while shaking their head because I 360ed them due to them depending on lunges. If you constantly lunge I know how to exploit that. Don't get mad at me for it. It's also not my problem if you don't know how or when to break a loop and to realize I'm successfully wasting your time.

That and when they get cocky after catching up to me. I kept you chasing me for 2 mins straight and you fell for multiple loops, that is not something to get cocky over.

My favourite version of this is Freddys that headbang after they spent 3 minutes chasing you and then finally managed to snare spam/bloodlust you down. Good job lil buddy.

As a killer main, it irritates me when I'm playing survivor and the killers BM like slug the last two then don't hook them until they're almost dead. You won, knucklehead, just finish the match!

Not follow the survivor rule book.

The MOST satisfying key escapes have been the ones where I find a key while the last other person match is slugged, I find hatch, tbag and motion on it so that they get the idea where it is, pick them up, and then escape with them.

Like, nice job wasting 2 or 3 minutes going for the 4k. You Get Nothing.

I get it when the killer is perhaps going for adept- you might need that 4k if you want the achievement. But if you're some random Doctor running NOED, Unrelenting, Overcharge and BBQ? I'm sorry but I'm not interested in helping you get your 4k LMAOOO

That rarely happens to me, but holy cow is it annoying when it happens (sometimes). Especially when they committed and had a chase that was WAY longer than it should have been. The funny part is the majority of players who do this, still don't end up killing me/whomever they shook their heads at in the end. At that point, they DEFINITELY get tbags at the gate. What's sauce for the goose, is sauce also for the gander, you know? My boyfriend and I actually played a match last night where he ran a killer for... 4 gens (with the fifth one being 75% finished). When he finally got downed, the killer shook his head at him, took him in the basement, and proceeded to face camp. Unfortunately for him, I run BT and Deliverance, so I wasn't stressed about making the save. As my boyfriend just barely ends up making it to the gate, he starts tbagging and the killer instantly DCs LOL

What makes it extra annoying is that it usually seems to happen only at night when the survivor queues are long. So now you have to wait ANOTHER 8 minutes before you get another match. Better put on an Azarov's Key to make sure you don't accidentally get Haddonfield or Fractured Cowshed and risk another killer DC LMAOOO

That giant neon "chase me!" sign you're broadcasting might just have an even bigger, flashing, red "DON'T" glowing atop.

That's not necessarily your exact situation here, but if you encounter that sort of thing frequently here are some of the reasons that can tend to happen:

When it comes to actually baiting the killer, a lot of survivors make it super obvious what they're doing. And obviously if the other team wants you doing something, that's almost certainly something you don't want to be doing.

Meanwhile, if you're too eager about following them and trying to deflect agro, well, why in the world would the killer chase the survivor whose already chasing them and that's 2 players locked down from doing gens in one move?

Even when the opportunity does look organic, a lot of survivors are simply too greedy about putting any "bait" in their baiting. Just showing "hey I'm here too!" isn't gonna cut it when you're clearly holding enough distance and positioned well enough to loop them before they might even get that first hit.

You don't necessarily need to take a hit, but if you're not putting yourself in a position where that's a real possibility then the killers likely to recognize that too and stay course. Though, if they're chasing someone injured already---actually, you might just need to take a hit there for them to consider switching.

Ultimately though, sometimes there's just not a lot you can do since there's just far too much incentive for the killer to chase their target. Could be because the other player was a dick and BMing, so the killer legit doesn't care about you. Or maybe its just pure tunneling as a calculated decision since eliminating players from the game is the absolute best way of turning the tables as a killer. Or maybe they're just a dick.

Sometimes you can MAYBE lure them away by taking a full dive in hopes of buying a little time, but I can't say that's a good play in many circumstances. Chances are they'll just keep going after the other player anyway, even ideally you're probably buying 10 seconds before they head that way again.
